It's morbid how this show goes above and beyond to traumatize, injure or humiliate the girls for their viewing pleasure. It's sickening

If we can photoshop people's noses and curves, I'm pretty sure they could've photoshopped a giant hole beneath them instead of suspending them over it.

did you see nigel barker confirmed that tyra often chose bad pictures on purpose?? like he would even say "that's not the best picture, that's not the one i chose for best picture" and tyra still ignored him.

I bet if she had actually demanded more attention from Jay she would be ridiculed and shamed for that as well - for not being empathetic enough, being a diva or sth like that.

So, Xiomara goes out of her way to help Catie, only for Catie and the judges to completely throw her under the bus at panel. Not cool...

What they do is sooo manipulative. They create the rivalry between the girls, then the one who is supposedly at fault is at the bottom two but she will be saved so that she is GRATEFUL to the judges and Tyra so that the only negative energy left in the room will be directed towards the other girl. They create the dynamic and then they separate themselves from it so that the girls won't see it. So manipulative.

I'm not a photographer or someone super familiar with climbing gear, but I am a mechanical engineer so I wanted to throw my thoughts into the ring! The girls in this shoot look to be suspended from two braided steel cables, which are extremely strong, not likely to snap suddenly, and have lots of internal reinforcement (from the strength of the material and the woven strands). These are attached the the harness with two thick metal rings, I'm not 100% sure what that material would be, so this reduces the safety of the setup a bit given that there are two points exposed to a lot of stress, and if these fail simultaneously, the girls would be in serious trouble. This is still very unlikely, but not the most safe option. The harness itself is pretty standard and has lots of cross bracing which will add stability and more redundancies -- basically, if one of them snaps you still have plenty holding the harness together. Overall, definitely not the best safety rig, but I wouldn't expect any of the models to be in serious danger of falling.

I had a fear of heights. Went bungee jumping to “face my fears.” Ended up with a much worse fear of heights. Really cruel to do that to someone.

"Theres smoking coming from down there, who lives down there?!" Girl, it's definitely the devil sighing how the show is being unnecessarily evil. This show is notorious for putting these girls through hell and having a laugh about it.

She was definitely not scared when she was throwing Xiomara under the bus in front of everyone, straight up lying when it was clear that Xiomara did everything to help her during the shoot. And then, after the whole scene on panel, she conventionally says she's not feeling good. Gratitude was definitely not present 👌🏼

I think it was a damned if you do, damned if you don't thing. If Xiomara had spoken up and pulled Jay away, they would have called her out for pulling the attention on her when someone is clearly hysterical.

this show just take disrespect to the next level, using someone fear as their "photo shoot" and then roast the contestants

I felt bad for the girl having to face her fear until she didn't even defend the girl that helped her through the entire thing, just sat there in the corner shaking her head. Still messed up that they did that though.

“If your model is CRYING on the photoshoot then you need to reevaluate” YESS!! That is not okay in any sense. And don’t even think about sending her home bc she was afraid. Everyone is different and has different limitations . Couldn’t be me I would’ve walked out the minute I heard of the concept👏👏

We all know if she had demanded that Jay come help her, they would have raked her over the coals for it. They would have called her needy, demanding and dramatic. 🤦🏼‍♀️

The models were fine, those rigs looked perfectly secure. But I saw no tethering or safety equipment on the crew! Any time people are working by an opening without any kind of guard rail there should be some kind of tether! I need Jessica to collab with an OSHA inspector for some of these!

Hearing the girl say “Be careful cause I wanna have babies one day” let’s me know that the harness is painful and cutting into them. Very unnecessary like most things on this show.

Even if the harnesses are perfectly safe, the idea of being held over a giant pit is still extremely scary! It seems like a similar thing to roller coasters, where it's totally safe, but can feel terrifying

I think the basis of this show was for models to adopt the whole “Dog eat Dog” world concept or “only the toughest survive” pinning them always against each other.

