Stop using Black issues and advocacy as a shield for personal criticism. Most of Amanda's issues are with other Black people that have the exact same political beliefs as her. Also, Amanda is self diagnosed. Not diagnosed by therapist.

Autism can be diagnosed by a doctor. That’s what clinical diagnosis means.

Al often speaks on things he actually has very little knowledge of. A diagnosis by a qualified medical profession IS a clinical diagnosis. Amanda SAID she was DIAGNOSED with autism earlier in the interview way before Shannon scrutinised the validity of her diagnosis. She is now back paddling and throwing Shannon under the bus to try to justify her lies. A psychiatrist diagnoses IS a clinical diagnosis and Amanda would know this so clearly her psychiatrist has NOT diagnosed her. Lastly, Amanda often lacks taking accountability in negative situations. It’s not unreasonable to question the validity of her self-diagnosis because it could be yet another way she is trying to escape accountability for her words and actions.

Amanda Seales is just a spoiled brat and thinks everyone is supposed to spoil her like her mother did and she can't figure out why that's not happening. That's where her attitude is coming from.

As a psychologist, Amanda’s presentation is consistent with the diagnosis of Narcissistic Personality Disorder, not necessarily Autism. The reason being diagnosed by a mental health professional is important is because we assess for different differential diagnoses (looking at different disorders that may have similar symptoms ) so we’re not treating the wrong thing.

If you watch the interview, Shannon asked her if she’s been clinically diagnosed and she responded, “Yes, there are clinical diagnosis” she knew what she was doing by answering that way. The legitimacy of her diagnosis was questioned and she deflected to avoid flat out lying. She’s exhausting and trying to excuse her behaviours by using a mental illness and being a black woman as a shield is flat out manipulation.

The fact that Al is a professor is kind of alarming.

She never said her psychiatrist or psychologist diagnosed her. She self diagnosed herself based on research she has done and knowledgeable persons she has spoken with.

Definitely not. Amanda is not a child any more and at some point you have to grow out of your young behaviour. She has been doing this victim stuff for a long time. Yes, she was in floetry, albeit for 3 minutes… But she was the scrappy-do of floetry… Unnecessary and unliked by the audience. Wherever she goes she is the problem so it would make sense for her to nurture the spaces she has created for herself and just stay there till she learns to play better with other adults. She basically did what a lot of people do when they go on WebMD for that "mystery lump or phlegm filled cough". Hell I've diagnosed myself with cancer on more than one occasion. And just like them (and me), she could be totally wrong. She could have a personality disorder or something else all together. That's why you go to a trained certified clinician. If she really wanted to know for certain if she was autistic than she would pay the $10,000 and go through the testing process. Seems like a no brainer to me. With the correct diagnosis she can get the resources and support she needs to cope. But running around lying about being diagnosed with autism for attention and sympathy is not cool at all. She losses a lot of credibility doing stuff like that.

It’s crazy that Al is a professor at a university and he doesn’t know what a clinical diagnosis is. "Clinically diagnosed" refers to a diagnosis made by a qualified healthcare professional based on clinical observations, examination, and sometimes diagnostic tests. It means that a medical professional has evaluated a patient's symptoms and medical history and determined a specific diagnosis according to established medical criteria.

I agree with Armon. Autism has nothing to do with a need to always share however other behavioral disorders do. She needs to be assessed for Cluster B Personality Disorders.

What are they talking about? There are only two types of diagnoses, clinical diagnosis which deals with reported symptoms and laboratory diagnosis which deals with physical examination. Any doctor can make a "clinical diagnosis" including a psychiatrist or a psychologist.

She reminds me of Kanye West in that everyone keeps calling her "Brilliant" but I feel like we are only assigning her that label because she has degrees (a lot of educated fools in the world) and she called HERSELF brilliant/genius. Like Kanye who called himself a genius then everyone got on the bandwagon. A "Brilliant" and educated person would have identified that she resonated with the characteristics of autism that she read about, made a PRELIMINARY self-diagnosis and promptly followed that up with an ACTUAL clinical/official diagnosis by a LICENSED professional before running around and telling people, in a matter-of-fact tone, that she IS autistic. She could have even said "I feel strongly that I am on the spectrum". That statement tells us she is self-diagnosing but not confirmed. We can get behind that. Most health conditions start with us "feeling like something is off". She blatantly tried to mislead people by saying she is autistic by using evasive language when Shannon asked her "Is it diagnosed", then gets mad that people picked up on the evasiveness. She is not too brilliant otherwise she could have avoided this whole thing by being fully honest. She needs to get a grip. I do think she is an INFORMED person on black studies and has a powerful voice when talking about those topics but brilliant, in general, I think not. And, her comfortability with "lying by omission" explains why she had no problem with Jussie Smollett and considered him lying "Low key noble." I get it now.

Yes, you do need a clinical diagnosis by a doctor to be DIAGNOSED with autism. A questionnaire she did online doesn’t officially diagnose her with autism.

As someone who has autism and was diagnosed as a child, I do think it is beneficial to have a diagnosis as it helped me to understand my identity. However, I understand 100% that the difficulty of trying to get an autism diagnosis can put people off trying to get one. My sister has autism, and my parents told me that I likely would not have been diagnosed if it was not for her.

i cant with Amanda so im with Armon on this but i would say its crazyyyyyyy he feels this way about her but he gives Kanye all the grace and glory. Society has constantly used mental health as a blanket for Kanye. I am over these people with terrible attitudes and personalities trying to justify their ways.

I like Amanda but it's very dangerous for ANYONE to give themselves a self diagnosis without properly seeing a licensed doctor/psychologist who can ACCURATELY tell you if you have a disorder . I just think it's reckless on her part knowing she has a following on social media who some may follow suit with what she's doing.. ALSO taking online tests and assessments are not a means to self diagnose yourself as well. It's there to give you insight on whether or not to see someone further for a proper diagnosis.
