I've been looking to add a sound decoder to my own GE 44 Tonner. The Zimo sound decoder seems to have the best overall sound IMO of the videos I've seen. Do you recall the specific sound project file did you use for this?
I’ll have to look that up. I think today I would use a SoundTraxx Tsunami2 TSU-1100 decoder and their sound package for the GE 44 ton center cab. They have sound samples on their website.
Sorry but Zimo are pretty rare in my neck of the woods (USA) as are Plux 22. Even the Next18 have only recently appeared in US manufacturer products. Consequently I have no experience with the Plux 22. From the little I have read they should just plug into a compatible socket. What problems are you having?
Yes, it is the single motor version. The motor control of the Zimo decoder together with the TCS Keep Alive give excellent performance even on dirty or rough track and over switches. Now that TCS has the very small Keep Alives I use them in small locos that normally do not run this smooth and are susceptible to even minute power fluctuations. The TCS Keep Alive smoothes these out.
The DCC Guy I’m going to check out that Zimo decoder. Do you recommend anyone to install this in a 44 tonner ? Also love your video’s. I model all SAL, ACL, CRR, and SOU. If you are ever in Myrtle Beach SC come visit my train club The Grand Strand Model Railroad Club www.gsmrrc.org
I'm annoyed by stay alive. I have a dead section at the end of a line to stop engines running over the end on to the floor. With stay alive they just carry on over the edge like lemmings!
