Wow the glitter really helped in seeing how it cured! I don’t know if I would have caught on how it cured from top to bottom if the glitter hadn’t kept moving where it was yet to cure 👍 thanks for showing this to us

I didn't know resin set from top to bottom like that! Plus, it was really satisfying to see the glitter swirl around like space dust as it cured.

Hi, thanks for the video. Some questions - What brand of air compressor do you use to get to 60 psi ? Why did the wings melt ? Why does the acrylic swirl around while under pressure? thanks.

You actually put your GoPro to 4 bar pressure? Brave man!!! Is it intact? You should really send this to GoPro, I think they can sponsor you. Also there is a torch I guess - so two batteries subjected to 4 bar. Brave indeed! I have thought of this but didn't dare to risk my beloved GoPro...

I work with pressure pots and honestly I'm shocked too
@illivetia
@illivetia 3 года назад
@@brandielee7971 it would if you use the one that can go underwater. 40psi is about 2.5 atmospheric pressure which is equivalent to cca 25m depth. If you want to be sure your camera survives, either have it fitted with 30+ water depth gear or use a camera designed for this. GoPro works just fine. And even if your camera can't stand 30+ water level pressure but is fine with let's say 20m, just use lower pressure in your chamber.

Thanks for posting that. It was very interesting to watch. I guess the resin cures at the area with the most resin, first. And that is why it started at the top. Knowing that it cures top down (or most dense out) do you think you will be better able to predict your intentional fractures?

Fantastic video. You've probably already thought of this, but maybe if you tried it in a vacuum chamber rather than a pressure pot it would help to dissipate the heat as the air and fumes are expelled into the atmosphere?

Your comment at the end got me thinking. What if you tried again with the resin on the bottom? Meaning pour the resin into an empty container, put the figure in upside down and then let the wood “float” or maybe just secure it so it’s just under the surface of the resin???

Hi, why is a pressure pot required to cure? Can you get ones that don't require pressure curing?
@sdspivey
@sdspivey 4 года назад
The pressure squeezes the bubbles to the point you can't see them. Not required, but helpful in making clearer casts.

SO Awesome 👌 Thanks heaps for posting it so we get to watch! Fascinating that it cured top to the bottom. Don't know enough about chemicals to know if that's normal or because of the pot? And how did you know the gopro wouldn't crack? I realise they can go down to 5 to 10 m, does that equal 60 psi? Cheers Ben 👌👍👌👍
