Your bookmarks are from the Dream Raven Tarot Deck by Beth Seilonen. Congratulations on all your great finds! There is a saying around tarot tube, "If you are meant to have a certain tarot deck it will find it's way to you".I'm para-phrasing but you get the idea lol. My favorite find was your Luna Sol, I would like the ease of shuffling it with the lighter cardstock. I like buying second hand decks and dings/dents on boxes don't bother me. The way I see it is the boxes job is to protect the cards so being a little banged up just shows it is doing its job. I find that satisfying some how.

It's so uncanny but I have recently acquired so many that like you, I have been trying to get for ever it feels lol like Connected & Free, Lumina Tarot,(I did purchase the beautiful French editions of these not long before getting the Indies versions and the I'm so happy to have both sets of both!) The Lili White (all within the last year or so). I was lucky enough to find the Indie versions of two decks by Theresa Hutch quite a while back now also. 'Salty Bitches' is firmly on my radar now too...it's right up my street and as you say, so much fun 😂💖

Really interesting conversation about the sustainability of deck buying! I bought Ari Wisner's Transient Light Tarot when it was indie. I was intrigued by the fact that it was locally printed (UK), on recyclable cardstock and it came plastic free! When it got picked up by Hay House I think they stuck to these specs and sent it out plastic free. It just makes me wonder if they could do that for this deck, why can't they do it for all others?

Eugene Vinitsky decks are always quite expensive and lovely quality. I found recently he is not selling them anymore. He made a video he is very distraught because of the Chinese knockoffs that are being sold of his decks.

Paper makers almost always use FSC certified papers. They would go out of business if they cut down trees without planting new ones. Since most decks are not recycled or thrown away, the landfill issue is not as relevant either. I'd like less shrink wrap and decks that are shrink wrapped inside a box that was shrink wrapped. That's more environmentally disruptive than the decks themselves.

I do my best to trade or buy second hand when I can. Now that you are ordering the Lili guide book you might as well get Lili Black too. I am sure you can get a French edition of Connected and Free. Nice price on that though. It kills me that we don’t have these stores in Utah.

I'm looking at purchasing the fantastic creatures deck and I think it's us games ,but yea I agree I wish they would be more economical made

I have a fairly simple perspective on deck sustainability. Paper is a renewable resource, so I don't worry about buying or using paper products. Yes, I know paper production is not completely without issues. But growing trees is good for the environment. Paper will biodegrade in a reasonable amount of time, in general. So I use and consume paper products without worrying about it too much. I'd rather work with paper products over plastic, though due to disability issues I use both. As far as crystals, they are often byproducts of the mining for other minerals needed for other purposes, like cell phone and computer and car production. I prefer to buy crystals sourced more ethically with more eco-friendly mining processes and mines that treat their workers ethically, but that may not always be possible or known. So I don't have major issues purchasing crystals either, though some may think that's short sighted. With both my decks and my crystals, I do try to mindfully purchase and cultivate my collections so I'm buying what I believe I will enjoy and utilize. But I personally just don't resonate with all the decluttering and minimalism that is going on in the Tarot and Crystal communities. Tarot and Crystals are my hobbies and I enjoy mindfully purchasing and adding to my collections.

This is only peripherally related to topic, but I wish everyone would double think getting a plastic straw in their water or soda or fancy coffee/ice cream drink. Not to be preachy, but it is kind of scary to look around a restaurant and see all those straws sticking out of everyone’s drink.

Connected and free is mass market in french! For 32€ (31.79 usd) if you don’t speak French you can use Google translate for the guidebook? (For me it’s not a problem as my second language is french, first is dutch) If some of you really want it you can make it work! ✨

Plastic is here to stay, paper is getting scarce. Plastic is lighter and transport therefore is cheaper. Making paper uses a lot of sweet water and we are running out of sweet water. So many considerations to be discriminating in purchasing new decks. A lot of indie decks are also printed in China, as are mass produced decks.
