AMC 360 first run after cam break in

This video is of a 1974 AMC 360 engine with small chamber "291C" heads, Summit 8601 Camshaft, SA Grear roller timing set, Scorpion roller rockers on adjustable rocker studs and an RPM AirGap intake. For the break in we ran a smallish 600 AFB carb which renders an amazing throttle response due to very high velocity through the small venturies

we used the Summit 8601 camshaft which sounds very tough in the 360 engine with later low compression pistons and the early small chamber high compression heads with 50.6cc chambers

That throttle response is off the chain. What intake and carb. I’m gonna get it. 😍

Vernon tha tengine as an AirGap and Holley 600 for break in. That build can easily support a 650 and even a double pumper on a manual shift car

Wish i had the know how to pull my amc 360 outa my wagoneer and do this.. I just did the rear main seal.. and it still leaks.. lol now my exhaust manifold is leaking.. Uhg never ending leaks on this old engine

The new FelPro rear main seals are defective by being too narrow so the roll over and leak. SCE is the only company that makes the seals correctly at this time.

@@dancurtis3425 uhgg really ? How does it roll over what do you mean by roll over ? ? Because i sware my leak is nearly as bad as it was before lol..

@@dancurtis3425 also.. i found a post from 2021 showing sce and felpro. Are you talking about this ? Where people noticed felpro wire is thicker and the rubber is thinner in the back ? Where the sce. Wire is thinner. With more rubber behind it. ? Is that what you mean ? I noticed this myself that there was almost nearly no rubber behind the wire on one side (oposite side of the actualy rubber lip that touches the crank). And it looks like an original has more meat on the flap? i guess ill order the sce 12905 seal and redo this one more time. If it leaks again though ima be 1000% defeated. My crank still had the amc //////// on it but there deff was a polish ring to it from the old seal so it was nearly worn out for the ///// lines. Uhg this will be fun.. i used rtv to seal the pan and a ton on the front and rear lips like you woukd an intake manifold vs using those rubber flaps... not the cork gasket lol. So ima have fun cleaning that off the block... lol
