Supertramp at its most serene. Starts in almost like a lullaby. Then it builds into an anthem. Then it culminates in a plea for peaceful harmony. That a lot of emotion packed in one song.

Aw ❤❤❤! I can relate to your comment SO MUCH - you have no idea 😢. I went through 15 years of psychological cruelty (psychological domestic violence - PDV) at the hands of my ex-partner then even worse horrors 😭 (which I can't go into detail in a public forum). In total, 25 years of suffering - half my life. I'm now on my own and slowly starting to heal (estranged from my original family) - and starting to feel peace and a tiny bit of hope and happiness. Parents, close family and friends have helped me to survive - 💏 hugs and kisses to them all. Hugs 🫂 to you and Metta (selfless loving kindness) because I'm a Buddhist. Jo x

A nice song. Supertramp, as I have stated many times before, has been my favourite band since I was 13 in 1975 and first heard the album Crime of the Century. Supertramp is equal parts cynical/realistic and spiritual in terms of its lyrics. This is one of the more spiritual songs by Roger Hodgson. You need to react to three other songs off Breakfast In America that I rarely if ever hear on the radio - Oh Darling, Child of Vision and Just Another Nervous Wreck. EVERY tune off their five LPs between 1974 and 1982 are either good, better or great. React to anything off the all-time classic album Crime of the Century bu especially School, Bloody Well Right, Hide in Your Shell, Asylum, Dreamer, Rudy and Crime of the Century. Off Even In The Quietest Moments listen to Fool's Overture, Give A Little Bit, Babji and, personal favourites of favourites, From Now On and Lover Boy. Off Crisis? What Crisis? react to Another Man's Woman, Sister Moonshine, Ain't Nobody Like Me, Lady and A Soapbox Opera. Enjoy. I really look forward to seeing/hearing your reactions.

This is why we listened to an entire album as opposed to radio hits. Really good bands like Supertramp created emotional paintings. You want on a journey. I distinctly remember the first time I heard Tapestry. Or Zappa's Apostrophe. Horses from Patti Smith was a personal revelation. You lived within the life of the album. And that feeling of discovery could be exchanged and shared with your contemporaries. Revolutions were born from listening to kick-ass music. One name: Dylan. Beyonce's Lemonade is a contemporary example. Good music moves people. A fantab concept meticulously executed can influence a generation.

‘Beatlesque’. Absolutely. There are tons more Supertramp you should listen to. Child of Vision is off the same album. It might be a longer track but it’s well worth checking out. It’s faster and more up tempo. There is lots of piano and lots of horns. As the title suggests, it carries a compelling meaning, even if it is heavy on instrumentals.

What a perfect song for right now. Even as an early teen when this first came out I couldn't get through this song without tears. So many things I don't understand about the world we live in. The only answer is love. If you want more of this kind of Supertramp I would recommend Even in the Quietest Moments. If you are wanting more action I would suggest Cannonball.

Supertramp and YES had the same manager (Brian Lane) and at one time he tried to get Roger to write with Jon Anderson as some members of YES thought that Jon's lyrics were getting to "Arty-Farty." When Jon Anderson left YES Roger was suggested as a replacement for the band.... It might have been an interesting combination.

The album as a whole left a huge impression on me. I fell in love with it immediately. I can still remember where I was and the friends who were there when I heard it for the first time. But it was this song in particular that reached in and grabbed my stomach. I could feel it in my core, and I still can to this day. Thank you so much for this one. CACTUS' 1971 cover of Little Richard's Long Tall Sally. I went to their concert in south Florida's Sportatorium back in the day. In between songs I screamed "Long Tall Sally" a few times from the balcony. The drummer heard me, pointed his stick at me, said something to the guys, and they broke into it. What a blast.
