4:26 sadly true, not to the extend Clarkson is implying but the US did kill Brits in friendly fire, one was a Warthog where the pilots actually described a British convoy on the ground and the markings agreed upon to use so friendly fire wouldn't happen, and then opened fire. To be fair the British did do friendly fire but was on themselves, and the only Challenger tank taken out of action was by another Challenger with a totally stupid commander in charge.
@volundrfrey896
@volundrfrey896 9 месяцев назад
The video from the warthog is publicly available, you can hear the pilot being physically sick by having engaged blue on blue. Not saying that he didn't make mistakes, but what you described as "saw markings"was that he saw something orange on the convoy. Which was not exclusive to the brits and not a universal "this is friendly marker" and he got no response on the radio.
@will4may175
@will4may175 9 месяцев назад
@@volundrfrey896 Yup the definite mistake was not waiting for a response, can understand the adrenaline from flying over hostile areas and the need to stop the enemy once spotted, but with there being doubt he really needed that answer first. Uk Topgear V American Topgear was a brilliant special. 🤣😂🤣😂 You need to watch the Topgear Races. Egg Plant / Zucchini is the name of that item. Deli Belly / Squits / Runs / Trotskies, that would be littering and illegal. Vauxhall Vectra. The clip (21:12 time stamp) with Hammond and the person of restricted height, for everyone’s information Hammond (Hamster) is on the left of the screen 🤣😂🤣👍🏻👍🏻. Something Europe do better than Americans is hot hatches. Connor you are awesome, you do make me laugh when you don’t get something. You get the “lights are on but no one is in” look on your face. You know this police stop is a setup, it’s not real. Connor we have talked about this, don’t take everything literally. 😂🤣😂🤣😂 You flipped the bird at a policeman? London to Rome is about 1,200 miles and would take you about 19 hours in a car, queues to get through customs from England to France permitting - which has been taking HOURS as the French want us to suffer as we left the EU and therefore refused to £billions to subsidise the costly administrative nightmare that is the former Common Market. They hate us but that’s been going on for centuries.

17:08, those would be eggplants (Solanum melongena) good sir. By the way, huge fan of your channel. Also, you asked who gypsies are. Gypsies or Romani/Roma (most gypsies prefer to be called Romani and will become highly offended if you call them gypsies because they see it as a derogatory term and a racial slur) are a nomadic people, mostly made up of the Indo-Aryan ethnicity (mainly with ties to south Asia), who travel from place to place. The word Roma literally means "people". They can be found all across the world but are commonly found in Europe (such as Romania) and the Americas. Also, Romani is their language, which has Greek and Balkan influences. Throughout history, dating back to the dark ages, the Romani were constantly enslaved by others and were also used as scapegoats for the atrocities committed by others, such as being blamed for causing epidemics and plagues throughout history. Adding to this, their people suffered greatly form the Holocaust, forced assimilations, and ethnic cleansings (geocide). Because of all the lies and myths spread about them by others, Romani suffer widespread discrimination and are viewed as suspicious, antisocial, and inappropriate. They are also viewed as the cause of poverty and high crime by many Europeans. These numerous hardships resulted in the Romani being nomadic and untrusting of outsiders as well as refusing to assimilate with others. As a result, they developed a close community which prioritizes survival above all else. Today, numerous world organizations are currently working to eradicate the discrimination and persecution of the Romani. A common western stereotype is that all Romani are superstitious people who use crystal balls and read people's palms. This however is not true. Most Romani are of numerous religions such as the Catholic and Muslim faiths, and they are also known for adopting the spiritual and religious beliefs of the area/country they settle in. While there are bad apples in their communities who steal and commit other crimes (which adds the the prejudices that people have of them), they are widely known as a hospitable people who value cleanliness, purity, respect, generosity, honor and justice. There are many other things you can learn about them if you do some research. To those who know more about the Romani then myself, I apologize if there are any errors I have written and please feel free to comment other fun facts about the Romani people 😊

As someone with Roma grandparents, you are correct about pretty much all of this, but I want to add that the word Gypsy is also used about Irish travelers, which are an unrelated itinerant group of people that are nonetheless distinct from the surrounding Irish people. The word is also used, especially in America, for nomadic people in general. So, I don't know how I feel about the word itself. I personally have no problem with being called it and using it about myself because that's the word people know and they won't have any more stereotypes about the people of my grandparents than they already have because of a name change, but other people might feel differently, especially if they are from Eastern Europe where there is a lot more "tension" in this debate. Btw, thanks for mentioning the Holocaust. My particular heritage, Sinti/Manouche (German/French Roma that speak an unintelligible dialect to other Roma, like the Kalderashi), was almost completely wiped out in the Porrajmos (the big bite. Always thought it sounded really, really scary.), as my grandpa used to call it, and he would always get resentful whenever the Holocaust was brought up as if it was synonymous with the Shoa (the killing of the Jews), because "People don't care about us dirty Gypsies because we haven't got enough money to be people and we haven't got enough writers to be important people. That's how clever the Jews are: They don't only have money; they have other people's money (bankers), and they not only have writers, they have writers that people read every day (journalists)." Today, I bet he would be seen as an anti-semite for that comment, but in reality, I think he was just bitter about growing up in a culture that was no longer there, while he watched as the state of Israel fought successful war upon successful war against its neighbors between the 40's and 60's while the whole Western world threw money at it like their favourite terrier in a dog fight. He was a very skilled artisan ironworker and made some very pretty art that still hangs on my parent's wall, but he worked all his life making metal beams and railings in a factory only to die two weeks after retiring. A fate that is surprisingly common among his generation; they seem to live their whole lives seeking the freedom that was lost when their parents' generation settled down to avoid persecution only to die from the freedom-associated vices they used to get by until then, often alcohol and smoking. Sorry about this being incredibly long and unraveling. I just never really talked about it and was incredibly upset and frustrated at his funeral and nobody else gave him a proper eulogy for pretty much the same grief-related reasons.
