An American Airlines Airbus A319-112, registration N747UW, performing an HONOR FLIGHT AA1365 from Dallas (DFW) to El Paso, TX (ELP) executed a go-around due to flight control issues. Pilots requested the vehicles to stand by and a water cannon for the US veterans on board from equipment.

IMPORTANT:
This video is all about education. It's designed to give aspiring pilots and air traffic controllers a taste of real-world situations through example scenarios and helpful info. But that's not all! Current pilots and controllers can also benefit by listening to real radio communications from around the globe. This helps them stay sharp and think about how they might handle similar situations.
To create these videos, I keep my ear to the ground on major aviation news and events. I check the dates and time zones to see if I can find recordings of the radio conversations. Then, I become a bit of a broken record myself, listening to them repeatedly to create subtitles and identify key moments. Finally, I whip up some animations (or grab them from ADS-B websites) and combine them into a neat package.

1:50 Pilot: “It’s a right turn?” Glad he was paying attention to the traffic ahead 😳

If I understand correctly, the airliner was on course for 26L - which means he was heading approximately 260 degrees. The controller asked him to turn to 120. From 260, turning right, there's 100 degrees to 360, then another 120 degrees to 120, for a total of 220 degrees. Turning left, however, there's only 140 degrees to turn from 260 to 120. This isn't evidence of disorientation, rather it implies that he was dealing with something out of the ordinary, it's likely that the problem with flight controls was happening earlier, and that he called for a go around because of the flight controls issue, not the other airplane on a parallel approach to a parallel runway.

Honor Flight brings veterans to DC ,at no cost to the veteran, to tour the monuments on the mall, then return them home. On the east coast we do it in one day. Awesome organization, Google the chapter near you and donate!

Very cool. Thanks for posting the flight. It’s interesting to hear what happened from the flight deck vs sitting in the back. Those pilots were heads up and aware. I sure hope they are recognized for this. It may be minor to them, I don’t know, but we trust our lives to them and to me they don’t take it for granted and I really appreciate them - and the ATC! Thanks again for responding and posting!

Pilots always need to be ahead of what is happening. It's always better to go around than it is trying to land if someone is not normal.

This seems organised but also carnage at the same time. What is an Honor Flight, pilot retirement or something?

My father took the flight. It is a 100% free flight supported by donations that take veterans to Washington to the mall and changing of the guard at the tomb if the unknown. It is damned nice.

Honor flight could also be transporting a fallen military member killed in action.

An Honor Flight is conducted by non-profit organizations dedicated to transporting as many United States military veterans as possible to see the memorials of the respective war(s) they fought in Washington, DC, at no cost to the veterans. These organizations are focused on bringing veterans of World War II to the National World War II Memorial, and any veteran with a terminal illness, to see the memorial of the war they fought in

@@mtk52983 - Nah, that would be an Angel Flight. There are stories of aircraft just ahead of Angel Flights going around with an 'destabilized' approach or something similar to give the Herc a clear in.

Flap malfunction. Probably lost a channel or got stuck. Those ECAMs can be tedious and take lots of time to read through.

If that other a/c wouldn’t have got in the way of AA they would’ve been on the ground before all the control issues started!
@efoxxok7478
@efoxxok7478 Месяц назад
Other aircraft had nothing to do with it. As other comments suggested it could have been any number of other issues that would likely come up in the approach at about the time they would be dropping the gear and setting flaps final. Some things to note… It wasn’t an indication of unsafe gear as they would definitely have said that. Likely other issues could be flap dissymmetry, sudden low quantity or pressure in one of the hydraulic systems, or a host of other minor things that would require them to run some check lists and FE brief for the landing. They did have some, if not all the flaps as they would have otherwise let them know of a much higher approach and landing speed and possibly hot brakes. One other note. Pretty sure that was training I; progress in the cab. The trainee said “fly heading 120” without a turn direction, this is allowed under most circumstances but apparently not in this case as we get another voice override him and say “fly runway heading”. Then back to the first voice after that. Something common in training.
