I like how you hash out your ideas as a collector in these videos. It's cool to see the thought process evolve, especially after watching a few videos. This is something I constantly do in my head, and i'm glad to know I'm not the only one!
I’m starting to get a few years of luxury watch journey under my belt and I’m re-watching your videos with my more experienced ears. I can relate to a lot of what you say in this video. Keep up the content.
I'm really put off by Rolex AD snobbery. Watched your video on Panerai, pulled the trigger on it and i'm so glad I have it over the Submariner..I have your video to thank....I've been cured of my desire to have a Rolex sports model!!
I feel you Michael, been to Rolex store 5 times this year and always felt like you did and I did buy a watch for her last year. Finnaly they decided to sell me the sub date. But 80 % of the time I wear like yours Omega. But not because I dont feel safe, in Slovenia we dont have that problems but because it comfortable and so easy on my wrist and also good looking.
Been subscribed to you for 4 years now and I'm so glad you're making more videos than ever now. A lot of your thoughts resonate with me, in watch, cars, travel and life. You are right about the Bluesy, it's to full on for work and I wouldn't wear it around the house. It's a weekend watch but it could be your one and done (I've been eye one for years).
Really enjoy the style of your vids. Casual and real. Totally understand the watch fatigue. I put a few of mine away from time to time, but do enjoy getting them back on the wrist after the break.
my mate works in the business area of central Birmingham and a guy was jumped for his Rolex outside his office. It happens everywhere. You have to be careful and social media is amplifying things. You're wearing ten, twenty thousands on your wrist. Society has regressed. We have a real problem with criminals and nobody addresses it in govt or opposition
Lol, absolute bollocks. I’m sure the mugging happened but stop being brainwashed by media and actually look at stats. I spent all day today in central london, including Kensington and Mayfair in T-shirt (yes just one, I don’t get cold) wearing a Royal Oak. Never for a split second felt unsafe. Grow up.
@@Cull_Obsidian I understand what you’re saying but the key word here is Day, not night. Night is when crap hits the fan and the mugging occur. Here in NYC I know for a fact that night is just not the time to be wearing a watch.
@@ViolinistWilliam Come to LA and wear your Rolex in down town LA, Beverly hills, woodland hills, laguna beach, etc doesn't matter anymore. In fact, there are more day time Rolex robberies now than night time because there are way more opportunities and targets during the day. Not sure how it is in NYC but it's getting bad over here.
Mate I sold my Rolex’s and now JUST own the white SMP 300m and I am honestly really happy. Stopped caring about this ‘status symbol’ mentality and Rolex marketing.
Michael, can you please do a review of the Explorer 2 black new model? I'm preparing for a watch to wear for spring and summer with short sleeves that won't attract attention. I think that's the only model that can be understated and versatile. Thanks mate.
From my experience with ADs they’re really good in Manchester. They are genuine people that want to help, they do make it clear that there are models that you can’t get but they aren’t snobby about it.
Let’s call it what it is Mike, the Omega is your “slumming” watch. That hurts me a bit because I’ve got a couple of Omegas that I absolutely adore. I guess personally, rather than wear a less than inspiring piece into the city at night, I’d rather go without. Cheers.
Just give the bluesy time. You will use it when you most want it. It isn't a daily driver. Sometimes the flash is warranted. When you are in company that won't be impressed by the watch but by you wearing the watch, then you will know it's time to wear the bluesy.
i have relatives around Windsor. that end of Berkshire, Henley and then down into Surrey, Ascot etc are where I'd live if I had to be around London side
Last time I was in the UK was Birmingham in spring 2018. Everything I’ve heard is that it’s gotten worse, sadly. It wasn’t directionally correct back then, either, but it certainly hasn’t improved crime-wise for obvious reasons…
Surprised you didn’t talk about the 60th edition bond Seamaster! Would’ve been curious on your thoughts & what it may mean for the future of omega exploring these designs (no date, aluminum bezel, etc.)
Twickenham, Richmond way still okay but I get what you mean. More and more violent crimes going on unfortunately! I think you’re wise to put the ‘toys’ in their box before making a decisions but get the ‘shouty’ point and Omega do a great job. Happy training 🥦🥚🥕🍗
Curious to know more on why Dubai is slowly losing its appeal to you after 12 years. Is it just fatigue with the Dubai weather and culture? Or a yearning to go back to your roots in Europe? No need to answer but it’s an interesting topic of conversation.
As I told you in a previous video (which you seemed to think I was crazy) the watch theft “craze” is bollocks. Yes watches her stolen, but nowhere near at the levels people think. Also turns out the large “watch theft” social media accounts like on insta are run by Watch Collecting, an auction site. Remember seeing that big sign on wheels advertising about that? Yep, them too. Interesting you get such a bad reception from central London ADs. I’ve had great relationships with them, including last month getting a bi-metal Daytona in under 2 weeks for a relative. I wonder why they treated you like that. Might be your attitude?
It was one AD in particular really. The watch theft stuff - well depends on area. I walked through Finsbury Park in London the other week in the evening- that was an experience 😂