As someone with vertigo and is extremely scared of heights... this would’ve made me pass out 🙃

ANTM flubs concept so hard. The theme of this shoot should've been about bold and daring cosmetics. This would've worked much better for a colorful brand of make-up, since everyone's make-up was so extreme and their faces were closer to the photographer than their bodies anyways. Why make this about clothes when the harness and the angle of the pic make it so hard to see what they're wearing? Put the girls in neon monochromatic jumpsuits that compliment their make-up, stand out against the dark background, and allow them to be comfortable.

Green Screen? This show is not about modelling it about making people endure phycological torture to get ratings.

In all honesty, that's actually a REALLY cool location. I can see why they wanted to shoot there. They could have shot literally anywhere in there and gotten some really cool pictures. They just chose the giant hole to scare them.

Considering Xiomara was so chill and supportive of Catie at the shoot I wouldn't be surprised if the producers told her to say that. Also does the "You should have said something" narrative remind anyone else of rape culture? One of the strongest photos but in the bottom 3?!? 🤨

Again, YOU READ THEM SO WELL! if this was still airing, they would be so screwed with you calling it every single ep. They would have to re-write their planned drama every week!

As someone with a true fear height, I would have literally passed out and then fall down the hole lol. The fact they have to have an ambulance on standby means it's PROBABLY not safe

Honestly, the setup was terrible. That was a great angle for taking pictures of a "haunted building", but not with models. The background was too busy and the model got lost. It would have been another story if they had been shot from the top and all you could see behind the model was an endless pit with some smoke... Would've been sick. But they really f-ed up with that angle.

I agree 100%, Photographer > Mr. Jay. He’s there for the commentary for entertainment purposes, and to push the girls to cause drama. The photographer wants to do his job, and get the best photo possible no matter who he’s shooting, and their skill level.

I believe this is when Top Model starts to be stupid with their photoshoots. Season 1 was very very tame looking legit and everything (I know I was shocked too) but season 2 is like "ok how can we make things interesting"

ANTM is pure exploitation. Modeling is secondary to the drama for them. It’s really disturbing to see these girls genuinely fearful and sad, yet they have very little recourse apart from refusing and then getting eliminated.

You should review the episode from the season with plus size model tocarra. There was an episode where they had to model beautiful clothes in front of a sport car. Well, they had a horrible selection of basically nothing for tocarra to wear. Then the judges criticize her because she got frustrated and cried. As a plus size woman, I can relate to going to a store and having everything too small or not fit right and having a meltdown in the dressing room. I felt so bad for her. The judges the entire season were always criticizing her for being plus, one way or another making it a topic often.

And the SECOND a model had tried telling Jay, “no, I need you here right now” they would’ve gotten SLAMMED at the judging panel for being a diva and trying to call the shots! Y’all know it’s true! You literally couldn’t win on ANTM.

I have a severe phobia of mice, like burst into tears at a picture of one. If I was on ANTM they’d be like, “this week you’re going to be laying on the ground surrounded by mice.” I would straight up quit. You can’t just “get over” a huge phobia/fear because you’re asked to.

I know the heights stuff was really horrible for Katie and I’m sorry for her on that but that aside she was one of the models I liked least in the series. She was pretty two faced and immature.

I get these girls have a dream, etc. but NO ONE should be forced to do anything that feels humiliating, degrading, traumatic or forced. Tyra clearly is not the "strong female role model" she claims to be. As usual, it's about money.

The "help yourself" line was very clever; growing up, you're told to look out for yourself before you help others, and it *almost* sounds like good advice when Tyra says it. Along with this, one girl feels bad for being comforted and the other girl feels bad for comforting her and they turn against each other.

Hello ! Young architect here 😁 I'm so soooo shock ! What is shocking me the most is that there is no railing, no barriers where the staff and the model stand, it SHOULD be one ! This is a very very strict conditions on construction site, you should always have a temporary barriers and if not you cannot acces even stairs ! By the way, even with a temporary barriers that's steel very scary. I'm so shock about how this number one safety rule is not respect ! PS : sorry if there is mistakes, I steel learning english 😊
