How amazing that one man is continuing this traditional way of growing apples. Come along with us folks as we explore the open house at Century Farms Orchards in Reidsville North Carolina...I hope ya'll enjoy it as much as we did

My wife and I visited here around 10 years ago. We ordered apple trees and started a small orchard. It was really cool seeing the place again. It hasn't changed at all. David has a real passion for apple trees. I have two kids now, your video makes me want to take them there. It's a unique experience. Great video Josh.

Stoney Ridge Farmer Are you planning on having plums in your orchard? We had a plum tree that produced the most delicious plums I have ever eaten in my life. My mom made plum jam from them one year it was Devine!

OMGosh you just brought back memories of a cool place we had here in Middle TN. It was a pumpkin farm (Fall is my fave time of year) and they had an old barn they turned into a little store where you could get all things pumpkin, some apple ciders, apples, corn stalks, ect. You could pick your own pumpkins by taking a hay ride out to the fields, play games, the kids could climb on huge round bales of hay painted like giant pumpkins. It was just a fabulous place to visit and enjoy the Autumn. Sadly it ended up closing down and now we have to drive an hour to get anything similar; but nothing compares to that one.

Josh, check out adding some kiwi trees to the mix. Just a couple of trees will produce hundreds of kiwis for you! A heavy pruning once per year keeps them manageable. We just picked my father in law's trees about a month ago and came home with bags full of kiwis. A good addition for the SRF!

You might mention that you have to get to different types of apple trees that bloom at the same timevso they can cross-pollinate, or they won't produce.

👍 🍏 🍎 🍏 👍Thx Mr Josh & ‘peeps’- Apples around here are so NOT flavorful it makes me sick-👀- The apple peel is so thick & scientifically engineered to make it to market and store in an effort to stop damage before customer buys... it takes a lot of taste out of the apple- IMO- just sayin’- Same with our store bought tomatoes. 🍅 🍅 (Louisville, KY stinks)

One of the greatest disappointments of shopping in the USA is the terrible apples for sale. They are too big to eat , and no flavour and rubbish texture. There is a red one that looks like wax it's so shiny , but is absolute wet tasteless cardboard pap!. We have some bad apples in UK (granny smith , golden delicious , red delicious ) but that red American one, uuuuh , good to see that people are rediscovering nice apples. Do you have anything like a Cox's Orange Pippen?

Anyone have a recommendation for good heirloom varieties that might be dwarf size? Is that dependent on the rootstock? I'd like to get a large number of these trees in a small space.

Thats awesome, hope to be ordering some scions from him this year so i can do some more of my own grafting. I think you would be able to figure it out man it aint that hard. If you got some time i would say to check out some of this playlist ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3uJACcsOmMI.html He is a bit long winded so you could probably skip through but there is some great information in there and he probably covers just about everything. I grafted a bunch last season and learned which way will be the best for me. Really excited for this next grafting season coming up. Hope to do alot more.

Would really have liked to seen and heard less of you, (sorry) and seen more of the apples. So wish you would have slowly gone down the rows so we could have seen the wonderful apples that were there and actually read the tags. If ever you go back, please do so for those of us who will never get there.
