Ampico, "The Ice Skaters Waltz", by Waldteufel, Transcribed and Played by Leslie Loth 

An awesome grand piano with an incredibly round and full sound. Mason and Hamlin is always my dream.

I don't know what it is about this particular playing and that on a player piano operated by machinery and not human hands but this is absolutely the best the most perfect rendition of the Skater's Waltz (Les Patineurs) by Waldteufel. It has a slower less hurried more nostalgic romantic somewhat melancholy appeal. I am sure this is the way it was originally meant to be played. This dates from the 1880s and does have that sepia colored vision of a framed photograph in the late 19th century or turn of the century of a couple ice skating. I can see a beautiful blonde lady in a bonnet and muff skating with her dark haired sweetheart/fiancé with dark hair and a long trench coat skating in a beautiful wintery wonderland on a frozen pond. The snow falls all around. Such a sweet innocent romantic melody. Thank you for uploading it. Gives me so much pleasure to hear it. Please never take this video down.

We all know the 'Skater's Waltz' but- ain't NEVER heard this transcription!! LOVE IT. LOVE IT. If you're not familiar with the original i don't think you can appreciate this "transcription". And dem's my thoughts. LOVE THE PIANO.

A little late in responding here...Eli, it's a 1927 M&H RBB. . It was originally an Ampico A, however everything was removed in the 1960's. When I had it rebuilt, everything Ampico was re-installed, inc a newly made stack. This is a combo A/B system, that also has the LX modern playback system.

The piano was made in 1925, and was completely restored a few years ago. I am not sure when the composition was written.

so is this an ampico A system with an ampico B drawer? If so this would seem to be the 'dream'. I always felt the Ampico A system was capable of playing more musically than the B. It's just a matter of taste I guess. So, Is this an 'A' system?

something doesn't quite line up with those numbers....ampico B/Mason & Hamlin and 1925. Unless of course your piano was converted to be a model B?

Love the arrangement, but to my ears the sound of the roll really does detract from the listening.

I love the transcription. I have the Adam Carroll roll, but it's not as good. :(
