These are all great throws, but the part about the Puig throw that puzzles me is how he even though he couldn't get his feet fully into throwing position, and therefore doesn't get all the hip and shoulder rotation you'd want to get, it doesn't look like the ball goes any slower. He's practically running to his left and throwing to his right, and still throws it on a line.
My compliments for how you did the music..You let us hear the play by play and did not drown it out with the music. Some people believe the music makes the video..but in baseball the play by play and the actual event make it. Music just adds a little spice, as you have demonstrated so well.
I'm a Yankees fan but you have to give mad props to Manny. He freaking kicked the ball and somehow still got enough control of the ball to throw it against his momentum. Looked like the ball got sucked into his hand like in Madden.
For me this was the best throw of the year: Parra throws out Puig going for third For those that cant be bothered it's Parra gunning down Puig at third. Absolute missile. So glad he got the recognition he deserves for his D this year.
I don't like to insult people on the internet since communication on the internet is both very impersonal and very personal at the same time, but since I have now twice received the same stupid response to my comment I am going to make an exception. "...not that great of a play overall...BUT THE THROW IS STILL SPECTACULAR" !!!!!!! "This was a comment on the sloppiness of the fielding, not the merit of the throw." Just because the video focuses on the merits of the throws DOES NOT mean that I am not allowed to comment on other aspects of the video. I could, if I wanted, comment on their uniforms. Or I could comment on the announcers. Or I could even comment on the physics at work in #6 that causes the trajectory of the ball to curve. Thus, I can only conceive of two explanations for your comment: 1) you misread my comment and thought I was saying that #1 was not a great throw (which is not true; I said much the opposite), and you (stupidly) responded without double checking to make sure you understood what I was saying; or 2) for some reason your mind is so hard set and inflexible (aka stupid) that you are unable to consider things from any other perspective except for the one that is explicitly stated. Either way, you are an idiot and it would be in the best interest of everyone's psychological health if in the future you refrained from posting such idiotic comments. How you go about completing this task is up to you. You could stop posting altogether, or you could take more care when posting to ensure that you understand what other people are saying and that what you are saying logically correlates. I don't give a shit which you choose. But until you do, shut the fuck up and fuck you. Have a nice day. -_-
ALL sick in their own right, but for me the trajectory on the Hicks throw and the tag on the Reddick throw make them my top 2, with Beltran at number 3 because of its playoff pressure and importance. But im being picky here. All super throws. Love it!
its so crazy watching this if uve seen billy Hamilton tagging up from third on that very shallow hit to center I mean the ball was caught 20 feet from second and he still made it home. then to watch this and the people cant get 90 feet from a ball hit into the deep outfield. it just blows my mind. if uve never seen the clip just look it up im sure its all over the internet
If anyone has ever watched Brett Lawrie play third, he is one of the most exciting defensive players in the game. Doesn't get any recognition, but he should be right up there with Machado or higher. He is no Scott Rolen but a darn good fielder for sure.
+Jack Engel Yah, some of the best. What makes this so amazing and the reason baseball players are underrated as some of the best athletes in the world. The skills to both hit and make these insane defensive plays. With the exception of the DH, you can't just do one or the other. Very specific skills disparate skills. Insane.
I think the day after Puig's throw to 3rd, ESPN had a story about how the throw was an accident and that the ball actually came out of his hand at the wrong time (clearly turned out to be fine).
Ah come on. Hicks waited 'til he got off the base to pick up that ball and throw him out 'cause Hicks knew he could do it. That base runner never saw it coming. That's why I called it greedy. It was a gamble to go for a third. Double was easy. Triple not so much. He knew if he picked up the ball as he reached 2nd he wouldn't have run for 3rd.
How in the hell is (Insert baseball player here) of the (insert baseball team here) not on this list? I've seen him throw out (exaggerate number or runners here) while (exaggerate importance of game and feat here)! THIS IS (insert random gripe here)
just learning baseball and ima lefty so im just wondering when you throw a ball, do you follow through with your left foot as ur throwing or do you keep it planted on the ground.
No surprise but you missed Alex Gordon, who only had something like SEVENTEEN outfield assists in 2013... a couple from the left field wall to home on the fly. At least the AL players know, you don't run on Alex Gordon.
camera angles from ground level let you appreciate these a lot more... also.. note how much they aim away to compensate for the ball to tail (obvious with #6) 1:40
#9 Superb umpire mechanics. The second base ump goes out to cover the fly ball, The third base ump hustles to second to cover there and yeah that's the PLATE UMPIRE who ran 90 feet up the line in full gear to be in perfect position to punch out the runner at third.
george clooney If there was a more boring announcer than Vin Scully he would be DEAD,. Good Gwad even the Dodgers deserve better than that count Dracula voice of his. Can you imagine a girl having an orgasm in that voice???
nobody's arm impresses me quite as much as Ichiro's. His mechanics are just perfect. 172 lbs and he throws fucking LASERS... and for strikes. To third, to home, to 2nd, wherever. You don't run on that man.
Everyone is going to have their opinions BUT....Gerardo Parra gunning down Yasiel Puig at 3rd base from right field, then giving him the Dikembe Mutombo finger wag had to be on here and it wasn't. It was also the second time last year he nailed him which made it even sweeter.
