Thank you for being you, not trying to hide your emotions, you’re a real one for sure. This track is meant to bring that out in us and make us stop and think, thanks for doing that bro. Only just found your channel but I always gravitate to ones who aren’t afraid to show their emotions and be whatever is natural to them. This was a great reaction and you don’t have to apologise for nothing. Love from the uk.
@@SimplySavageReactions you know I was going to add a comment but its all been said here. your reaction got me man and i was feeling the same as you by the end of it.
So for context, Ahmed was actually a real child. He was a Syrian refugee about 6 years old who drowned after falling off a hand made raft trying to flee the war in Syria and sail to Greece for safety. His poor little body washed up on a popular tourist beach on the same day an infamous UK media personality (who now works for Fox News in the US) called Katie Hopkin referred to refugees as “rats on a sinking ship” and that quote inspired this song.
As soon as I saw the tear I subscribed, you're a good man. This I the first video I've seen of yours and I've seen many react to this. Others try to compartmentalise it, but you let it hit you like a proverbial wave and your emotion and silence held more meaning than all of those other reactors. Bless you brother, respect.
Not the easiest way to be introduced to Lowkey. He is a top tier lyricist from the same vain as Akala. Hope you check out more especially his Fire in the booth. Peace Bro
@@SimplySavageReactions don't apologise Bro. Shows the real emotion of the song and that it connected to you. It also shows how many people see American imperialism in the world. Thank you
Sorry you got so upset my guy... Lowkey is all about humanity. These stories need to be told. It's a totally different vibe to what you usually react to ... But people need to see the ugly truths to bring about change . Sending hugs 💖
Yes I definitely plan on checking out more Lowkey. I would have time for reactions today but my little girl turned 7 today so it's her day! Well I actually asked her if she'd like to do a reaction with me this evening. I just hope I can find a hip hop or comedy stand up bit thar would be suitable for her to listen to. Any suggestions? I'm sure hip hop is out of the question but I'm sure there is some kind of G rated comedy bit from the UK that she could sit in on.
Best reaction yet. I'm the founder of Europe Refugee Network. I was there. On Lesvos an island in the eastern Aegean Sea in Greece where Ahmed lost his life. I drove down to Greece from the far SW tip of the United Kingdom in the ropiest old Cornish van you can imagine to help with the refugee boat rescues. I was there for a long time. I saw this and many situations like it with me own eyes. I was one of the independent volunteers on the South Coast Patrol Team. Here are two posts I wrote on Europe Refugee Network at the time - both posts from March 2016. They arrived freezing cold two hours ago on a boat from Turkey... We saw the boat by means of a flashlight on board when it was still some ways offshore. Signalling the boat regularly with my 3,000,000 candle power high beam torch they would answer instantly despite being at least 2-3 miles out to sea. Sea conditions rough. Wind still howling. Bitterly cold both on land but especially on the water in the dead of night. Now sat in my little Europe Refugee Network van writing about the experience. This one I admit got me quite choked up emotionally. When their flashlight flickered on and off I answered along with about 10 other people in their vehicles who spanning a mile or three along the coast were trying to determine where the large inflatable might come ashore. Finally it arrived and instantly the shore based team could see they were in pretty bad shape. Many Afghan men, women, children and babies all crying their eyes out when finally their feet touched land again. How they made it across in these weather conditions heaven only knows. It must have been truly awful out there for them with nowhere to sit but on the hard floor of the boat with waves crashing overboard. Of course they all arrived shaking from hypothermia and all of them were drenched right through. Immediately myself and the team swung into action getting warm blankets around them and a fire started on the 'beach'. Emergency foil blankets around everyone each volunteer giving their attention to 2-3 refugees. Seeing all of the children crying so much really got to me this time but this was no time for feeling sorry for myself with urgent work needing to be carried out instantly. I didn't know whether the young individual I was looking after was a girl or a boy. What I could see was this little human being in a very distraught state shivering from head to toe. Wrapping this individual up in a warm blanket I rubbed their back vigorously to get some circulation going and to warm up their body. She turned out to be a girl aged I guess at around 13. 10 minutes later she flung herself at me clasping my hand overcome by the whole experience and couldn't stop thanking me. That really got to me. I take it it was her brother beside her some years her junior. He was a little star too and responded well to being looked after. Every volunteer, about 30 all told were having similar experiences rubbing the legs of those who had severe cramp and were in a lot of pain to putting dry clothes on others, warm foil socks, wooly hats and anything else which was to hand to get everyone warmed up. They were all so thankful too with several refugees hugging me before they got on the UNHCR bus to take them to Moria. I don't know words fail me on this one they truly do. About right now as I'm writing this they will have only just arrived in the Moria registration camp run by the authorities bless them. Well at least they got a brilliant team of people to look after them when first they set foot in Europe. My thanks also go to the other teams involved - ERCI, PRAKSIS, Team