This is a ska classic. And Amy's respect to the two tone revival is one of the things I love her for. She was an old fashioned gal. Love Always Amy. RIP
Robo - tetanus True. I suppose that because Amy used band members from the days of the ska revival - I reckoned that's where she got her love of the music from - I'm probably wrong though. She may not have been around for the 1960s but she was a student of black music, that's for sure.
Not sure what part of the world you are from but England definitely had the most Ska love in the late 70's / early 80's. It's no surprise that she was influenced by it despite growing up later. The culture mashups of that era in general was such a beautiful thing. I'm definitely a fan of her doing this cover. Pays homage to two great eras in music at once!
@@janheard3826 Ska came before Reggae and Toots Hibbert is an Inspiration and leader in both. Amy was a big fan of The Specials and obvs they covered allot of the original Ska music and gave it a punky edge and interestingly punk and reggae had allot in common and allot of ska revival fans also love both reggae and punk.
Damn thats awesome! its first time I hear Amy singing. Yeah, she's was loved by people for a reason which is her unique talent and style. It looks like I robbed myself by making this discovery only now. Very nice!
The original is by "Toots And The Maytals". Then The Specials covered the song on their first album, and did a brilliant version. Amy was a big fan of The Specials. It's a damn shame how she destroyed her life with alcohol.
Johnny Joseph'sson it’s definitely not the only substance in her life, she did drugs but she got cleaned from drugs towards the end of years and to always market her as a drug addict discredits the hard work she put into getting clean from them. She died from alcohol not drugs.
A victim of being crowded without the space to experience the freedom of love and self which she so clearly needed (as do we all?) the alcohol was the method not the villain
Knowing she was a massive specials fan elevates the song from racist shit to tribute 80s ska. Epic stuff. She left us way too early. All the best die young. Luv and Peace.
The Specials covered it, that's what Amy is referring to. Jeff Buckley always said he was covering the John Cale version of Hallelujah, not Leonard Cohen's. This is a great performance, I love the Later one too (and also Amy's dress, she always wore unique, beautiful dresses). A true artist can make a song their own, even make you like songs you hate, like Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow, I ordinarily dislike that song but really like Amy's version. A terrible loss.

well said my man. theres too much unesersary hate in this world.even the crap she ingested dosent make her a bad person and people shouldn't throw stones if they live in a glasshouse.
Some good people surrounded by hate and intolerance of our world are trying to escape the reality abusing different stuff. Like they search for some shelter to hide from it all.
