CORRECTION! There's no such thing as Italian Eritrea. An area of Eritrea was occupied by Italy under a deceptively forged treaty. The Ras who were the rightful heads of the region repented for their treaty and went to Emperor Menelik for assistance in ousting their hostile allies who have become occupiers of their territory. Emperor Menelik drove the Italian oppressors back; allowing them to remain in agreed upon territory and having right to possession of their property i.e. buildings and factories that they built, not the land. They were forced to pay tribute for the land they occupied. The Italians approach Emperor Menelik with a similarly deceitful treaty presenting him with a copy of the treaty in Italian unaware that his wife Empress Taytu Betul Spoke fluent Italian. Emperor Menelik responded with a call to war. At the Battle of Adwa he sent the Italians running away from Ethiopia with their tails between their legs. ☺ You should address the commanders with their proper titles for example RAS Mikael ! All were great commanders in Army chiefs should be addressed with respect! Your referencing everyone including the emperor without title is disrespectful !! A very Colonial perspective.

As a Traditional Catholic I especially love this! Italy, having just taken the Papal States about a decade or so ago, was heavily anticlerical and doing things to undermine the Catholic Faith among its citizenry. Ethiopia by contrast was, as far as I know was still faithful to their Christian faith, even if it wasn’t in Communion with the Vicar of Christ. It really shows that a culture and civilization’s success doesn’t depend on the colour of one’s skin or one’s ethnicity, but something, else, altogether…
