This kind of bottle is called "Maurerbombe" or "Maurerkanne" (mason bomb, mason jug), because this handy and stable bottle shape used to be very popular in the construction industry. Also fits in the pocket of work trousers if the boss comes over. Nowadays there isn't as much drinking on the construction sites anymore. Things used to be different.
Yeah, the Astra bottle (and brand) harkens back to the day of the proletariate worker. It still retains a very distinct 'social' aspect of targeting the lower class people as their consumers.
4:00 A "Spezi" is a non-alcoholic but caffeinated soft drink mixed from cola and orange soda. And yes, the Paulaner Spezi is indeed better than Mezzo-Mix.
I am from the Netherlands. We sell the most beer. (Heineken, Bavaria, Amstel) But I always drink German beer. It is better. Belgium have the best special beer, I think.
*Germany* continues to be *the top beer producer.* This means that *about one in every four beers* containing alcohol *produced in the EU originated in Germany.* _3 Aug 2023_
im from germany - and i thought we (germany) were on place 1 till i learned: its about export - number one would be Czech or belgium?! germany would be 2. the netherlands never had a so big beer culture like us. netherlands have good beers to, no doubt, but you talking shit (number 1 ^^ yeah...no).
Im from Belgium and not to be biased our beer culture is better. We have so much more diversity and special beers. The best Trappist beers in the world and not to forget more than 1600 different beers. If one country will get you hooked on beer it’s Belgium. We have many different dishes made with beer too 😅 the Netherlands takes the lead in beer export in Europe with Belgium following. Germany is third. Here in Belgium they take beer really really seriously and I think Belgium is an underrated beauty in Europe. If you are in Germany for a month You should come do a citytrip for a few days! I think you can come with the train or you can rent a car and drive to Belgium. You will enjoy the country a lot, we have a lot of castles, cathedrals and medieval cities like Bruges. Love your videos btw! 🎉
I like James! And I like people who react to James! :) *win_win Thanks for the video and ... yeah, can't go wrong with most of the german beers! *cheers
@@giobozzde The problem for most non-drinkers is that beer is an aquired taste. I've very, very rarely heard of anyone ever appreciating their first beer. So coming to Germany to taste-test beers is a bit of a waste. Mind you, there's tons of other stuff you could taste-test that doesn't require alcohol. You also won't receive any weird looks if you say you don't drink alcohol; it's totally fine with everyone (sane).
Exactly! My wife comes from Canada, when I was there I was asking myself "Wo verdammt nochmal gibt's hier Quark?!". It really just exists here? Damn it, we will move over to Québec in a few years. I will really miss that for breakfast ... 😐
Yes, bread is really much better in Europe than in the USA. When I'm in the USA for work I don't eat bread. You guys really need to do something about that. It's really disgusting.
@@Kloetenhenne US bread is not allowed in Europe, because it is not healthy. But you have a point. I think it taste more then cake then bread. A little bit between.
@@Kloetenhenne IIRC Subway had to classify their "bread" as cake in Ireland for tax reasons due to too much sugar. Haven't heard anything from the rest of the EU.
@@Kloetenhenne More then that. You can watch on internet to USA food that is forbidon in the rest of te world. Pork, beef, fish, chicken. You put a lot of junk in there. Even plastic. For money. In the USA the people die sooner than before, Not in the rest of the world.
Ich würde es ja gerne abstreiten und dir sagen, dass es auch im Saarland gutes Bier gibt. Aber dummerweise war Homburg/Saar ein Teil von Bayern, als die Karlsberg-Brauerei gegründet wurde. Also ja, der Punkt geht wohl an dich. Ich gebe mich geschlagen... 🙈
if u dont like the bitterness of beer i reccoment trying an Hefeweizen its not a brand its a yeast wheat beer its more in the milder sweeter tasting side and there are planty of brands to test
There was a time when beers were sold individually or in a crate, but not prepackaged in six-packs. Germans got so used to taking one or two beers home for a nice chill out that once pre-packaged wrapped beers came along most weren't too happy about not being able to just take one or two... So people got to breaking out a bottle or can, and the shops had one of two choices: be unhappy with the customers for opening the package, or to make smaller sales available. Guess what happened? 😁🍺 Quarkbällchen are to die for. Imagine a VERY airy, fluffy doughnut dough fried to perfection into a bite (or two) sized ball, but once you bite into it has this very, very slight tanginess hidden behind the loads of sugar both in and on the dough. It comes from the Quark, which technically is a cream cheese, but from texture, consistency, and taste is more along the lines of a firm yoghurt. It lends itsself incredibly well to making cheese cake or in this case Quarkbällchen.
2:55 Paulaner SPEZI is no Beer Spezi is the brand name of a caffeinated soft drink, a mixed drink made from cola and orange soda. “Spezi” is also often used as a generic term. The brand was registered in 1956 by the Riegele brewery in Augsburg and initially referred to a beer. Wikipedia
Helles is not light beer. It's lager. Full alcohol. And Augustiner is pretty damn good, plus you will drink for a good cause, as this is still donating about half the revenue to charity.
When ever an american is doing a german beer test the camera should be turned to show the face of the german guys! It‘s like: Do you like ginger girls? One guy thumbs up, one guy thumbs down and third guy already starts to salivate.😊
if u really want to try german beer, u shouldnt get it in a supermarket, u should get it from the local brewery, wich in most cases is a restaurant too
There you have your war😈 He said that Bavarian beer er best, I say: Bavarian beer tastes like the P-word, have a nice beer from Schleswig-Holstein, near the Danish border🤩

Sorry but that was embarrassing 🙄. Spezi amongst other contenders here is not something to write home about. Germans who make such poor suggestions need to come up with something better or do something else.
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MavjootIFCs.html The first called Astra was a northern style Beer from the Region of Hamburg, the following ones were "Kölsch" what some People might say isn´t Beer so they named it Kölsch. U can Drink alot of these without noticing but u need to run often ;) . the normal Beer which is normally called "Helles" is a common one overall in Germany. There are Hundreds of Breweries and Beers that tastes different and it kinda depends on a Persons taste if u like it or not, but u should try to taste some. The blonde ones are mostly the normal type while the Dark Beer is more Stronger or bitter in taste because of the higher amount of Malt. I do like his reactions, he had some great facial expressions, where u can see how his Brain tries to figure out what he is Experiencing right now. maybe u take a trip with him together next time. Have fun in Germany
5:04 Beer and Lemonade only 2,5 % not like a real BEER with 4,7 - 5 % ! 5:39 The bottle, invented in the USA, looks like a squashed Euro bottle. The goal of its designers: the invention of the indestructible beer bottle. Because it is more suitable as a projectile than any other, it is called a “bomb” or “grenade”.09/28/2016 de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steinieform
