So excited for you! Second grade seems like such a fun year. I'm doing a work study and tutoring kids 1st-4th this school year, starting this Tuesday at one of the local Elementary schools. I just found out students (education majors) at the local colleges can substitute in the local district, so I'm hoping to look into it for next school year. Trying to get as much experience as possible while still a student!

Yay for 2nd grade! In my many years of teaching, 1st & 2nd have been where I've spent the majority of my time. I am moving from 2nd to a brand new PreK program and, while excited, I know I'll miss that age group tremendously. You did a GREAT job clearing out & putting your mark on the room. I remember walking into a classroom that had been left by another teacher when I first started in my current district. I had my mom and aunt helping me and it felt like it took forever. I was still clearing stuff out years later. Have a great year!

I'm really surprised that the previous teacher left all of her stuff like that. All I can think of is that she wasn't there at the end of the last year and other people packed the room for her. People don't leave student names on walls or other things like the word wall. Even if she didn't know she wasn't coming back, you would think she would have tidied up more, simply as end of year routine. I am looking forward to seeing a room tour.

I was a little surprised, as well, but I believe she was in the same classroom for years and years. It wasn't too bad, but I am still going through a lot of the little things and paperwork. I will get a room tour done as soon as possible. :)

I am 100% with you on the interview jitters! I've had interviews that range from Fast Food to Corporate and it's so intimidating not knowing what you're walking into. So glad you got the job! I guess it pays off to have a shopping buddy, after all. 🤣💜
