My Dad passed away 10 years ago. My Mom passed just shy of 4 weeks ago this coming Sunday. My Mom was an Elvis freak. Black velvet paintings and all. Dad took her to Graceland as their second honeymoon. Every time this song shows up on my random playlist i have to decide whether i can get a good cry in.... because if i listen I'm gonna bawl like a baby.

This must be around the 598th time I've watched this performance, and the 598th time I've cried. I lost my father 7 years ago when I was 55 years old, and nothing hurts a man like losing a great, loving father. Do not apologize for your emotions. I am sitting here crying as well. I thank our God for good, loving fathers, and I pray I have been even half the father mine was.

Crying is healing. I started seeing a therapist when I lost both of my parents. As I would cry through entire sessions, she. would gently tell me that you have to be in the pain to heel. You show men that it is an important part of a healing journey.

I lost my dad almost 5 years ago. He loved Elvis too, and i cry every single time i hear this one. We're all together in our humanity, and there is no shame in crying from the sorrow of loss.

I cry every time I listen to Dan honoring the love he had for his Dad by singing this trilogy. It is sooo emotional. I noticed how often while singing he looks up to the heavens. I lost my Daddy some years ago and cry along with Dan over losing our heros. I don’t know how he finishes the song with tears running down his face. He is amazing and I’m a huge Dan fan. Losing a parent, at any age, rips a cornerstone of your foundation away. I lost my mother 12 years ago and the pain has subsided by now, but it knocked me out pretty hard. 10:22 am ....March 22nd, 2024 Dan was crying by the end of this tribute to his father. And, as you say, you know that pain 😔 My Dad passed 53 years ago. He and I were very close. The pain will become joy when remembering him. It has for me. I appreciate your open heart reactions. Stay well 🙏
