@@fosterricardo7568 so, the well-documented Monumental transatlantic chattal slave trade from Africa to America is less true than the Bible that Betty Bowers supposedly draws from? I don't think so, sunshine.
I still remember reading a local magazine from 1982 in Missouri and it talked about how in 1957 black students were forced into a all white high school in Little Rock Arkansas.
@@miggans21012 I attended a south Florida high school in late 60's. There was still an, "other side of the tracks" then. About '62-'63 the city was forced to build a new "black" high school. Year after that - a percentage of those students were assigned to the "white" school. Lunch time, most joined our existing, "social oddball table" so I had/have an unusual perspective about that particular integration. The transfers were upset because they were separated from their friends - AND the new "black" school had air conditioning and a pool! Older "white" school had neither, - so - the white students were angry about that too ! ! Surely there was a racial component, but I mostly remember their, lose of friends and the pool and air conditioning anger. Those last two were REALLY important in south Florida, in the 60's ! ! ! Adding: - no "white" students had been reassigned to attend the "black" school.

Christians place their trust in “faith” which is the act of believing despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. To them “Science” and “Facts” are sent by Beelzebub to tempt them away from the teachings of their “Jesus wants you to buy me a jet plane” pastors.
I wonder how many of these "christians" who realize that moderen medical science have it's origins in christian monasteries... And that this is probably one of the reason some authoritarian, fundamentalistic muslim leaders denounce modern, western medicine and vaccines, as the one against measles...? If they want to honor the centuries long work of christian monks and nuns, they really should celebrate medical science. And if they want to stick it to other religions, they should take the jab..(!) I feel cheated by a 2nd rate education. For 10 months, as an 11 year old, I attended PS85, or as it is now known, The Judge Charles Vallone School, in Astoria Queens. Why did I end up with Mrs.Trullah and not Mrs. Bowers? If I was taught TRASH history by Mrs Bowers, I would now be a proud passionate Americanophile. Any US based litigation lawyers reading this; can I sue or does the statute of limitations apply?
One of the interestings thing about the "conservatives" objecting to critical race theory is that it shows they don't know or care about any of the white European history they're so proud of. CRT is a lot like the class structure of feudalism, during which serfs and poor peasants were kept "in their place" by various discriminatory rules and had little chance of moving up in the world except by running away or joining the church. This class system existed in Europe right into the 1800s and right up to the first world war in some places. Some of the founding fathers themselves were gentry, but more American whites are descended from those peasants and serfs than from the nobility and gentry. It makes a body wonder if being oppressed for generations creates a genetic tendency to turn people into authoritarians who need to find someone else to look down on.
Interesting point, Maryanne. I'll add that many of the 'gentry' were younger sons of landed families who were sent off to the colonies because they were too far down the line of succession to occupy the hereditary title or lands. It was also a convenient place to dispose of the family's black sheep.
For what it's worth, there are many examples of marginalized communities lacking sympathy for other marginalized communities. If you think the Italians or Irish in the North American colonies should have better appreciation for what the Africans or Natives went through, because they should be able to at least relate somewhat, you're bound to be disappointed and rightfully so. Alternatively, if the descendants of the Spanish, Portuguese, English, French, Dutch, German, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese etc. today should bare responsibility for their cultures actions concerning colonialism and slavery, you have several billion people to convince not including those who are not born yet. I don't imagine much success with this endeavour. I'll admit, CRT might be enough to fulfill that need to reconcile the unique American experience of colonialism and slavery. But it's a theory that must remain vague to have utility elsewhere.
There's the old saying "hard living makes society. Society makes soft living. Soft living wrecks society." It may be a generalization but there is some truth to it. It has to do with strength and merit. That's where inequality comes into it. An eloquent summation was by Lovecraft: "Whilst long-winded politicians preach universal peace, long haired anarchists are preaching a social upheaval which means nothing more or less than a reversion to savagery or mediaeval barbarism. ...Our present social order, whislt capable of some degree of liberalisation, is the product of the natural development of human relations. It is not ideal, nor could anything on earth be ideal-but it is inevitable. Just as long as some men are more intelligent than others, so long will there be inequality of wealth. The type of persons who indulge in strikes and socialism seem never to realise how much they depend on the brains of their hated “economic masters”. ... Perhaps such a catastrophe will come, just as the Russian catastrophe came; but how little will the blind anarchists gain therefrom! With the intelligent element removed, the rabble will use up the resources of civilisation without being able to produce more; cities and public works will fall into decay, and a new barbarism arise, out of which will spring in time the natural chieftains who will constitute the “masters” of another era of capitalism. Far better that the impressionable and inflammable masses be taught these things before they embark upon a futile revolution which will ruin all civilisation, themselves included, without helping anyone."
Every thing right wingers believe in is just an opiate to keep them from having to deal with reality. Truly imbecilic and I use that as a medical term.

The Puritans, which came 60 years later, intended on bringing the Church of England with them, as they had just been thrown-out of power in England. It's pretty clear, historically.
@@jacoblaughbon3323 I'm scratching my head over this one, as in 1680-90, the CoE was still the established Church in England and very much in power. Their only threat was when James II, a Catholic, came to the throne. And when James' style of ruling proved unpopular, the response wasn't "run away", it was "he can be replaced".
