Great reaction. The easy symbolism: The black leather jumper is similar to Elvis' outfit he wore on the 1968 comeback special, the red guitar is exactly the same one he used in that same special, and the iconic beehive hairdo is the same one Priscilla Presley made famous in the 1966-1968 timeframe. My interpretation of other symbolism - the removing of the dust covers signified dusting off an old classic and revitalizing a beloved song from a long ago era. The little girls, who were her two cousins and her sister depict her life in music growing up and developing surrounded by the old classics which shaped her love of music. Angelina is the classiest, most authentic, musically intelligent, and talented artist I have had the privilege to witness in my 57 years. This performance was a masterful re-interpretation of this iconic song. Mad respect to the King of Rock and Roll from the Queen of Jazz.

Here is a classic example of what this ethereal talent, Angelina Jordan, can achieve she takes a mundane song and turns it in to phenomenal classic. Angelina at 16 is the MASTER of her universe, she is top priority for both Stargate, and AJ's voice has been unique since she was 7 years old and now at 16, she controls us as an audience, leaving us hang on every word and phrase

When you said this made you spellbound, I thought about how Angelina mesmerized the audience with Bohemian Rhapsody. This is the 2022 equivalent of that performance. She sings the same lyrics as Elvis and Freddie did, but the emotional impact is completely different-and we’re spellbound by the way Angelina brings the lyrics to life with her uniquely beautiful voice. Angelina’s gift to us is making us not just hear the lyrics, but we also feel them. Any lyricists should hope that Angelina chooses their song because she delivers the message like no one else.

I can't get enough of this version by Angelina. Rich, textured, emotional...just brilliant. She is spellbinding.

The song was written by Mark James. In the Wikipedia entry of the origins of the song, he is said to have remarked "That late one night, he was fooling around on his Fender guitar and using his Hammond organ pedals for a bass line and came up with what he thought was a catchy melody. At the time, he was married to his first wife but still had feelings for his childhood sweetheart, who was married back in Houston. James's wife had suspicions about his feelings. He felt it was a confusing time for him and that all three were "caught in this trap that they could not walk out of." Other singers covering this song invariably base their performance on that of Elvis, in that it is very "upbeat". Angelina took a very different path in that she read and understood the lyrics and what Mark James intended when writing them . To my mind, her rendition is much truer to the emotions of the song. The children appearing in the video were Angelina's cousins Aurora (first) and then Athena - daughters of her uncle Michael Astar, and then her sister Juliette. I would hazard a guess that they were included to emphasise that children are very important to Angelina and her family. Confession! I have never been a great fan of Elvis Presley, although I do like some of his earlier recordings, and I had never heard of the song "Suspicious minds" but knew that Angelina would completely take ownership of it, and she did. It was beautiful. After listening to it several times, I decided to download the lyrics to see whether she kept to the original structure. She didn't, and the song is all the better for it. For me, that she started with the Bridge of the song is very significant and, I feel, very indicative of Angelina's "up front" transparency. She was declaring that it was important that their love did not die, and then carries on to say why she feels as she does. Others first say how they feel and then, almost as an afterthought, assure their love they don't want it to end. For me, it is whether I feel the singer is genuine about the situation and wishes it could be resolved or whether the singer understands the situation but thinks the blame is on her/his partner but feels the need to assure them they don't want it to end (until somebody else comes along).

I’ve been attending Angelina’s live concerts in Norway 🇳🇴 recently her stage presence has been phenomenal her live vocals amazing, Angelina is so talented and special, and Norway is an amazingly beautiful country to visit!

My interpretation of the symbolism of this music video: First, and foremost; Angelina Jordan at 16 is the epitome of a Storytelling ARTIST, and she has the ability to take us by the hand and lead us down an imaginary path that we visualize as reality. The remarkable fact is that we experience this in each of her performances. In this video we see her as a married woman in her mid to late 20s. As the video starts out, we see dishes, and it is a symbol of a home. As AJ sings the phrase “Were caught in a trap, I can’t walk out” we see 3 small children, this to me is a marriage where the children come first. If it were AJ by herself, she would not stay in a relation without trust. AJ adapts the performance to pay homage but then makes it her own and so much better than the original.

This video production is pure Angelina Jordan's Genus in full display filled with symbolism from the dust on the piano representing the past, to Elvis's leather jumpsuit and the Red guitar he play during his comeback 1968 tour. Angelina's hairdo style that Priscilla Presley wore in the '60s was called the Bumblebee. The lyric "she was just a child" Priscilla Presley was 14 yrs old, Elvis was 24 when they met in 1959 at a party when he was serving in the Army in Germany. They were married in 1967 at the Aladdin Hotel in Las Vegas she was 21 and he was 31yrs old. The song "Suspicious Minds" represented their relationship beginning to fall apart due to Elvis's drug addiction and numerous affairs, and their marriage divorce in1972.

Great to see you back again! I know having covid and a new family to care for plus work and life in general takes up a huge amount of time. Wait till you're parent of two with 9 grandkids along with all of the extended families. I had to retire so I could keep up with the birthdays and every known holiday. Elvis did this song as a cover and kept it in the original upbeat style. Angelina listened to the story and arraigned the song to suit the mood as it should be. Genius! And her voice is the best it's ever been.

Welcome back Schnell! Glad everyone is doing well now. Her Grandma Mery helped produced this. She used the same store, Melrose Gallery, she used for her My Funny Valentine video. Her sister Juliette was the older girl and the 2 younger girls are her Uncle Mike's kids. 2- time Grammy winner Rob Christie is on piano once again. The beehive hairstyle was to honor Priscilla Presley and the time period she met Elvis The black suit and red guitar was a classic look for Elvis when he did his comeback special. What a performance and homage to The King! She has a lot more texture and depth in her voice now and she' still just 16!

Baby's and toddlers getting stuck a few times apparently is beneficial for building their immune system. Doesn't make it less scary, but it is nice to know perhaps :-) This such an wonderful video production. The visuals are wonderful with her pulling off covers of old treasures of the past and bringing it into the present and her cousins and sister giving the impression of her coming from the past into the present. And if course all the Elvis visuals: het Priscilla hairdo, het 1968 come back tour red guitar and black leather suit, the microphone and also the red suit Rob Christie (the guy slaying it at the piano) is wearing is era appropriate. The arrangement, the slower tempo, the crystal clear piano play, and the melancholy in her voice really make me hear the story of love being destroyed by distrust and make me feel it. I love how she uses the bridge as an intro and as an outro and how she comes in with let. Yeah she is getting better and better and she has still about a decade to go before her voice fully mattress. Hi Schnell, first and foremost, your little one is the most important. Second AJ gave a bunch of concerts in Norway, now that she finished school. She is now a professional. She was so happy in Norway, she giggled, laughed and cried happy tears. Sarah, her mom told in an interview, I think, her album of AJ´s original songs, will come out next year. After Norway, she visits Japan, her grandad´s home country, for concerts and family. In Norway, First she was at Alsang Pa Grensen for 2 songs, than she did her concerts in Sandefjord, Kurbadhagen, than Kongsberg and again Kurbadhagen. The organizer there asked her family back, because they sold so many tickets all around the world, they had to. You and your fam, get well, stay safe and please react to the new Angelina. Schnell, one thing you should take notice of is how they used her cousins and her sister to represent her growth. As quickly as it happens in the video is how quickly your six-month old will grow 😉.
