A part of City of the Immaculata's Amazing Saints Stories: A short narration I wrote about the inspiring story of 16 unlikely revolutionaries, true revolutionaries, who overthrew a satanic regime in an act that teaches us the truly traditional Christian response to evil and injustice.

The best book on the true history of these martyrs is "To Quell the Terror" (1999) by Professor William Bush. The background of this monastery and the individual nuns, as well as a narrative of political events is far more astounding than the fictional treatment in the novella "Song at the Scaffold" by Gertrude von le Fort; which in turn was the basis of Poulanc's magnificent "Dialogues of the Carmelites", the finest Opera written in the 20th Century.

The French Revolution definitely gave us many inspiring saints. I'm referring to the martyrs, of course, but also those saints who exhibited courage and persistence during the persecution (e.g. Madeleine Sophie Barat). Thank you for sharing 🙏🏻

Bl Pinot going to the guillotine in his vestments is one of the most moving modern iconic images. And I agree, the Vendee revolt in particular is a story that more often needs told.

More people need to know this. There's an old movie that depicts the scene in all its horror and beauty. I don't remember the name of it, though I'm sure the scene is on RU-vid somewhere.

It's one of my absolute favorite stories. Young Sister Constance's martyrdom in particular effects me every time I read the account.

Hollywood....before it's descent into blasphemy and filth , made many fine , noble movies..... Ben Hur The Ten Commandments The Story of Ruth The Inn Of The Sixth Happiness Sodom And Gomorrah The Story Of Esther Sargeant York The Hiding Place Joan Of Arc The Song Of Bernadette Les Miserables Scrooge ( 1951 ) and no doubt many others... So many timeless classics , well worth watching over and over again..🙏

Please read Karol Markowitz’s book about American indoctrination of Schools. The author was born in Communist Russia! Very insightful how the powers that be use children to voice their concerns. Thumburg on climate change. Who can argue with her she’s a child!

Whenever the children of conservatives see the light and start respecting their fellow man and loving their neighbours, their parents always claim they have been "corrupted" by whatever group they think is the latest threat to "good" "Christianity". Scare quotes because there is little that is good, much less Christian, in conservatives. These women were saints. Can the clergy of the French Church say the same of their behaviour during and after WWII? Can the Vatican? The saints are often saints in spite of the Church, and their sanctity is as much a rebuke to the Church as it is to the Devil.

@@wfcoaker1398 Almost every Saint had radical obeidence to the Church, and the more obedience that they had the greater they were praised. You either have a kindergarden understanding of the lives of the Saints or have some other serious issue to say something as ignorant as what you said. Your comments on "Conservatism" dont mean much since we dont view Church through the lens of american politics where conservatism just means capitalism + whatever the trends were a few decades ago.

Years ago, I saw a documentary of the Martyrs of Compiegne including their part in the history of the French Revolution. I want to find it again. This is not the well known "Dialogues" production. Please let me know.
