Hi Lorna, What month was this? She had another performance with Paul Gellar (same song) in Dec. 2006 on the Jools Holland Show. By that time she had lost a LOT of weight. I wondered how many months had passed.
@@DmPmRr1959 This concert was in 2006 not 2004. I was wondering what month it was because she did an end of the year concert w/Jools Holland where she sung the same song with Paul Geller. The only difference was she looked a lot thinner.
These two versions of just this very song shows her versatility and strength in improvisation. Damn skippy she's a true jazz singer! You are sorely missed Ms. Amy.
Her timing, emotion, delivery, sassiness, SOULFUlLLNESS, & she had soul by millions, makes her able 2 placed up there with the greats, she was yung but nobodies rookie. Sleep Well, Mz Amy Winehouse.
Paul Weller has been one of my favourite male singers for many many years since The Jam, I'm also a huge Amy Winehouse fan. To have this beautiful collaboration is really great, its such a lovely performance, I could listen to this over and over again.
both are brilliant here, so much talent on that stage, such a sad loss to the music world when amy passed but she left a legacy that no one will ever match, xxx
I JUST LESSIONED TO ETTA JAMES DO THIS , I HAVE ALL HER CDS. NOTHING TOUCHES AMY WINEHOUSE, SHE JUST GOES SOME WHERE ELSE WITH HER VOICE SHES RIGHT DOWN TO HER RAW SOUL MY GOD WHAT A LOSS EVERY TIME I FIND MORE AND MORE THINGS SHES DONE. SHES THE BEST SHES S RAW AND SHE MAKES YOU FEEL WHAT SHES SINGING WHAT A GREAT LOSS BUT AT LEAST WE HAVE HER BODY OF WORK LIVE. MISS YOU AMY
It was her ability 2 really, really hear the lyrics. Amy's musical taste was extensive, that's y it's so sad what happened 2 her, now we'll never know. I think had she cleaned all the way up, she could've still made some worthy music. Poor thing.
just beautiful i love these two singing together glad he liked amy as much as we did or we wouldnt be enjoying these very few videos of her singing live.r.i.p.amy
I prefer this version to the string accompaniment version. The arrangement is better, she seems more at ease on stage, and the sax solo is OFF THE CHARTS! Can't get enough of this!
Jennifer Simpson It seems like she gave her all 2 singin, no 1 else phrases like she does, I like her duets with others, am comfy listening 2 her alone. Such talent.
Jennifer Simpson Her ability 2 phrase & the delivery was something special, I couldn't imagine any 1 coming along, yung, wht, british--with the ability 2 re-interpret songz the way she has. I sense there is unreleased music still, I luv I think it's cherrywine with her & Nas 2.Prince playing behind was sic, but prior 2 meeting him heard she was callin him a fag. He was so talented, she could've learned so much from him, musically.
I remember watching this on Jools Holland, and thinking she needs help and they will look after her. Especially knowing the history of jools and Paul Weller. The song to me was so poignant.... surely she will be safe! But alas she wasn't., so sad and tragic. No-one to blame. Everyone knew.... but somebody should have stepped in somewhere along the line... don't you think?
Lesley Couch I cry a tear weekly. The best thing we can do is reach out to a loved one who struggles with addictions and try to help them help themselves
SHE IS AMAZIN LOVE HER AN MISSIN YOU DEARLY TALENT DIS IS WHAT YOU CALL A BEAUTIFUL SOUL POWERFUL LISTEN FOLKS ADELE AN AMY JUS BE STILL AN ONE DAY U WILL UNDERSTAND WHEN HE SAY IVE BEEN THROUGH IT ALL. THANKS YOU CUZ THATS WHERE IM AT TODAY💞
Erm..... So in my line of work if I’m exceptionally talented in what I do I either decide to capitalise on what I’m gifted with/what I do or squander my talent and see how it all works out. If it’s the former I carve a nice life for myself or if it’s the later life goes on. No time for sentimental gushyness. Great talent but all in her hands I’m afraid to say. Was she found dead in a bed-sit studio in a derelict run down suburb! No; £2.7 m Camden Town gated property, so hardly the “bread line”. FYI I am a fan, but a little context here please....
you have no idea who this guy is. he has been around performing since the 70's. He was in The Jam, The Style Council, now Solo. He has performed so many good tunes. He is excellent live and he is somebody that others want to perform with. Listen to the sould. I think you may want to listen to more of his music before judging.
1. The song isn't in Weller's comfortable vocal range; he's adapting for Amy. 2. The masculinity, depth and soul of his performances here is like treacle and tar. Beautiful.
