Gate 7 was well, the 7th entrance point in the old stadium, where hardcore and fans in general gathered to shout their chants for the team. In February 8th, 1981, after a large win against the second biggest rivals AEK Athens (biggest rivals are Panathinaikos Athens), fans started leaving the stands to meet the players after the game and cheer for them. But their screams of joy would soon become agony, pain and mourning. One of the first of the crowd slipped down the staircase, having nothing to grab. Then one tripped after another, chants wouldn’t allow their warnings of the accident to the crowd following, and people would come more and more, as a corner on the upper side of the stairs would block their view too. The stadium janitor that was responsible to open the rail door was not in his post, forgot-ignored to open the doors in the time spot that he was supposed to, and the crowd was unable to escape, leading to suffocation. 21 people died, 20 on this day, the last one some days later, and many more were injured. For the record, entrance works by one person entering at a time and exit by opening the entire rail door so the crowd can fast evacuate the stands. An officer shot the lock, or smacked with his pistol’s handle (can’t remember right now) saving hundreds before suffocation. In May 30th 2003, while demolishing the old stadium, the stand where gate 7 was got demolished alone in the end, at a memorial service for the victims. Outside the stadium, in the one side there is the iron door mechanism, and on the other side there is a monument with the victims’ names. They are the people portrayed in the white banner in the first clip. In the new stadium “Gate 7” stands mainly in the gates 3-7 behind the one post, with some of them being in 1-2 and 8-9 in the corners to the side of the main core.

Olympiacos is the biggest club in Greece and one of the biggest in Europe.....In every game Olympiacos fans make this atmosphere, you can see the fans that are only inside the stadium about thirty two thousand there are so many other and even more in whole country....Many football players that have come and play at this stadium have been exciting by the atmosphere and Olympiacos fans' passion....The banners are refer to something every time for example the banner with people's faces is reference for the victims of tragedy of Gate 7 at 8th February 1981and the banner with Parthenon an athlete and Olympiacos badge is reference to Ancient Olympic Games and their spirit and of course the name of Olympiacos city, Athens.....Olympiacos has other nicknames by his fans such as Legend, Laurel Wreathed Adolescent (because in Ancient Olympic Games only teenagers were participating and the prize was a wreath made by laurel) and Anchovy just like the fish
