"How many people live in Sweden? How big is Sweden?" He wasted 3 precious minutes with some of the greatest music makers of the century asking them basic geography questions.
as a netizen, i don’t care where you’re from or how much you obsess about the US. you were honestly better off not mentioning that you are canadian because it’s so common to hear that the canadian national identity is “trying to not be american” and you’re feeding into this idea very nicely.
Yep. He and Frida speak multiple languages. I have heard Frida speak: Norwegian (her birth nation), Swedish, English, German, Italian, Spanish and French. She had a German husband. She also has lived in Germany, France, Spain and Switzerland. Her main resident is in Switzerland (37+ years) which is dominated by French and German (Swiss-German) and Italian in the southern part. Her second home is in Spain.
@@denisebauman4166 well in my opinion...I think he feels that all blondes are dumb....he even remarked on the fact that...oh so your all not blonde then with a sheepishly grin...which then made Agnetha more uncomfortable...don't you all agree...I think he was rude to Agnetha, very rude to say the least😔
What a bunch of silly questions, there are many people outside the US who speak better english than some americans. Besides he was standing next to an angel known as Agnetha and he almost didn't talk to her!
Benny and Bijorn are gifted songwriters and musicians. The girls, amazing vocals and stunning. ABBA defined seventies pop music like no other band. Agnetha had most attention but didn’t like world tours being quite taciturn and shy. Frida was the extrovert of the two.
@@marguskiis7711 Not entirely. Agnetha did some singles in Germany circa 1968 but it didn't work out. Benny and Bjorn had some success in a couple of countries outside of Scandinavia with some songs they wrote. But all four were well known in Sweden before ABBA got going. They'd all had #1 songs on the Swedish charts, either as soloists or in previous bands. Benny and Bjorn also had a #1 with 'Hej Gamle Man' with A & F on backing vocals. The two were also regularly appearing on TV/Radio shows on top of touring as soloists. Although ABBA evolved organically, they were in effect a 'supergroup'.
Oh so your not all blonde then lol.😂 what a stupid question/statement lol.😂 Anni-Frid should have said...Oh no I sometimes have red hair and blonde to....she should have started in on their fashion line also lol.😂 that would have made my day if I had of read that lol.😂 to the bloke that doesn't know what the girls are wearing...well I will tell you...they are wearing mini-dresses...back in the 70s those mini dresses/skirts were the in thing....we all wore them....over the years the mini skirt fashion found there way back😊
Yes, Agnetha, the reason I bleached my mousey hair at 12 and never looked back. She was/is gorgeous but I remained more blondie atomic than scandi cool. But God wasn't Agnetha the goddess, utterly beautiful.

Dick Clark's ignorance is on full display here. Every stereotype is trotted out. No wonder the world largely thinks America is full of ignoramuses; ABBA deserved a much better interview.
I don't think you could really call this an interview. Dick Clark is just doing quick, casual, off-the-cuff chit-chat between the songs. But yes, it was very cringy and uncomfortable.
American baffled by a world outside of America 😂😂😂 “How big is Sweden? how come your English is so good? Do you know California? How do you know about Rock n Roll in Sweden?” I was waiting for him to ask “Do you have the moon in Sweden?”
the intervieuwer is a litle bit sarcastic ore am i wrong. agnetha was my favorite but annifrid frida deserves also a lot credits. all 4 members love their music.
@@marguskiis7711 As a soloist, she had more hits but they were all musically successful in different ways. Bjorn's previous band probably had the most #1's in Sweden while Benny's group, the Hep Stars were hugely popular with numerous hits too. I think Agnetha had 5 #1 songs while Frida had 3. I wouldn't say 'ruined' her at all. People outside of Scandinavia would never have heard of her, had it not been for the success of ABBA. We'll never know if she would have continued to just be popular in Sweden only if ABBA didn't exist. It would seem she was keen to start a family at an early age so her career would have slowed down. It may have caused friction and ultimately broken her marriage with Bjorn but being in that group probably kept her recording and performing more than had she stayed as a soloist.
Did it seem to anyone else that Dick Clark was using pick up artist techniques on the blond? Like intentionally ignoring her and giving her the worst question.
Now that I understand beautiful Fridas life story. I understand why Benndu didn't want to do the German accent, lol. Man, I love these guys... such beautiful human beings. 🇸🇪
It was actually Frida that got all the TV shows and modeling gigs during her EMI Sweden, 1967-72 days. Her big break was 1967, after 10 years on stage/theater. Her National TV exposer got her all her modeling gigs and other TV gigs.
Happy Birthday, 🎂🍰🍾🥂🎁 Beloved ❤ Agnetha, ❤ 😊 Live for us until the end of the world and one day longer. 🌍 Thank you for the music, 🎶 we love you 💋💖. Hope you are doing great 😊 ❤ 🌹
I was a little uncomfortable with the content of this interview. Interviewer is not familiar with Sweden, the birthplace of ABBA, and although the United States is a mixture of races, what about Sweden ... People who came from the countryside, such as ABBA's lack of accent in English. It seemed to be treated like this. It was an interview that just said that America was the best. I'm Japanese and I think I'm not mistaken in listening to English. I'm sorry if I misinterpreted it.
1:33 Notice how the camera zooms in on Agnetha as soon as she speaks? The cameraman’s antennae instantly peaked with excitement and interest as soon as that happened.
Oh, wait...you mean there was music and singing going on? All I remember is a leg show. I'm not shallow, I just have a strong libido. (OK...maybe I am shallow.)
Gosh Anni-Frid has the most beautiful voice when speaking, she so Eli quint and when she sings she puts my mind into another time and place...her vocals are so soothingly gorgeously beautiful 💖I love her so much.🌷 my favorite...Oh I don't know both are my favorites I love them both💖💖
@@justinb864 I'm Swedish and it has nothing to do with education. We're just trained in grammar in school, not accents. It has more to do with getting a lot of American and British tv. Plus, both Swedish and English are Germanic languages, so we have a head start compared to someone from Greece.
Not all of the American populace was in the dark about Sweden in 1975… granted, many of them were back then unlike now…but this guy hasn’t a CLUE about Sweden. I may be American, but I’ve always been curious about other countries, particularly Sweden. It wasn’t that different from the USA back then; and even now it still isn’t!
This TV host was incredibly ignorant and culturally insensitive. Did he seriously ask where Swedish people learn piano as if it would be any different than in the US?
From minute 1:15 it is seen that Agnetha looks at Banny and both look at each other, and there Benny looks towards where the production is and points with his head laughing towards where Agnetha is, and she looks at that with a slight smile and then returns to look up at the driver. I don't know why that happened haha
Asking how big Sweden is, the population of Sweden, if they know California, and where they learnt rock n roll 🤦♂️ Almost 50 years and The ignorance hasn’t changed
Dang,he should be asking them real questions, like when's your next new album coming out or where you are having your next concert?,just a couple examples, but instead asks about foreign accents and asks how big Sweden is🙄😖
Why is DC wasting time making inane small talk with the "other three?" We wanted to here Agnetha! After all, she was the star and lead in the group. And she could have so easily gone solo early on.
