Why do directors of baseball telecasts always cut away right at the moment the outfielder is about to unleash the throw? Let the announcer tell us what the runner is doing and follow the BALL!!!
I was at a Giants game one day and there was a fly ball hit to the track in left field and Jose Guillen caught it and threw home on a guy tagging up from third. He did not do a crow hop or nothin! The runner at third hit the breaks and went back. It was unbelievable.
That is very true. I always thought that Bo Jackson's throw was one of the best ever, but then I came across guillens throw. A lot of people say, that clemente had the best arm ever, so I wanted to get one one of his highlights but I just couldn't find any.
Thanks for posting those lots of the top arms. I liked Jose Guillen. a few years back you had Jessie Barfield in there (from the Jays) and Dwight Evans from the Red Sox to name a few others. Ankiel used to pitcgh, didn't he. that'd be tough, could could pitch from 280' away!i agree with you about Jackon.
Jesse Barfield and Dwight Evans are the two best arms I've ever seen. I think Geraldo Parra has the best outfield arm in the majors today. In the clip he even studder-steps before getting the throw off and had Puig easily.
Nice video, but you missed a few. Roberto Clemente apparently didn't rate. Neither did Bo Jackson's throw out of Harold Reynolds. Different music, but the throws that you did show were awesome....
This isn't even a list without Roberto Clemente game 6 throw from the warning track that held the runner on third you want to see a real throw look that one up Clemente had the best arm in mlb history
You want to see some great throws, Rick Ankiel has had some beauties. He still has one of the best arms in the OF today. I saw him throw out Puig on a rope at 3rd and he could have had a sandwich in between before hand.
So you have Kirk Suzuki yet the two best Catching arms of the past 20 years aren't on here in Yadi Molina and Pudge Rodriguez? Also, you forgot Roberto Clemente who perhaps has the best Right Field arm ever.
You are missing throws from catchers like Ivan Rodriguez, and the great Johnny Bench, both of whom were the best at throwing out baserunners trying to steal, as well as were some of the best plate blockers ever. Props that you showed Gary Carter. If you're going to include catchers, include some of the best, will you? I'm glad you showed Bo Jackson's and Dave Parker's classic throws. But either just show throws that are all newer, or add more throws that include Clemente, Foster's '75 WS throw to Bench in the Historic Game 6, and others from players in or needing to be inducted in the HOF, as well as plays from guys other than Joe Ferguson. Your biases are showing.
I had the pleasure to see Bench play live and in one game hit 3 home runs, I remember 4 but am told no way. So I don't know which, but he was a phenomenal catcher to watch at the plate. He'd never get out of a crouch n throw out runners, what power.
If Bo learned how to use the momentum of his body and not just his arm, he would have arguably had the best arm ever. But there's no doubt in my mind, with all these great play we've seen here, and I've always argued Vlad had the best arm I've ever seen, my Grandfather always said Clemente without question had the best arm he's ever seen. And he's seen some of the best that have ever played.
I was watching this video thinking the entire time, "man, he better have put Gullen's throw in here or this video is dogshit." Well played. I don't think I've ever seen a more impressive throw.
Great Vid...how about Raul Mondesi and Pudge Rodriguez? I thought Jeff Francauer's mom made this video for a moment...hell of an arm but he's still a bum.
