Big thank you to Tessa for sharing her knowledge! I had never heard about the issue she mentioned with lash growth serums, so I double-checked it with a couple dermatologists and it’s TRUE. It’s not a concern for everyone but if you have deep set eyes, you might want to consider skipping lash serums with the ingredient she mentioned.

Hi Susan! what do you think about the use of the three step cleanse in her routine? For acne prone skin I have been using an oil base cleanser (Banila) and a CeraVe gel cleanse, but would the cleansing balm be clogging the pores? Also, if you can have recommendations for new face masks and body skin routines would be amazing! P.s. thank you so much for putting Naturium on Amazon because I am able to buy it in New Zealand!

This video was amazing. As a rosacea sufferer with normal skin, I never really get to hear people talk about rosacea in general, let alone from a perspective thats not related to uber hydrating products with paraffin, suitable anti-aging for rosacea etc., its just sooooo finnicky. This video was beyond a pleasant surprise for me! My god!

I feel like her reasoning against an oil cleanse doesn't make sense. An oil cleanser is not just an oil, it has emulsive ingredients added for the exact purpose of the oil not leaving residue on the skin. If someone properly emulsifies the oil cleanser before going in with the 2nd cleanse, there shouldn't be any residue left. Of course, a badly formulated oil cleanser could end up not emulsifying properly, but find a good product and I feel like her reasoning doesn't hold.
@dora876

Agreed, I’ve never ever had a problem with residue being left behind by an oil cleanser
@TessZolly
@TessZolly 3 года назад
Renee rouleau has a great article that breaks it down, she explains much better than I! However the simplified version is that a water based cleanser cannot fully cut an oil, despite emulsifiers. Meaning some is likely to stay on your skin-that smooth, soft conditioned feeling is actually a light film. To me, it makes the most sense to use an oil (with the largest molecule) LAST in the routine. Changing that makes a big difference especially for my acne prone clients. To me, it doesn’t make sense for someone oily to rub oil on their face. But I absolutely am aware it’s an unpopular opinion and that’s okay :) I’m glad you have a routine that works for you! That’s really all us esties want- for our clients to listen to their skin and use what their skin is responding to! There’s room for two perspectives 🤍🤍🤍

@ashd7659
@ashd7659 3 года назад
@@TessZolly She explains it in theory, but there's no evidence to suggest that "water based cleansers don't cut through all the oil" is true. I respect hers and your opinions as professionals, but her article is just that - an opinion. I think it's misleading to state the opinion as what is actually happening on the skin, when you don't really know that for certain.
@TessZolly
@TessZolly 3 года назад
@@ashd7659 For myself and my clients, removing an oil cleanser is a positive change for us as it sets the stage for our routine with an efficient cleanse without any risk of a film. Oil cleansing is a trend that was made popular by bloggers- it may work for some, but I don’t personally hop on trends in my practice. I am regularly analyzing skin and identifying potential clogging culprits because my acneic clients come to me for results. Oils have become immensely popular in the last few years, but if someone is acne prone such as myself, I do not recommend them as they can be clogging. I hope you can respect my professional opinion and allow me to share in my video. Just as you can share yours in your own!

Cleansing oil is different than a topical oil. It binds to the oil in our skin and contains surfactants so that it can pull away sebum, oil based products from our pores and not leave a residue. Some can but most don't. In fact I'd say not using one makes it hard to remove the oils from our skin because the water cleansers don't bind to oil so our topicals won't soak in well. However in a micellar water like she used, it contains oil that is binded to water so the oil in that cleanser is attaching to the oil on our skin and clearing it away. But there is a huge difference between an oil cleanser and a oil serum or topical product.

I use the oil "cleanse" as a make-up remover because many others irritate my sensitive skin. I actually use plain grape seed oil you buy in the grocery store. I put it all over and then wipe it off several times with damp soft washcloths. Once that's removed then I rinse it well and wash my face with a face wash. Maybe a mask. Then very gentle toner. Then hyaluronic acid serum. Then moisturizer.

