"Ama-la's Story: A Tibetan Refugee Comes to New York" is the story of 81-year-old Choe Dolma, a refugee from Ngari (Western Tibet) who now lives in Elmhurst, Queens. After a difficult adjustment period in America, she found a community that is both new and familiar at the Sherpa Monastery in Queens, run by the Himalayan Elders Project.
