Part 1 of 5 videos attempting to clear up the confusion surrounding the Ryzen Master, Precision Boost, Precision Boost Overdrive, PPT, TDC, EDC, AutoOC, Boost Override CPU, etc.
In this video I dive into the details of the interface itself. I attempt to explain what information is presented and how to use the interface. Lastly I discuss what settings can be changed without a reset, which settings require a reset, and which settings are persistent through a reboot.

Thanks for pointing out the best and second best cores. I was doing some OC and CO stuff recently and I got a WHEA for my best core 7 (APIC ID: 14) so I backed off from -30 to -27, then later I got another WHEA for APIC ID: 2 and so I backed off on core 0, which of course is the wrong core! DUH! Even though I knew that core 1 is my second best core, it just didn't click with me until I watched this video. I was thinking _"why did core 0 crash, when core 1 is the next best core"_ and then I realised that I counted wrong! But I think this is good evidence that the best cores will be the first to crash with an aggressive undervolt..

Very nice and concise guide. Can’t wait to try it out myself! I do have some questions though. In your later videos of this series you spoke about single core vs multi core optimization. The only game I play at the moment is guild wars 2, which is notoriously CPU heavy and also super old (DX9 engine). Should I leave the legacy mode on when I do all of these adjustments or is that only available in the “game mode” section of Ryzen Master?

About a year and a half ago I was using this to get great overclocks at 4.3Ghz on my 3950x, but I noticed that I was only getting at best 10% more performance so now I just keep everything stock.

OC mode doesn't show auto Over Clocking. I don't see any CCD. But I am very interested.

Trying to find if there is a default setting that lowers the clock speed while using the app? obv I wouldn't be gaming while doing tweaks, but just noticed it was a thing and if why it sets it to sleep state usage when in use. I haven't done much with it yet hence I'm on video 1 lol

My Ryzen Master running on 1950x does not look like this at all. :( It has MUCH less options. Not sure if there's a different app around.

I have a question for you Gary. In the last part of this series you recommend plugging in the numbers you are happy with into the bios so that you do not have to apply them threw Ryzen Master every time you boot up. Does that add to wear and tear of the MB and CPU if the setting are always overclocked? I do not need to overclock when watching Netflix or RU-vid, but use it when playing games or doing 3D work. So, does having the settings always overclocked reduce the life span of the equipment or is that not an issue? The second part of the question is about the -25 setting I landed with in the bios on the 2nd step of your video. Is it bad to have that setting in the bios if I keep the PPT, TDC, and EDC at the default Ryzen master settings when not playing games or doing 3D work. Sorry if that is a dumb question, I am a layman when it comes to overclocking a CPU. Thank you for your time, and thank you for these videos.

The Threadripper Ryzen Master UI was much friendlier. I got a 5950x recently and boy was I confused when I opened up Ryzen Master for it.

Hey when i apply my oc it goes back to the stock frequency right away. I see it goes to 4.2 when i apply then literally 2 sec later is goes back to 3.6 any idea why? Or how to fix it

While setting my pbo and curve optmizer should i leave my memory at DOCP or leave at the default initial value?

Turn on DOCP. It overclocks the memory controller and you'll want to test that along with curve optimizer. You paid for, get what you paid for, that's my advice.

I'm confused still. So, how do I know what profile it's using? Sure, there's 6 different ones on the left... How do I know which one is applied? Do these change when I launch OBS or play games? If I was going to do eco mode for example to use less power... Do I need to do it on one profile, or all of them?

Can you undervolt your 5950 while using the Rog Crosshair VIII Formula? My friend is only undervolting and beating me on his OC, but he's got the MSI Godlike, and I don't see similar options.

I changed everything but it doesnt apply to the system. It always goes back to the old values. Maybe the bios/asus doesnt allow it via this program?

I have just purchased a Ryzen 5 computer. I downloaded and tried to install Ryzen Master. I got an error message that said it was already installed. So no icon in the start menu and no program in program files or programfiles (x86) indicated RM. Where is the ryzen master EXE file (Or com) located that I can open the program?

Which profile is the default profile ryzen master is running every time you restart?

