Wiley don't just love Grime, he is Grime. if their was a mount Rushmore for the genre, he's in it no question.

I’m in my 30s and been listening to Wiley since I was 11. Artists have progressed leaps n bounds but Wiley took the risks others weren’t prepared too. His failures meant others would then be successful. In my head he has earnt the right to chat the most shit.

Wiley basically created grime and kept doing it even when it wasn't popular. In terms of personality I compare him to Kanye. They've got talent but they're also not easy to get on with. I don't think Wiley had legitimate reasons to go after Stormzy but I am happy he did because I think the Wiley sends are some of Stormzy's best work. I listen to all these tracks regularly. Wiley is also a producer he made some of the best Grime beats back in the day Wiley is the real OG of Grime and was one of the best mc's back in the day but he got left behind when others evolved like Dizzee Rascal and kind of left Wiley behind and he never really blew up as much as people like Dizzee, Kano, Stormzy and a few others.

10:56 is an interesting point, but you gotta remember people like Skepta and Wiley created the genre that Wiley calls himself the king of. Like yeah Stormzy brought attributes that made him marketable to all audiences but through inspiration and love of a genre that was invented by a handful of people. Skepta being the first to truly blow globally from grime from his own work and creativity opened doors that allowed Stormzys to come through without experiencing the same resistance.

The first eediyat Skengman diss by Wiley was just him drawing Stormzy out. He wasn’t fully firing as no-one really knew if Stormzy would reply… he doesn’t usually clash so when he did reply, it was sort of out of character 😅 this was then Wiley’s reply and, whilst I think Stormzy did win this overall clash, this one - Eediyat Skengman 2 - is my favourite overall. It was just too funny and disrespectful (that line about ripping the wig off always kills me 😂). Stormzy went back to being clash-shy when Chip started on him though… Chip is a demon when it comes to beef and there’s no way Stormzy would win in a straight forward clash between the two, so it was probably a wise move. All the indirects seem pretty cowardly though tbh. Would be great to see you react to all Chip’s Stormzy disses.

I don’t really like Wiley, as a rapper or as a person (from the limited amount that I’ve seen anyway) but I still respect his skill and the guy that said “Wiley is grime”, he isn’t wrong, Wiley definitely is grime.
