Electric powered vehicles are continuing to become more popular in The United States but we're no where are far along as Norway. Norway is the leader in EV's on the road, in fact, almost five out of six new cars sold in Norway last year were powered by battery only; accounting for approximately 82% of vehicles sold in 2023. Through a combination of incentives, benefits and a desire to be fully electric in the near future, Norway is a model country for what can be achieved. There have been issues with the transition that complicates the benefits of an EV. Those kinks however, can be worked out as we progress further. Not just the cars are electric either. Norway has been electrifying its ferries, buses, semi trucks and even construction equipment. Fuel pumps and parking meters are being replaced with chargers too. So what can the U.S. learn from this? That's what we're trying to find out.
Thanks for watching & have a great day!

The vehicle that you questioned is a Buddy electric mini car made in Norway. Buddy cars are not made any more, but the company has changed to electric bicycles. The other electric car brand was Think that is now defunct. Paxter is the only electric now made in Norway. It is a small electric car designed for distribution of small packages. It is used by the Post Offlce in Norway and New Zealand. You can find articles about these brands in Wikipedia..

2:22: That car is a Buddy. A city electric mini car. They have room for two passengers only and very small baggage, but it's nice for city use because it's so easy to park since it's as long as a normal car is wide.

No doubt subsidizing will change over time. Same here in Denmark. When the car pool has changed to primarily non-ICE they will start to reinstate taxes on vehicles.

The electric car revolution in Norway started in 1992 with Kewet (later Buddy). With the help of Frederic Hauge and Morten Harket.

Worked in Auto body repair industry for 35 years. Driven most every vehicle type made. Learned to drive in 1963 bug. Bought used Mitsubishi imiev ev in 2016 cheap. Could see how EVs were going to be the best vehicle for us. Sold it to a grandson. Bought used 2018 leaf with 30,000 miles then used 2018 model three with 6,000 miles in 2019. Today the Tesla is 70,000 miles leaf 50,000. Driven 3,000 mile round trip. Dozens of 300+ mile along with other out of state trips. Live in cold climate, mostly charge in our garage. Saved over $7,000 on gas. Thousands on maintenance. When Tesla needed warranty fix they came to our house repaired here. Ditto upper control arms replaced in our garage by Tesla. My wife loves the EVs and has sold several other friends on EVs. Both batteries are at 98% battery capacity. Quiet fast intuitive to drive. Fear not!

The gas price in Norway is over 2 Dollars pr Liter, full "tank" of electricity is ca 5 - 20 Dollars based on type of car. Winter reduction could be 25-30%, and remember the ICE powered cars also have a huge reduction of range in the winter!

Interesting video. I'll watch the next two. Tesla would never be of my choise. A matter of principle regarding Elon Musk who's become a loose and dangerous cannon in his rhetoric and behavioural patterns.

The benefits are already disappearing. We will soon be back to the status quo.

I find it annoying hearing the term "0 emission car" over an over again. There is no such thing. Sure you put the majority of the emission/pollution where the materials for it is mined and where the car is manufactured instead if in the cities. Which might is nice for us. But calling it 0 emission is greenwashing, since the (often) poor countries where the mining is taking place gets polluted a lot.

I find it annoying when people don't understand that certain things are understood, such as nothing is ever free because someone has to pay. It's implied that it's free for you. In the same way, it's implied that a zero emission car has zero emission while in use.

@@jeschinstad It sounds like you believe that it's understood by most people that sees a video where they are talking about "0 emission" EV but that it would actually take driving it for up to 10 years (and longer) before it becomes more environmentally friendly than a gas car? I don't believe that's the case. One of is is sadly mistaken, and going by my experience with other people I don't think it's me.

@@nilnaelil: When you skew the data, you can get the result you want. If you compare the production of a new EV to the use of an existing ICE, then sure, that's a thing. Using existing cars is better than creating new ones. But are you truly arguing that ICE cars last forever? No. So that comparison is silly. Nobody's saying that manufacturing of ICE or EV cars are zero emission. It only comes up in relation to EV as a method of deception.
