Actually +Lymm, American English is to Mandarin Chinese as British English is to Traditional Chinese spoken in Taiwan. ^^ (To put it simply, American English is a simplified version of British English, which is considered more traditional.)
@joshuasicling1197

Lymm "American English" is just simplified English.
@Im-LP
@Im-LP 7 лет назад
Don't think American english can be more traditional over British english as British english is older that American english. Truth of the matter is that American english hasn't evolved as much as British english. Yes you can argue that American english is simplified english, but its not really simplified when you call things like petrol, gas. peterol is a liquid idk if its one too many syllables for the American brain to handle but the American language has defenity stunted the room for language growth in America. Probably why Britain has a higher IQ than the US

As a British person I don't think "I'm so chuffed about tomorrow" would really make sense- I would say the only definition was "pleased", not happy or excited. Do people agree or am I wrong, I've just never heard it in that context?

@abrahamakhtar2508

Maya Stilinksi Yes, there is certainly a stereotype that Brits drink tea and eat cookies/biscuits daily. That said, tea is actually pretty popular in America - especially thanks to Starbucks and their "chai tea", which literally means "tea tea" because "chai" means "tea" in South Asian countries... That drives me crazy lol. Anyways, the popularity of tea in England (or at least how popular Americans think it is) is the popularity of coffee in America. Not really sure what my point is, but just wanted to affirm your statement that there is a stereotype that Brits drink lots of tea, and even share a bit about what it's like across the pond.
