Yes, easier to control via "governance" (aka power). But, a growing middle class reduces the need for control / power since people are inclined to behave in ways that are conducive to a civil society making the nation and society stronger. A nation made up of a few elites and many poor is a weak nation because poor are not motivated to defend their misery and poverty and compelling them to do so by force is expensive and no better.

All you have to do is wait in your mud puddle and the Government comes and distributes your ration of crumbs to you. Of course, you never learn to do ... well, ANYTHING. And, you never develop any value. And you're super-easy for the Government to control. They say, "Vote for our party's candidate or we'll take your crumbs away." We had a hand-up system for a short while, called workfare. It was brought to you by Newt Gingrich who dragged along Bill Clinton kicking and screaming. When Bill found how well it worked he was smart enough to take credit for it and rode it to acclaim for himself and his Dem party. But really it was Newt and the GOP who created it. The Dems always hated it because it taught people how to succeed and even build wealth. So, fast forward a few years and who do you think took it away? Yup, it was Barack Obama who returned us to welfare and tossed the poor back into slavery with no hope of freedom.

Not everyone is built or has the personality or mindset to be an entrepreneur or his own boss... Some just want to work 9 to 5 and get their salaries so they can play videogames all weekend long. Or party all weekend long. Some want to get in the race of capitalist competition but decide to stop growing when they get 2 or 3 sales spots, so their businesses don't consume them, and they can get time for their families. And some just go on climbing their stairs of corporate growth. The thing is nothing is for everybody, but everybody should have the same chances of getting there. That's what freedom means. It depends on every individual person if they do what is necessary to get there or not. And like all situations, have a little luck and God's favor too. So a good president and congress should make sure that parity of conditions should be granted. And those who deserve it shall be able to get there. That's meritocracy. No special considerations on diverse things. Just who is best gests the best, because he or she earns it.

Two books I read in high school that greatly impacted me: Rich Dad Poor Dad and The Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey. I’m 36, no debt. I’m about to hit six figures in liquid assets. I started saving right out of college. I’ve a 403b as I’m a teacher, and I started a Roth IRA on the side. I only make close to 60k. But that compounding interest man. I’m just sitting back watching it grow.

The pipeline wasn't done, Biden stop construction of the pipeline. He did that because the only people who benefited from it were oil companies. It gave Canada a way to ship oil to the Gulf and then overseas and the cost of building it going to the Americans. Right now the US is producing more oil than at any point in it's history and oil companies are still selling gas for record profits. This guy wants Trump so he can make more money for himself and his stock holders. So if you think he's doing all this to make America great again, wrong he's looking at his bottom line and hopes to increase his profits and not have to deal with any regulations.

Large financial entities just like private "middle class" landowners work exactly the same way bying out real estate, creating aritificial demand, ramping up rent. Keystone XL wasn't even close to being completed at the time, but due to its cancelation, the Canadian government took ownership of the Trans Mountain pipeline twinning project and got it completed. It doubled our capacity to export cheap WCS blend oil to Asia from the west coast. It made no sense for America to cancel Keystone XL, but Biden did it.
