Nothing against Sawtooths! They did become my favorites after I "negotiated" one into helping me with my first Thunderjaw. I really hope you can ride one in the sequel.
@@lettherebedragons8885 A pet Sawtooth is the best weapon for two things: 1. Clearing herds. Quite viciously,I might add. 2. Distraction and support against larger machines. Even the Ravager, it's younger,more advanced sibling,does not usually show it's propensity for direct combat,often preferring longe range combat. While superficially prudent, it leaves it vulnerable to unexpected or largely unavoidable attacks, particularly Glinthawks in my experience. In contrast, a Sawtooth never seems to stay put,and it's got one mean slap. Can kill a few Grazers with just one if stacked right! I always wished to keep one. What a shame.
When i took down my first *thunderjaw*...i was healing my self but suddenly another one was behind me(he came from nowhere) and he finish me off! The moral of the story is *Do not celebrate early*
First it was Scrappers. Then it was Sawtooths, damn I remember how terrified I was. THEN, there were the Bellowbacks. Yeah, they weren't that scary but pretty annoying. And then I met this guy. Took me 5 attempts on hard to even get him half down because I never realised how GOOD THE SHARPSHOOTER BOW WITH TEAR ARROWS ACTUALLY IS UNTILL I GOT LEVEL 25
I was super under level when I entered a cauldron and encountered my first Bellowback. Taking it down after the fourth attempt was so satisfying after learning what parts to aim for first. Probably in my top 5 games of all time.
I once took an entirely different way cuz i didn’t wanna deal with sawtooths so now in horizon forbidden west (which ive just started) im gonna unlock all the overrides first before doing the quests cuz im a scaredy cat
This might be my favorite game I have ever played. The story is so unique and it’s such a great concept. The combat is also so fun and rewarding. I absolutely adore this game. I can’t wait for the sequel.
I just love the progression this game has for the players, like you can literally have the same gear but your first thunderjaw kill vs your 50th one will be so monumentally different purely based on experminatation of what works the best, what to to remove first, what element gives the best advantage etc.
I just finished a HZD replay in anticipation of HFW coming out this year. Remember the Stormbird you had to fight or disable the lures? The first time I played, I went through the whole struggle of killing it, but this time I went around and just disabled the traps. The amazing thing about this game is there's no right or wrong way to killing a certain robot. That's what makes this game so enjoyable.
I remember the first time I saw the thunderjaw I was on my way to Meridian city and I well I thought I had some big cajones and got closed to it on my strider but when it started charging at me I high tailed it outta there and was like nope I want no problem with you at all. XD
OMG this fight was too long and really bad I use never Explusion BOmbs for low MAchines The Sawtooth kills you in 3 steps 2-3 Fire Arrows for burn then 3-4 Ropes then 1 - 2 critical and then again 2-3 fire arows that`s it ANd why you dont use the heavy gun from the thunderjaw too kill the thunderjaw both guns take him half life away
what i love about this game is that the enemies are actually challenging to fight! you actually need strategy in order to take em down. not many games make you play like that cause most other enemies in games are just cannon fodder lol.
Agreed. EveryThing in here feels like a boss fight, but then the actual story driven boss fights are rediculous. I'm really glad they made it like this
I'm about to do a new game plus run.. I don't want to but... There's two skills I'm missing and I'm almost at cap level. I just don't want to lose the power armor ability.
Indeed. Nothing beats a walk through places like the Northern reaches of Nora territory, or the deserts of the Sundom,or even the worst snowstorms of the Cut. The latter takes some getting used to,though. The Cut is hell,and you will love it. Eventually.
Destroying a thunderjaw on the hardest difficulty just took me back to dark souls man. I ran it back like 50 times trying not to get hit once. When I finally killed it… it was glorious.
I hate that when you think you are using a particular weapon and you're ready to lay that perfect trap only to realize you actually have something else. Happens all the time with my freeze and shock arrows.
The first time I fought one, it was with only tearblast arrows, precision arrows and hunter arrows. Took a few tries, but eventually a passing carja company joined into the fight and was able to finish the thunderjaw off with its disc launcher.
