On September 26, 2014, a member of the Chicago ARTCC (ZAU) Radar Facility, one of the busiest airspace in the United States, committed arson and set the equipment ablaze, causing multiple sectors to go into downtime and multiple radar & equipment failures. The entire airspace was cleaned out, as you can hear in this audio. In the following next week's, multiple controllers from ZAU went to different approach facilities and ARTCC's to help out with traffic flow. as NATCA says, it was one of the coolest feats of teamwork in history.
