Say what you will about Cody Rhodes, but at the end of the day this man delivers. His passion feels authentic and is contagious. Whatever happens next I’ll be watching
Donno what priwrestling is but I'll remember him for prowrestling Edit: ahole editted it now I look like a fool, not that I wasn't a fool to begin with
they truly treat it as special as the world title. i feel they treat the aew championship very well and give long reigns to show the people that have it have it for a reason and arent easily giving it up. but the open challenge and great defenses definitely give tnt a feeling of importance even wwf didnt give the IC championship in some of its best days
Dusty captured emotion, felt relatable, he made you feel like you were in that journey with him. Cody can emotionally give a rehearsed response...well. He’s the corporate, generic version of dusty.
Hell a match tonight. Will support Cody Rhodes no matter what’s next for him. He’s a great performer both in ring and when he’s on the mic but an even better person.
Massive respect for this guy. Instead of making himself the biggest star in the company by winning World title he is making others the big stars in this business.
I think at some point the E will stop having interesting storylines for Cody and I really hope he comes home after having a good reign there, although I think it will be several years before it happens.
Rewatching it now, god you're so right! I just really hope this works out for him. His dad meant the world to me, one of the sweetest people I've ever met! I hope his legacy as a world champion can carry on with Cody, with all respect to Dustin who is beyond legend status already! 💛🖤
I think that's why they did that match first. They didn't know how long they could go, or what could happen. The main event has to be timed well. That was the main event though.
Imagine booing this man. Christ. The grandson of a plumber. Dashing, and the prince of daaaaark matter. Dude is a class act and top tier talent with an unrivaled love for the business.
i ain't booing him, but you talk like promo is what only matters to a wrestler, because if you try to say his matches performance was good, that's pure bs right there
@@aaarlodreed7350 People were legit upset he beat Malakai and it then turned into bandwagon boos. I bet 90% of the people couldnt tell you why they do it other than made if stuff like he buries talent.
Compliment Sammy on owning the belt then subtly reminds us that Cody himself brought him in the company. Cody can dish realistic promos and still sell his character with such balance
That was the first clip of Cody I've seen in a long time that felt real. Love him, but his stuff always feels rehearsed. It really felt like he was talking straight from the heart this time. More of this please!
How many times have we heard these types of Promos from Cody and he lost to Brodie we heard one last week was supposed to be a pipe bomb but it was a dud I'm a Cody fan but I call Bullshit
Probably the best post match interview of the aew era. Was real, heartfelt and left me with unanswered questions and sympathy. Such an undervalued story teller. That start with the story about his dad was genuinely captivating and had me listening to every breath of that interview. Good job Cody
If this is really it for Cody in AEW, then that sucks. For as weird at the latter half got, he has been a consistent solid part of the company, and it's a massive shame to see him go.
Cody is a genius when it comes to the little things in his presentation. This feels like an authentic post-fight interview, it doesn't feel scripted or "dramatic" it feels real. Thats always the thing I've loved about his AEW character, he has always tried to have a more sports centric approach to his presentation. His character cares about every win and loss, he has a coach, he analyzes his performances, and treats every match like a big deal. And the way he blends real with kayfabe just makes it that much more compelling. Cody takes that old school approach to wrestling, presenting it like a real sport, and has put a new twist on it that is so refreshing, and I wish more wrestlers would pick up on that and follow his lead.
"There's so many elephants in the room. This is an insane week in wrestling. People think that the Sean Ross story is BS, its not. I am working here without a contract. I'm not even on payroll anymore. I'm working here on a handshake deal" - Cody Rhodes
@@fahmizzzzzz yeah right, in a narrow sense, yes. But even in a wider sense you don't have do do it like them. In all sports broadcasting there are after match interviews and it can generate story, heat and generally gravitas to character (like here). Those kind of segments are lacking.
Who’s here after he showed up at WrestleMania? Crazy this happened only two months apart. “I have never felt more at home than under those lights, wrestling for the TNT Title.” Mm-hm.
Promos like this is the reason why I love AEW and why I've love Cody except for that star dust bullshit. But he is the example of betting on yourself and cashing out big time
@@chadk890 i was saying if cody didn’t leave and make his name elsewhere he wouldve been in a very dolph ziggler/miz(literally his first feud) kinda role. glad he can be a top guy there but lets not act like he didnt spend the past 10 years? or so making his name mean THEY HAD TO PUT HIM IN THAT POSITION if he was ever gonna come back
This is the Cody we love….a guy who can cut a genuine promo from his heart that is believable and not phony. He doesn’t have the be the over the top guy, he can be this version and we will root for him all day.