I fought one of these in an almost buried highway in the desert with a sandstorm and that was crazy. Forbidden west is by far the most beautiful game I ever played. And the story is so good. All these little details like aloy sweating in the desert, of the sand moving in the air, how the sand move when she walks on it and when you kills a machine, you actually see the the shape of the parts in the sand when you pick them up
You make a great point! When I did this video the game had just come out and I didn’t really know what the best approach was. I just sort of went in flying by the seat of my pants, haha! I’ll try this next time.
hahaha I played this game the first time with ultra hard difficulty without knowing what to do hahaha good thing I played soulsborne just to give the game some punch and it turns out somehow nice
Prepare tearbllast arrwo shot all thunder jaw gun i recomanded you shot tht canon in the back and then use freeze bomb and the bomb I recomanded you to shot two gun at thunder jaw head so he can chase you to to figth close combat it easy for you to set up a trap if he go to you extra tips you can use thunder jaw canon disk after tht component remove
As you progress along the game, it gets easier to kill the big ones...The easiest way is to shoot a whole bunch of trapwires next to eachother and lure the beasts towards it.They will be dead in no time, whitout taking any damage yourself.When you unlock the invulnerability suit,...you can just kill them by hand...Search HZD instant kill on You-Tube, there you can see the multiple trapwire method in action.
@@Catch_me_if_you_can_666 the trip wires isn't reliable though since most times you'll probably be spotted setting the trap or one of the following idiots set it off (Glinthawks Sawtooths Watchers Lancehorn or the ravagers) before the thunderjaw gets to it.
I’ve only played the game on the hardest difficulty and when the thunderjaw does a tailwhip and lands it, it’s an insta kill. In the dlc the daemonic thunderjaw took at least 15 minutes to kill ( I did it in two attempts on ultra hard ) and I used the special power shot bow to deal more damage. I tend to freeze bigger enemies so I can damage them a lot easier
So I bought a PS4 for Spider-Man and red dead redemption 2 and in the process of beating Spider-Man (incredibly amazing game, really makes you feel like spitty) and waiting for red dead redemption 2 I bought horizon to try it out, I never played it before and never watch any videos or anything it just looked like a cool game. Dude this has to be the best RPG I have played since gta sandreas, everything about it engages you more and more into the game. I have nothing but amazing things to say about this game. Will definitely buy the sequels to come I just hope they keep on making the game better🔥💯
Only Dark Souls are bttr than HZD..lol..you didn't see full potential of both of the games..why i think so? Hzd gives you a real potential of things that was happened,what's gonna happen and what will happen..in Dark Souls we learn of that mistakes..on your very skin..if you beat that you're a gamer..if you beat Silent Hill w so much pleasure..you're a gamer..if you find a glitch,you're a gamer..when you'll see even more what game has to offer..you gonna be blessed..Praise the Sun.. Although The Witcher 3 is "better" with a bigger story and monstruous huge world that actually rewards exploration - HZD does beat it with Battle Gameplay! There's nothing in the world like slowly disarming a huge mechanical dinosaur and running for hell to get cover!
I just bought a ps4 for ff7 next month. But had this game come with it. Since I always wanted to play this. I thought this is the moment. Really like the game. This might be the worst thunderjaw battle I have ever seen. But if you like this game. I would say play far cry primal. It's basically the same but without robot dinosaur. But hunting a Sabertooth is sweet. Aldo they will first be hunting you.
Hitting canisters on a Thunderjaw (or any large machine) can drastically shorten a fight. Unfortunately, the War Bow is unfairly inconsistent, so you’re better off shooting the Thunderjaw’s weakpoints, of which is has plenty. Tearblast arrows to either side of the base of its neck reveal the heart, and though it doesn’t show it very often, consistently sniping that will quickly rack up tons of damage. Bombing the top of its head knocks off the plates covering another weak point that’s much easier to hit. On Ultra Hard, they won’t come off, but tearblasting its disc launchers allow you to pick them up in the ultimate uno reverse card. Don’t forget to stun and tie down the Thunderjaw whenever your situation starts getting hairy.
Good way to reinforce HEPHAESTUS' hate for humanity if one little human can take down its Thunderjaws. Might as well inspire it to create smaller hunter killer models.
