If it were radioactive and chemiluminescent it wouldn't need to be charged by a light-it would have a constant glow. It's probably zinc sulfide, which is a very common and cheap phosphorescent compound. So no need to worry with a geiger meter or getting cancer. Even if it were radioactive, wouldn't be an issue unless you were constantly touching it.
Hi Fred it's definitely not radioactive, luminous materials absorb light and spits it out again, radioactive permanently glows sending out light but also nastier radiation. I use this tape on table edges in my main front room as when I get home its dark, now its easy to navigate when I get in. Tape from Ebay can be as cheap as 1 pound, and 1/3 is very bright, just with background light even after 8 hours its still bright enough to navigate by, non green are less bright
Anybody knows for how long do these tapes glow in after sunset (light disappearing slowly) ? I'm looking for something to put at the side of the stairs in my house.. Should I spend money on this tape or better just get myself a motion sensor for the lights to go on automatically over the stairs at night ?
You could use luminous tape as a landing strip to guide you towards the loo if you have prostate issues in the early hours. For added guidance use different colour tape on your appendage if you are inebriated. Top vid... great delivery .... 😉
The issue with this is when you run out of power for days at a time like when people have hurricanes, or like us in Texas that recently lost power for a week. You'd spend a fortune on batteries in that case when they are not easy to get, A solution like this works wonders as it can 'charge' during the daytime, and if you do happen to need it at night after its 'charge' runs out you just run a flashlight over it for a few minutes to build it up again. Sure you still need some light to charge it, but in this case you need much less. I might not use this particular brand looking for the most long lasting I can get, but the idea itself is brilliant :)
Lol round your light switch in case of a power cut classic Fred lol. The tape is a mint idea tho Fred. Was it as bright to the eye as it looked through the camera?
@@jamesmanson2152 if you are in a light up room 12 hours a day, the tape would probably be cool to use. but if your not in the room that often or just dont like light up, the tape is pretty much useless
What a Liberty I watch all of your videos except the radio ones and I give you thumbs up on my telly. Perhaps you can't see I'm thumbs you up that sounds wrong. Fred get a torch they're not that dear nowadays blow the budget buy 1 for a fiver lol
cool, even with lighting it looks a perilous trip in and out of the loft. A torch would be sensible up there but nowhere near as much fun. Looking forward to the upcoming video 'dealing with hair loss through radiation poisoning' :) ...but no, can't see any problems these days, some of the luminous paint used on watches back in the 50-60's was genuinely scary.
Hi Fred!! From China you say?! Not without a geiger counter my lad!! Not unless you & the Mrs enjoy having glowing naughty bits! 😀😁😂😆🤣!!!! 🤢💀⚡⚰️☢️!!!! 73 & respect, Norman in Montreal.
