Even though I understand the general meaning of this sentence I find it very difficult to translate it into English, especially this part "그중에서 제일 먼저 해야 할 일은 지난주에 도서관에서 빌렸는데 조금 덜 읽은 책을 다 읽고 도서관에 반납하는 일이고". This is the way 선생님 translates this part in English: Among those things the first thing I have to do before anything else is *I borrowed the book from the library last week but* I want to finish the book where I have a little bit left to read and (next) is the task of returning the book to the library. The fact that this is the literal translation drives me crazy as a learner because in order to translate this sentence into English, even though I understand the meaning of it, I have to put it in the correct English form first, because in Korean things are expressed differently. And what makes me sadder is that as a learner, as long as I think in English I'm gonna fail at speaking Korean. I have to think in Korean, but how do I think in Korean if I struggle to understand why this simple sentence is expressed the way it is? Because in English you would say "Among those, the first thing I have to do is finish reading the book that I borrowed from the library last week and return it". The "지난주에 도서관에서 빌렸는데" in the middle of the sentence confuses me so much I want to cry ㅠㅠ But anyways, I'll keep on going. Thank you 선생님! Fighting everyone!!