I like how they don't have modifications on their weapons, reminds me when I first played this, I equipped common modifications and never touched it again. Took me forever to take down big machines
Want a real challenge? Fight a corrupted thunderjaw in very hard mode with blast bombs, blast tripcaster and precission arrows only Mounts are also usable

I played this game at maximum difficult level and there are not healthbars over the enemies at that level. It was crazy to have a lot of battles like this and having no idea how long it would have lasted before it finally goes down destroyed.
Back again in animal planet, you can see a robot t rex called, the Thunderjaw, a beatiful, yet dangerous robotic speices of a dinosaur... And you can also see, a tiny scared beaver running for its life from the thunderjaw.... HOW GRACEFUL!
I remember opening a big present on Christmas of 2017. When I unwrapped the present I became extremely happy as soon as I saw a big blue box on which ‘PS4 Pro’ was written. There was a another present in which this great game was wrapped. The joy I had experienced on that day was on another level.
I absolutely can't wait for this game to come out on PC! That way it will be super cheap in 10 years when I'm able to buy a (currently) high end PC to run this game at a cheaper price!

Haha, yea...some people didn't understand that this was waaaaay early on in the game with limited resources. By the time I got the platinum trophy in HZD I could down these guys in a few shots. :)

I battled my first thunderjaw today during a mission. Killed it on a third try. Used tearblast arrows to remove its launchers first, used the launchers against it, then had to shoot with hard arrows. This game is awesome! I'm anticipating my first stormbird battle, gonna be very scary!
i remember to had to pass through a thunderjaw site on my way to meridian for the first time and nearly had a heart attack trying to ride past without conflict. now i just fast travel to the thunderjaw site w two of them in the little canyon (you know the one) and farm them whenever i want shards and coils- (stormbirds though... what a pain in the ass. i just tie them down and spam arrows)
I remember when you first leave day tower, I went down a path way and the storm bird was in the way, I remember first seeing the storm bird flying around off in the distance from day tower but I didn’t realise there was another one flying around to my left close to day tower. I had to fight it haha but eventually killed it and wasted so much ammo. I straight away went and to find the thunder jaw and it was fighting Nora tribes people, so I helped them kill the thunder jaw. Then I snuck past another thunder jaw on my way to meridian cause I didn’t want to fight another one
Easiest way to defeat a thunder jaw is to go for its disc launchers (use the tearblast arrows on them, if you have the double shot skill then use it to remove it and use it against it, does massive damage once removed and does a more when used), and then go for the rador located on its back to finish it off
Well this ones are easy with the right tactics. Shoot the disc cannons. Freeze them. And use their own weapons against them and they are finished in less then a minute.
A year ago I remember how much of a bitch it was trying to get a hit on a Thunderjaw, or hauling it outta there for my life. A year later now Im hunting them for sport, and it's still so fire to play! Horizon forever!!
I took my first thunderjaw down at lvl 14... Was disappointed because it didn't give me a crystal braiding I needed for shadow sling. Thinking back on it, thunderjaw is a cake walk compared to fighting the Egyptian fire cat thing from frozen wilds
This is such a good game and it deserves all the recognition it gets. EVERY machine has strengths and weaknesses. If you just went up to every machine and button mashed you would be there all day. Usually with the Thunderjaw I go in stealth. I shoot off the radar first, then each Disc launcher. Technically here with both Disc launchers you can kill the Thunderjaw by using them. Otherwise shoot off its tail, followed by one side panel. Scan for its location. Once off this exposes a weak point. Arrows that hit here will do double damage.
My first time taking down Thunderjaw was in Couldron Zeta..hahahaha..it was my bestest fight of all..the feeling when you can control Thunderjaw and make them fight with each other is EPIC!!!
Get the 3 arrows at once skill, use it with tearblast arrows to shoot the canons on its back (3 arrows for each canon is enough), then empty both canon on the machine and it's down, that's how I take them down! Only take a minute to do so xD
yes but usually it takes 1 arrow to take these off...discs are not always enough to take them down, but u can freeze it and spam dmg arrows...especially on its core weakspots
For those who dont know, you can use your tearblast arrows to shoot off its mini blasters and then pick it up so shoot it with it. It’ll kill it in 10 seconds