Man, when Cody’s on, he’s one of the absolute greatest. We hear a lot of talk these days about “giving people their flowers” while they’re still here. I get why people boo Cody. But I can’t. The guy deserves all the praise in the world for all the work he’s done and how consistently great he has been since 2016.
What in the hell? Greatest promo of all time? Smh No, not even close. Not sure what you're smoking but it must be powerful stuff. What's causing all of this? You nerds have lost your damn minds.
Cody will forever be my dude. He played a big part in the creation of AEW which in turn revitalized my love for pro wrestling. Add the fact that he puts on bangers every time he wrestles and always speaks from the heart, I can never hate him. Screw the haters, Cody is the man in AEW and I have no doubt the day will comes where every wrestling fan will come to appreciate what he's done for this industry. So thank you Cody Rhodes ❤️
Exactly! Same here. Cody ain't leaving. I believe his wife just had their child and also he's been going hard since AEW started. He's taking a break be with his family and to recharge his battery so to speak.
@@BabysitterSky you are 2 weeks late on this however at least you still managed to witness a new history written in the record books of this wrestling industry
I was there, in clevland, what a experience it was. Sammy and Cody put on a clinic, never seen anything like it. Last time I was in that arena was wcw days there over 25 years ago. The wrestling business has grown and I'm so proud of the matches and type of company Aew has grown.
Cody Rhodes is AEW's version of Stunning Steve Austin. Some success, but mostly underutilized by Tony Khan and unappreciated by many of the AEW fans. And barely two years later, he is headlining the biggest wrestling event of all and may likely win the biggest wrestling title of all.
I've a whole new found respect for Cody, wonderfully stated & more power to him in being gracious in losing the match. More athletes need to show this kind of caliber.
I have always been a fan of Cody since he came on the scene in 2007. I never understood the fact that he gets so much hate. It sucks that he puts on amazing matches to entertain us and he still gets heat for what?! Cuz he's another Cena? Cody is AWESOME and will forever be one of my favorites. I don't know where the future of Cody will be but I hope the best for him, hopefully we see one more run or something but if not then if this is a pre-retirement speech then what a hell of a career Cody has had. Well done. Thank you Cody!!
Cody deserves all the credit in the world for what he does. The guy puts his heart and soul into wrestling and has done so much for the industry, nothing but respect for Cody.
@Arkham _Raider he can't because of the stipulation put in his match a few years ago for the AEW World Championship that if Chris Jericho won Cody would never challenge for the title again which Jericho won
Cody has so much going on with his go big show but still wanna wrestle , no contract he aint getting paid to wrestle damn thats y the wrestling community loves you , thanks bro for that passion u have for wrestling your one of the reason why we still watch wrestling n still are fans of this art 👏👏👏
Mannnnn thanks for make me love AEW....Cody & Samy...last night fight it was one of those that you will never forget and will talk about it for long long time. Awesome!!!!!
He ain't lying about the contract, His contract expired at the end of 2021. Name a guy who does so much for the sake of the fans and delivers EVERY TIME. A Legend
Cody Rhodes without an AEW contract feels dirty. He is THE man alongside the young bucks who created this company. We are all so grateful for what he’s done. With Rumble season upon us I can see him going there for the pop alone, but there’s no way he stays. Maybe an NJPW stint but literally outside of that AEW is his home and he will be back.
Many people speculate he has executive contract and performer contract of which only the latter one has expired. Similar type of contract than Triple H does.
I still don't understand why people are booing him. Maybe they are just mindless and like to follow a trend? This man is one of the greatest of all time inside and outside the ring. If more people had the drive, talent and passion for this business as Cody this business would be perfect. I love you cody, loyal till I die!!
I give lots of respect for Cody... the big picture.. he always comes back around to put over his opponents... says more than most. Show me not him getting over but yet show me how he gets others over.. respect.
This was the best Cody Segment in a while. He really set himself up to overcome his demons in AEW, I would have found a way to make this happen. Guess we will see.
"I've never felt more at home than wrestling for that title in front of a crowd like that" That's because you took something you didn't like in your life and had the balls to make the leap and change it. If you read this Cody, know that you busting your ass does not go unappreciated.
