This is an old cast, straight out comedy stint so not to be taken seriously Morgan, but it is quite on target, just comedy. Commercial eggs are cleaned before crated, so not that skunky goo, free range may be different if bought direct from the farm gate. You looked far too serious Morgan, the presenter is a comedian. The good old pumpkin is very versatile, Kiwis mainly stick with roast or steamed, we see it as a veg, not a sweet. Some celebrate Halloween, where as some celebrate Guy Forks or both. Halloween is American, Guy Forks is England - we trend along that line, but I freely admit Halloween offers up far more fun.

Corn dogs and hot dogs are different in the fact that the stick version of a Hot dog is coated in batter...the same batter we use on fish not cornflour😊

In New Zealand the circumcision rate is about 5% and in the US it is more like 80%. During the early 20th century it was popularised in New Zealand by "puritans" who promoted it which saw the practice peak post ww2 at nearly 95%. This means that at one time almost all fathers in NZ were circumcised. By the 1950's and 60's the practice virtually as a whole was abandoned and is now viewed as barbaric and unethical. Oddly the sky did not fall in as a consequence. Why exactly is it still around the 80% mark in the US? It seems health claims are basically BS.

I make a pumpkin based shepherds pie. It’s a bit starchy but not bad in winter. As for the driving on the left side of the road. It goes back to the days of medieval era where knights wanted to keep their sword 🗡 hand free in case of attack.

Tipping is a micro example of how the US takes the user pay concept too far, resulting in confusion and inefficiencies that reduce cost effectiveness. A macro example is the US health system that, thanks to a user pay system reliant on health insurance, has become a bureaucratic nightmare. Take Finland for example. You pay more tax in Finland but your health care is free. In America, however, while you might pay less tax, but you pay far more in insurances and get a s****** service. Seems stupid to me.
@paulprice1705
@paulprice1705 Год назад
Yeah Corn Dog in America is our Hotdog... we have to ask for an American Hotdog to get a frankfurter inside a bread roll with onion cheese mustard and sauce. NZ does not have states as political entities, we do have Provinces, but pretty much there is one Federal Government, and cities are their own municipal body (which can cover a lot of the rural countryside as well within those borders and you pay rates to the city councils based on your property value usually. Those councils cover things like rubbish removal and city parks and such. But the big bulk of taxes go to the Federal Government, via income taxes and sales taxes and company taxes.

Visit any fish and chip takeaway in NZ and order a hot dog from the menu and you'll get a battered saveloy smothered in tomato sauce . Delicious

@daniell8331
@daniell8331 Год назад
We tip like nothing compared to the US and only really in restaurants and cafes. It shouldn't be expected at all. Its only really used for staff parties. I hate when its put as an option on eftpos machines here, its really off putting, is it just to rip off tourists. If I was intending to tip in NZ and saw that I wouldn't tip and give it to a homeless person out of spite. In the US it's so useful to have the digital option here its wrong we pay a huge amount for food here compared to the rest of the world including the US.

You are bang on about the eggs. Yep - in the US the protective membrane is washed off. In NZ, Aussie or the EU, we don't, which is why we don't need to refrigerate our eggs. But I also think that the pumpkins that you get in the US for pumpkin pie might be different to the ones grown here. Do a video on it!
@cadifan
@cadifan Год назад
Jordan's pretty funny. In New Zealand corn is on the cob or in a can or in a frozen mixed veg packaging, and that's it. It's not an ingredient in anything else so there's no such thing as corn in your batter which is why there's no such thing as a "corn dog" here. On a stick it's just a "hot dog" and uses the same batter as is used on fish in your fish and chips. In a bun it's an "American hot dog" Pumpkin is gross and why anyone would put it in a pie and say it's good is beyond me.

Hi Morgan just one question how do they get their pumpkins so big over there in the states and do they taste anything like the ones here?
@commonsense6702
@commonsense6702 Год назад
depends on the variety, the sweeter the pumpkin the sweeter the pie. Yes we do have the same pumpkins, it's all in the processing. Plus if memory serves me right their pastry is sweet. Anyone can grow a larger than life pumpkin, simply nip out the lateral growth and concentrate on 1 or 2 pumpkins only on the vine - feed and water.

ha ha I was in the NZ Army for just over 11 years and yes its tiny compared to the US but we still have one, two Regular Force Battalions (Half Strength) a full Battalion is 800-1000 strong one at Burnham in the south Island )Mainland) and 1 in Linton near Palmerston North, and regional Territorial (now rebranded to Reserve) Battalions that are even worse undermanned it used to be 6 of them but that has been amalgamated into 3 I think because of low manning and budget cuts but tell me if im wrong because i got out in 2008 so it may of changed

Many many hours of my younger years was cleaning eggs while growing up in NZ. It makes no difference to the life of the egg. Normally when eggs are stored prior to collection off the farms, they are refrigerated as they will last longer. However who wants older eggs away. Eat them while fresh.
@michaelheliotis5279
@michaelheliotis5279 Год назад
Hand cleaning eggs as it sounds like you did is not the same as the industrial egg washing that they do in the US, which is much harsher and uses detergents, scrubbing off the natural protective film that helps protect the egg. Farms should not be refrigerating eggs routinely, and I rather doubt they do, as it permanently changes the consistency of the egg white which compromises its performance in baking.

The US egg refrigeration thing is mostly because of the risk of a strain of salmonella that can be inside the egg, which can grown if at room temperature to become dangerous if eaten raw or semi-raw. So refrigeration prevents growth. In NZ that strain of salmonella wasn't present until recently, so in not too long we might start to see our eggs in store fridges.