@Tess Zolly, keep the amazing content coming! Your expertise is so incredibly appreciated! As someone who is currently in esthetician school, I wish more people realized that we actually do know what we’re talking about. I think it’s great that information on skincare is becoming more accessible to people but I wish more people understood that getting information from the internet is not the same as getting a formal education as an esthetician. Skincare is so personal and certain things work for certain people and not others. I followed your advice regarding oil cleansers and tried a cream cleanser and honestly, my skin has never been better! So much of skincare is trial and error and more people need to understand that you can’t judge one persons routine based on how you think your own skin may possibly react. Just like you can’t always tell if a product is “good or bad” solely by looking at an ingredient list. Your expertise and knowledge on this subject are truly a breath of fresh air! 💗

Triple cleanse, foreo, mechanical exfoliation, shower two times a day... My oily dehydrated skin will be soooo oily and with cloged pores with extrame texture. When i stoped acids, retinol and started using a lot of hydration and closing it with hemp seeds oil WOW my skin is so plump, clean pores and no oilines. In the morning i am like "the is nothing to wash", and earlier i was usuing cerave clenser two times because it still felt oily (i would say waxy) after the first time. One thing i totally agree is CDB!!!! WOW THIS THING!!! It healded my hormonal and health problems and a lot of skin problems on my and my family bodies, not only on faces. But! If you are going to put in on your face! Remember CBD is just extract wich they can put in qny oil, even coonut oil. Which is fine oral but veeeery bad for most of people faces. So just read what it says on the box. The best for oily or acne skin would be if CBD extract is in hemp seeds oil.

Everyone is saying good things about the GlyMed line, so I'll have to look into this further BUT I am always so hesitant when estheticians (and it's almost always estheticians rather than derms) recommend a pricier product and say that it's a "professional line" and "only available through..." (or god forbid it's a "medical-grade" product). But would love others' thoughts of this as well.

I enjoyed the routine and advice I just don’t like when products are used that you can only get through a professionals since not everyone has access to these products. Alternatives would be nice!

I think that’s kind of the point. There’s a lot of marketing and pushing of products in these videos. She’s only participating to promote her forthcoming skincare line...

If you hate water dripping down your arms at the sink when you wash your face, all you need is a pair of scrunchies. Put one on each wrist and it will catch the drips and keep your arms dry.

I can't help but hear as the point to this video is choose/ buy the " cream cleanser" over Oil Cleansing, because this cream cleanser you see being used that is exclusive to estheticians only to try sell to any new potential client's is better and more effective. It's very expensive too 🙄💸 .
@brandybeautyx3

professional products usually have a higher concentration of Ingredients which is why it’s exclusive to estheticians but every professional line has a retail lines . It’s the same concept as prescriptions only being able to be dispensed by doctors because of the active ingredients etc . Usually professional products tend to be better and unfortunately the cost usually is more expensive but again this is due to the concentration of the ingredients in the products and a high quality of those ingredients . BUT I will be transparent even as an esthetician not everything that’s extremely expensive is always better . You can always find a almost comparable most cost effective but you won’t see the same results atleast not as quickly as professional products .

@@brandybeautyx3 Agreed! I think the majority of us skincare savvies are onto many inexpensive alternatives / dupes these days which is just great. Also peeps making their own 🙌

better oil cleansers have good emulsifiers so they don't leave any residue behind. Also a 60sec cleansing time is not suitable for sensitive skin. Double cleanse cuts down cleansing time, while cleanses effectively.

The amount of time I had to skip while she was cleansing is insane ! So she she said 60 seconds we get it , why do we have to watch her double cleanse for that amount of time , there’s something called editing .

I'm sorry, but could you please wash the sides of your nose equally? Its a tiny detail, but you are squishing your nose extra because you forgett to wash the other with your foreo while you are talking, and it totally bothers me that only one side of your nose gets proper attention!! ^^ Thank you very much for all the good information, though, please continue sharing! :)