Humanity and all of the other guys and lasses who put in 100%. Now many of us are back up on the cliff once again looking out to sea to spot a tiny flashlight bobbing up and down the signal to us that yet another boat is on it's way. No time for tears or too much emotion, we need to be ready at all times day and night to ensure as many lives are saved as possible - it's just the way it is. P.S. It's freezing in the back of this van right now, like I said what it must have been like for a child out there on the rough cold sea at night doesn't bear thinking about. Poor buggers it's freezing in here tonight out there it must have been hell for them. ***** In the middle of a bad thunderstorm last night one boat arrived. Conditions not good. At approximately 0300hrs this morning on the beaches just south of the airport on the island of Lesvos Greece a lone refugee boat was attempting to make the crossing to Europe. On board the boat were many women, young children and babies. Tossed about by the rough seas their ordeal must have been absolutely terrifying. Forced into the boat on the Turkish side by the people smugglers at gunpoint they would have been given no choice but to leave. The weather conditions were horrendous. Rough seas with cresting waves, a strong wind and overhead a monster thunderstorm with forked lightning criss-crossing the sky and absolutely torrential rain. You can only begin to imagine the terror of the occupants of this particular boat the only one of the night to arrive (thank God safely ashore with no-one lost as far as we know overboard. When the boat arrived on the shore with the waves crashing all around first the volunteers attempted to get everyone off safely. With the rain coming down in torrents those who could walk were escorted to the volunteers cars and vans to wait for the UNHCR bus to come pick them up to take them to Moria. One man was lying on the beach and to all intents and purposes appeared to have died right there with no colour in his face at all. Another lady her legs just gave out from under her altogether. Another couple of the refugees had broken legs. The children and babies were all soaked through to the skin and arrived absolutely drenched. The children understandably were all in a state of extreme shock with many of them suffering the effects of hypothermia. These are the kind of conditions we all work in day and night 24/7 seven days and nights a week. It's non-stop. Tonight another thunderstorm is brewing along with more torrential rain. I'll be out there with the other very long term volunteers from midnight until about 8-9am after already putting in one 8 hour shift at another refugee camp.
To the guy who posted up the RU-vid video above, if you want to have a chat anytime about all of this, feel welcome to pick my brain and I'll do my best to help with any questions you may have. Big hugs to you. I saw those tears running down your face. Stay strong! No shame in letting some tears out - it's good for you.
It’s a heavy one mate but it needed to be said, Lowkey is quality, personal favourite is his fitb 2 but everything he does makes you think and that’s a rare thing
I feel you bro this song tears me up everytime it's a hard but important watch/listen. lowkey is a legend you should do his FITB pt 1 & 2, ObamaNation, terrorist and soundtrack to the struggle parts 1 and 2 to name a few but all his tracks are amazing.
Wow that's quite the place to start with Lowkey but it sums him up in 1 track, an unbelievable lyricist, a social activist, a genius. Looking forward to following your journey. Have to recommend fitb 1 and 2 and his daily duppy. Enjoy 🇮🇪
Here's the essential Lowkey starter kit: Obama Nation Terrorist? Alphabet Assassin (Tribute to Alphabetical Slaughter by Papoose) Ghosts of Grenfell (Have a quick read about the Grenfell Tower fire first) There's a reason I hold him in high regard.
Awww James, i have the exact same reaction to this track every time. RIP to all those lost at sea, on the beaches, in the lorries and shipping containers. It blows my mind that this is still going on! I also have this reaction to Akala FITB 4 - the 2 part. It’s totally unrelated to this, but still very emotional. Lowkey is a fantastic lyricist, quite similar to Akala in lots of ways. Both are amazing, as are Wretch 32, Avelino, Kano and you already know about Mic, Ghetts, Dave, Giggs, Fredo etc. We’re lucky to have loads of great artists in the uk!
Have you watched Lowkey Ghosts of Grenfell yet? If not, I encourage you to check it out as it's equally gut wrenching and poignant. Full video title to put in the RU-vid search box. LOWKEY ft. MAI KHALIL - GHOSTS OF GRENFELL (OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO)
Lowkey is lyrical genius...I see a lot of his conscious tracks already recommended...if your after some more easy going tracks where you can appreciate his flow and cadence try Return of Lowkey...GOAT flow...Who said I can't do grime or Top 1 selected...Another OG who is overlooked and worth checking out is Durrty Goodz
Lowkey is on a different level my brother. Respect how that hit you. When i first heard Ahmed i got messed up for days. IMHO Lowkey & Akala put all the other rappers to shame. New Sub as well.
Thanks so much for subbing. I've had to take a break from RU-vid. Although I never intended on it being this long, I'm hoping it's almost over and I can get back into the swing of things. What would help is if everyone shared the channel, Im trying to get to 9k! Of course, you don't have to do it, but it would be amazing if you guys could do that for me.
Thank you so much. I really wish that I could get a wider audience that would wat h the hip hop reactions because i would love to incorporate them back into the mix.
Just started this video and buzzing for the reaction, been watching your videos all night and you're fackin skitz 🤘🤣 if I can suggest, the return of Lowkey is an absolute Banger! Even if you don't post it have a listen in a spare moment 🤘
