Thank you so much for this video! I 've been knitting for many years but just started learning crochet, I have made my first amigurumi mouse, as you suggested, and he's so cute! Now I am making my first cow but have no eyes, so I am on my way to your Pinterest board to check out the crocheted eyes. Thanks!

This was SO helpful! I bought a bunch of safety eyes this past spring and have only used them a few times. I have been mainly embroidering them because my granddaughters are 2 and 1. I Love the crochet eyes!! Pickle is so curious lol I can see why he wants to hang out in your craft room with so many amazing toys to play with!!

Thanks for this, Elise. I’ve crocheted many eyes for my amigurumi characters. They are totally doable! I have a penchant for realistic positioning of the eyes and don’t particularly like “doll” eyes to be W-I-D-E apart! Other creatures, I have a little more relaxed position on eye placement. I LOVE this video, especially because of your research on the different styles/types of safety eyes. I prefer smaller amounts of eyes, because sorting through a multi-pack is not my favorite thing to do. Your videos are my treat for the week! Thanks for your thoroughness in creating information-packed vids!!! Blessings!

Hi Elise! Thank you for this video. Very useful information. I normally embroider my eyes for little ones or use safety eyes for bigger children's toys. However Michaels choice of eyes are slim and are of poor quality. Shipping to Canada is expensive, so I don't order on line. Thanks for this video on eyes! I'm relatively new to Amigurumi, but not crochet. I've just made three Yodas for my grandsons, with each one a bit more skilled than the last (and now I feel like I should replace the first one I did 😊) Where I have lots of frustration and trouble is attaching body parts neatly. On my last Yoda, I attached the ears and arms BEFORE stuffing and it seemed to look neater. Any advice on how to achieve a neater look when attaching body parts? All of your toys look as if their arms and legs are attached firmly and in relation to the body.

So glad you liked the video! I talked a lot about how I attach body parts on this video, you'll need to skip to around the 50 minute mark and you'll see exactly how I do it. I use the same technique for all body parts! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ASzIh5SOo68.html 💗💗💗

I've just finished 2 Dachshunds both with the same pattern. 1 I used black safety eyes lower on the face with black and white embroidery around the eyes and on the black doggie I used 12mm brown eyes and embroidered with white only and put them a bit higher. Put both of them together and you almost want to ask "Who ate my shoes?" "Was it you Daisy?" because the expressions look so different.

I use safety eyes and embroidery. My issues with the safety eyes is Bernat Velvet Yarn. My customers prefer the velvet yarn and my disability doesn’t let me crochet extra tight or use a very small hook. Plus when I use my circular knitting machine the safety eyes and come through the fabric (even double walled). I started using a piece of drop cloth to put the stud of the eye through then the washer. Trying not to glue them as many people buy my stuffed animals for babies. Do you have any suggestions?
@EliseRoseCrochet
@EliseRoseCrochet Год назад
Sounds like you are doing your best! I think there will always be a safety issue when it comes to plastic eyes. Maybe embroider them if it's for a small baby? You could list your toys with recommended ages on them so that they know about the safety concerns. Hope that helps! ❤️

Hi Elise, love this video (and all your videos!) Just wanted to share that I'm currently having a battle with a cheap amazon safety eye, the back won't go on no matter how hard I push, and I can't embroider the eyes because I already got the other eye on. I don't know if it's because I'm tired or it's that time of the month but I started crying from how hard I had to struggle with this eye lol. I am definitely going to try one of the higher quality brands you recommended. Hopefully when my husband comes home from work he can use his man strength to get the back on ... if not I might have to crochet my panda an eye patch and make her a pirate. (ps, currently working on the Lola Panda from Pica Pau, I'm wondering if you've ever done the panda?) Much love
