These songs are far from "forgotten". As far as the West Coast Experimental band, (Bar & Grill) I think the more popular song from them was "Shifting Sands" great song! And it's a "waltz" too boot! 😊 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uZmlLl9a_uM.htmlsi=PVpV3X9IyBNlgyqj

It would help if a degree of accuracy was supplied with your material. As an Australian I can assure you that The Seekers were never forgotten - the fact that the US (and Billboard) has trouble looking beyond its own borders demonstrates the poor amount of knowledge that is displayed in some areas of this video. If you wish to check on The Seekers pedigree I suggest you include Morningtown Ride, The Carnival Is Over and A World of Our Own - the latter one made it to the Top 20 in '65.

I’m a product of the 60s-70s and like my dad said, life was better in his generation. Well, now I’m the old man and I’m here to tell you that my dad was absolutely right! With each passing generation, we lose a little bit more of our humanity and sensitivities. ☮️

Gotta agree. Born in the late ‘50s the ‘60s and ‘70s were important for my childhood, too. My dad is still kicking in his late 80s but started show the summation of the damages done to him over the years. I've listened to just about every one of these songs in my everyday listening. I can't think of a day that I haven't played music and I don't listen to any current music and when I'm not playing my own library I have on oldies stations. Except for Oasis, The Black Keys, and the first few albums of Marshall Mathers (Eminem) I listen to music from the 1930s - 1980s and it stops there. I was equally confused and irritated at including the Four Tops on this list. However, it appears that the video was trying to speak of The Left Banke, the group that wrote and sung the original version of "Walk Away Renee." When (Reach Out) I'll Be There, Bernadette and I Can't Help Myself all top 10 hits in the U.S., it becomes painfully sad to see the poor quality of the video, creating confusion with inconsistent analysis of the songs in the video

The Left Banke made so many good songs that I discovered a couple of years just before the pandemic. My daughter when she was 4 actually became a fan of “Pretty Ballerina”. @kendenning6517

They haven't been forgotten because we that live thru them still remember. What made them so good was the fact that there wasn't one type of sound. The types of music was as different as the next hit was to the last hit. You never knew what to expect, it was exciting. From the Who to the Beach Boys to Ledzepplin to the Beatles to Motown. All of it was different. We didn't realize how special of an era we lived in. We just assumed it would go on forever. It didn't, beginning in the 90s. And all of it was original, really good music. Now it all sounds the same, both so-called rock & country. What's amazing to me is a lot of today's newer music is trying to sound like the 60s-80s but is still trying to sound like today's top 40. It doesn't work. It's ripping off the oldies and butchering the music. The rest is the same old same old. What a great time it was to live in. There will never be a period like those 30 years ever again. No matter what you think of us old goats, we had the best music ever.
@grizwoldphantasia5005
@grizwoldphantasia5005 3 месяца назад
What I miss most about that era's music was that radio stations, including KSAN you mentioned, played everything -- Jim Kweskin's Jug Band, Alice's Restaurant (the full 18 minutes without interruption), Jefferson Airplane, all the songs you mentioned. It was a variety you can't get now. Spotify and such don't have any of that eclectic mix.

i can't help but notice how many of today's "artists" are putting out songs with 2, 3 or more names listed as performer. seems like they can't have much success on their own. this REALLY dilutes whatever they are releasing. as long as someone is buying it- that's all they are gonna get...

They are certainly not forgotten in the UK on the radio stations that play sixtees music. I was a grade schooler in the 60's, I had older siblings though who turned me on to demon rock n roll. For me the most iconic 60's song that expressed the spirit of the late 60's was Scott McKenzie's "If You're Going to San Francisco". I still get teary eyed when I hear it. “Reach Out of the Darkness,” “Western Union” and “I See the Light” were absolute favorites that you don’t hear. What’s sad to me is that classic rock and pop music from the sixties and seventies has been whittled down on so many radio stations to maybe a top 100 or so songs, if even that many. We had such great music, then, but often many songs were favorites in one part of the country, and less so in another. It’s a shame that they aren’t played along with the rest. The radio stations have become as boring as Top 40; you hear the same songs played over and over again, while you rarely or never hear any of the rest. In some cases great writers and performers are never played no matter how many great songs they’ve written. It’s a shame.

Love, Turn Down Day, and Red Rubber Ball. great number., Love Walk Away Renee. Another great song. Four Tops had their own hits Reach Out was a favorite. . Geogry Girl was a great number used in the movie of the same name. Enjoyed the Rascal's, the Spoonfull, the Byrds did great Dylan covers. Donavan had a string of hits. Songs like, A Whiter Shade of Pale, and Nights in White Satan graced the New York airwaves, Getting Good Vibrations from the ever creative Beach Boys, we have barely scratched the surface as to how great the sixties music was. Increadible, so many excellent songs, Like a renascence in music and technology.

Yes I have heard of The Seekers because to this day they are one of the most highly regarded acts in Australia. By the way, Red Rubber Ball, (which was covered a number of times), was co-written by Seekers member Bruce Woodley. Woodley stated that Simon tried to buy him out and claim full composing credit. Even though Woodley refused to go along with it, he still struggled to get royalties from the song.

I would like to add something I was sharing the other day. When these singers/groups had a concert, they would have an opening act of someone trying to get into the industry. My first concert was Blood, Sweat and Tears. Everybody there agreed their opening singer was better than them. Some guy named John Denver. There was a group called Jerry and the Pacemakers. Their opening group was some group called the Beetles. Remember them, ha-ha? When the Beetles became very popular, they switched with Jerry and they became the Beetles opening act, until the Beetles became so popular they did not need an opening act anymore. Ah, what memories, what memories the songs in this video bring back. I do have CD's of a lot of the groups from back then and still listen to them. They actually knew how to sing, not scream like today's singers do.
