Hi everyone! I'm an American from the Northeast (New England). I want to create a watering hole for people who want to discuss, learn and teach about history through RU-vid videos which you guys recommend to me through the comment section or over on Discord. Let's be respectful but, just as importantly, not be afraid to question any and everything about historical records in order to give us the most accurate representation of the history of our species and of our planet!

It's them using today's "street talk" in place of the stereotypical posh 1940 r.a.f. pilot talk not that all r.a.f. pilots were posh in 1940

Who on earth edited these clips (partial clips)?! It's so annoying the way it keeps jumping back and forth between the sketches. These are some of my favourite Armstrong and Miller characters though, you should watch the full clips 👍

There are, or were some actual compilations made of the different full sketches of this from A&M, C . . . quite a few have reacted to the 1st one of them, I think they were having issues with showing the 2nd one though, but some them went on to the 3rd one, etc . . . But that's what you'll need to look for if you want to see the full sketches . . . or you could do them singly and edit them yourself, with luck maybe?

"half term" is a one week break that UK schools have in the middle of each of the three terms. Example - in my town the Spring term this year is Jan 5th to Mar 31st (half term is Feb13th-Feb19th). Easter break is the first two weeks of April then the Summer term starts. Another difference between the US and the UK is the length of the Summer break. Here in the UK nowadays, it is 6 weeks, compared to 10 or 11 weeks in the US. Back in the day in the UK, I too enjoyed those seemingly endless Summers off school. Then some *&%$£!?! accountants must've realised that if they moved a few weeks of break from Summer to Winter etc they could save a sh1tload on heating & lighting money when kids were not in school.

@@AndrewHalliwell Aaaah, I can remember being 55, just about anyway 😃 As I recall, my school had at least 8 weeks. After finishing major exams (O levels, A levels), we got way longer as there was no point us being in school. We were told to get lost apart from the day we came back in to get our exam results. Between finishing my final A level exam in early June and starting University in early October, I was able to work for 17 weeks at an heavy engineering firm. Best summer job I ever had, learnt to use power tools, arc weld, oxy-acetelyne cutting, drive a forklift, even a D7 bulldozer. They paid temp students the same rate as new starters (80p an hour I think?) so I made more money than I'd ever seen before, paid for my first car. Happy days...