It depends more on what is set in the BIOS. If you have adjust the BIOS it will determine the values. If you haven't, then the system will resort back to the Motherboard's default values. For my system with a 5950x that was PPT: 142, TDC: 95A, EDC: 140A

Was told I could control my ram speed through Ryzen master it's auto set to 2133mhz and HP locked the omen bios unfortunately I turn on the coupled mode whenever Ryzen master causes the system to reboot it's automatically turning off coupled mode.

You should control that in your BIOS. where you find it kinda depends on the Motherboard you have and the brand

when i use curve optimizer, it everytime either per core or all core, sets the value to -30, and it never crashes while optimizing, 2 hour optimization and it always gives me -30 for every core!! why is that? first i thought maybe i should not thermal limit my cpu before letting it optimize the curves so that it can know which cores becomes to hot (and that thermal limit was preventing that) so i set thermal limit to auto which resulted in the chip limiting the temps to 90 but i still get -30 and when i apply that, i get blue screen. i was able to recover from the boot crashes by modifying max boost clock to -100mhz.

I have the 7 5800x I know they are known to overheat now and that's exactly what's happening to me after reading about it. I'm using a AIO x2 Fan idk if that's the cause or not. I increase the airflow to the case as well because it was bad.

The new UI is confusing and they removed Histogram History Time option. In order to get the histogram to show after enabling it, click on the right facing arrow in the upper left corner above Temp, Speed, Power & Current. Then click on Core Speed to make your CCX cores a bit bigger.

@@Borgor2005 sounds like something is going on with your cooling. I did wind up looking at different videos and screenshots of peoples Ryzen Master screens and it appears that Ryzen 1000 and 2000 series have the dumbed down interface that looks different from TheGrayingTech's. Only way to get the same interface as him is to upgrade.

Best to write in BIOS once you have it all dialed in. Yes you have to reapply after each restart with Ryzen Master.

Yes, BIG IF, If the vendor enabled the BIOS functions. Some do, some don't. If you can get in the BIOS and see anything like "Auto Overclock" or "PBO" or "Auto Tune" those are a good sign the vendor allows you to use Ryzen Master.

hello, Go to Bios by clicking restart in start menu with Shift - In Overclocking section and enable AMD overclocking Feature and set Precision Boost Overrride (PBO) Feature. My motherboard has 3 settings for eatch. OFF/ON/Advanced. Advanced is same as Enabled if values set to AUTO. Advanced is for you to dial OC values like Core frequency and PPT limit, TDC limit and EDC limit manually so you can stop using ryzen master on every boot or Uninstall it.

and you must have B550 or x570 motherboard feature level. A520 board cant overclock.

I went from i7 9700k to a 7900x and a new mobo. I always had intel CPUs I finally took a leap with a ryzen CPU and I had a gtx 1070 with my i7 now I got a 3080 evga I paid £700 for.

I’m having a problem. I followed all your steps and I can’t get my 5600x to boost past 4.2 Running Cinebench it just boosts to 4199 and stays there without any fluctuations at all. I’ve changed PPT, TDC, EDC without any boost change. Temps steady at 30° idle, 60° under load. Is there some sort of limiter or cap I’m not aware of I have switched on?

I bought a 5600X to replace my 3600 and it runs like 100 hz faster, even after tweaks. Complete waste of money. Cannot get it over 4.3

@@koog4108 i found what was wrong, i had both ryzen master and easy tune ( amd oc software and the motherboards oc software ) and they were corrupting one another, so i just deleted easy tune

You can figure it out fast just don't apply nothing right away and start googling the purpose of each setting to help you understand faster. RU-vid videos are not the place but google has many sources from personal experience advice or a complete step by step guide and if you have ADHA just copy paste the info and save it and learn or go as you read. and even if you Apply it and you see a temp spike or "throttling" just reset the RM settings to default then restart pc.

If you have an iGPU, you have to connect to the motherboard HDMI port. Also, try clearing the BIOS/CMOS

I literally had to go find another video where some guy just didn't beat around the bush and he gave me direct answers about everything. My Ryzen Master display has Precision Boost Overdrive greyed out 'for future development' and no Auto Overclocking section - is this a limitation of my CPU? (Ryzen 5 2600)
