Great storytime section about Breitling! My Q&A entry: if you could get any modern Rolex watch at retail, which model would it be and why?

Hi Michael, could you please do a video on why you got rid of the Omega SMP300 on rubber? Maybe cover what you liked about it, what you didn't like about it, and why you decided to ultimately sell it. I think it would be a great idea for a new video!

I think the next fix is a big problem with watch collecting. I've made my Sub for less than six months and it's my dream watch. I keep trying to force fit a GMT or a Exp 2 but when I'm real with myself, I would probably end up wearing the Sub 90% of the time and once the newness wears off, probably 99% of the time. It sometimes feels like I hit the jackpot but I still want to play in the casino.

Hi Michael, good video. My first watch was a Timex. My Dad and I found it while walking on the beach when I was about 10. He later passed it on to me and I wore it through my teen years. I kept it and later passed it on to my son. Great watch as it's still ticking and never had a service. Have a great weekend. Cheers, John

Q@A question : Hi Michael, always interesting to watch your videos. Maybe a personal question, but did you keep your important “moment” watches (wedding/honeymoon,birth of kid, career achievement, etc…)? Because for me it’s all about creating memories with my watches.

This is what I have been feeling as well, back then I have a one watch that is with me everywhere and anytime. Now I've become a person that's always looking for the perfect one watch. Collecting more and more thinking I just need one watch.

It’s funny, I think this is one of the more interesting videos. I always love hearing people’s journey into luxury watches. For me, the first was the 16570 Explorer II white dial. Wore it nearly everyday for two years. After my son was born bought my sub and have probably worn the explorer II 5 times in the past two years.

Great vid. You gotta give it to Breitling and Tag: they get you in. For all the hate they get, they are undeniably appealing and masculine, if chosen well…

I totally forgot I was considering a Tag before the Breitling. A yellow dialled one lol. But you’re completely right.

Your background in watches chimes with mine. The Casio calculator blew my mind (never had one as was 99.99 from memory at Argos which was an insane amount for a 9 year old). First watch was a lorus sports then a 30 pound sekonda which I loved. Uni I had a fake patek calatrava (also from Dubai!) With a gorgeous maroon leather strap and white dial. The crystal popped on a flight some years later.. jellyfish swatch also at uni followed by omega planet ocean 42(sold), rolex deepsea dblue(sold). Currently with a gmt rootbeer TT 6 digit, cartier santos medium and grand seiko classic dress piece. I'm thinking panerai sub for the 4th and final piece.

Great video, thanks for sharing... My first swiss watch was a Tag Heuer 2000...followed by an Omega Seamaster 300, Seiko SKX. Oris Aquis and a Rolex Submariner no date... The Rolex Sub has been my daily watch since 2018... I regret selling my Seamaster which I wore for 14 years... A lesser expensive swiss made watch recently caught my eye in the form of a Tissot Seastar pro 2000 with turqoise dial... I must say that except for average bracelet the watch itself is of fantastic quality and is a real pleasure to wear ... A real stunning watch to look at with the tool elements that are allied to a good dive watch.. It is 46mm so not for everyone.. and that is the part that I like as this makes it less common.. It is getting far more wrist time than my Sub at the moment..

I know you don’t like to go over your collection lol because I asked before. But I’m having a hard time knowing which watches you currently own and which left your collection, once you’ve owned all Sea Dwellers and Deep Seas and a couple Subs, Panerai and Omega. can you do a current state of all the collection and why some hit the chopping board just to have a sense of where your channel direction is going?

Great video! Do you still have the 300m? I know you don't like the idea of a SOTC "look at me" but would love to see a table top collection video. Do you collect anything else? I found your (IG) fragrance and watch posts very interesting!

Hey, for the q&a : why did you decide to go with the 14060M instead of the tritium 14060 pre-1999? Tritium, 2 lines of text, very charming, so what made you go for the more modern superluminova (+3130) version? Really enjoy your content, cheers !

Hey Michael, question. How do you store your Sub (no date). I recently picked up a Bennett Winch (made in England) watch roll for my 114060, the nicest single roll on the market my opinion.

I remember being absolutely obsessed with the watches pages in the Argos catalogue 😂 My first was a Casio as well and I thought I was absolutely ballin’ when I got it. My first “proper” watch was Seiko Kinetic on a silicone strap - stopped working and then my dad got me a titanium Swatch when I was 15. Still have both! My first luxury watch was an Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra on a blue leather deployment clasp strap - bloody nice watch. Unbeknownst to me, you shouldn’t be wearing leather all the damn time. Ended up being all grimey. Either way, I ended up selling that like a total knobhead….oh well..

A question: Whats your take on Micro or Kickstarter brands. Would you wear for example an BaltiC MR02 or BiCompax? Or what about the Argon SpaceOne? I'd like to know your oppinion about these kind of watches in general.

Amazing how Rolex has changed its perception from a dad watch to the “it” sports watch.

Q&A Question: I find myself wanting the Sub to be my first luxury watch, but I also like to be a bit different and it seems like the predictable choice. I think you also like to go the “non-mainstream” path (like your GP you had), but still enjoy the Sub. Did you feel similarly about it being a choice that’s too predictable, or what do you think? I’m probably just over thinking this and should buy what I like haha.
@starsnstripesus1
@starsnstripesus1 Год назад
I can tell you that as a Submariner owner, I actually don't feel that it is predictable at all. If you look at most people's wrist in any place like a Starbucks, or grocery store, you will see that like 99% of anyone that has a watch has an Apple Watch. For this reason alone, I'd say that having any luxury watch, let alone a Rolex you are definitely the exception in most places. Now, if you talk to people who are in the watch circles, they might make you feel that a Sub is a common watch, but I can tell you it is not, at least not outside of places like Dubai. I think a lot of people actually will go for the Sea Dweller because of the depth rating and so forth, but for me, I always was drawn to the Sub because of the thinness of the case, I like a thin case. I also prefer a gloss dial as oppose to a matt dial. Additionally, I love the no date look of the Submariner as opposed to anything with the date. It's subjective, but that's just what drew me to the Sub. I do have other watches, but I pride myself in being a collector of 1 luxury watch, and that's my beloved Submariner. It's my everyday watch and will always feel special to me as this was my dream watch since I was 12. Hope this helps you with your decision. By the way, I know the wait time is an issue in many places, but I picked up my Submariner in just 4.5 months at my Rolex AD at Millenia in Orlando. Good luck!

@@starsnstripesus1 thank you so much for your thoughtful, well-written response. I absolutely agree. Especially with your point on how the Submariner can feel like the predictable pick when submersed (pun-intended) in the watch world. But when observing people in day to day life, almost no one has on a luxury watch, and even fewer are wearing a Rolex Submariner. Thanks again for your comment, it's much appreciated

I was into my watches in the 1980s. Nothing fancy or expensive but always wore one and was happy with it. Then it just washed over me for 25-years. Often, I would pass with Rolex in the window and thought, "who an earth would pay £1,200 for a watch" It seemed obscene for a kid growing up poor. Now.....
