Marvin and Mary you don't even know what an inspiration you are too me. I'm 2 years from retiring and my wife and I had big plans of building and living on the road. Well 2 weeks ago I had an aneurism behind my right knee and was producing blood clots in 72 hours I lost my right leg just above the knee. I thought well those plans are history. But after watching this video. I said to myself I am still going to do this I can do this. Thank you so very much. May God bless you and your family and happy trails
I agree with Bill. There are lightweight and inexpensive folding aluminum ramps that we use to get my power chair in and out of the trailer. It would be easy to arrange the interior to accommodate the chair even more. With a prosthetic, you'd be even more mobile. It can be done. Depends on your ability to make it happen. I believe....!
Donald Stencio so sorry to hear you lost your leg above your knee . Are you wearing a C Leg prosthesis ? I'm worried about becoming a dbl amputee as I'm a type 2 diabetic & having trouble w/neuropathy made worse by chemotherapy for Hodgins Lymphoma last October & I'm having trouble w / bad swelling in my legs .
@@bobshaw4063 Hello Bob, sorry to hear about your problem. They won't fit me with a c leg until I loose some weight. My problem was insurance company denied the socket and it was six months before I got it. So with all that time sitting in a wheelchair I lost a lot of muscle mass.now it's just a slow process of building back up. But I'm working on it. Good luck my friend
@@donaldstenico5266 Donald Thank You for your reply and kind words . Sorrynyou can't be fit with a C leg until you lose some weight . Do know have a prosthesis ? Are you a Veteran if so I think the VA will give you prosthesis for free .
I am camping in the same campground as them in North Louisiana. After watching your video, I walked over and called him by name and called her by name and he looked at me and he saud “You’ve seen the video? There are a wonderful couple and their trailer is an awesome build.
Lol. They've been all over the SE since they moved in. They are currently in South Florida. Just a couple of kids having the time of their lives. Who knows where they'll be tomorrow.
@@billanddeb very good interview. I have health concerns and this made me think that it’s possible for the wife and I to get out on the road. We probly won’t build ours but buy an older fifth wheel and do a remodel.
This man is an absolute genius! Why is this the first time I have ever seen an RV or a trailer with the powerhouse in one, easy to work on space!? Absolute gold! This gent should teach classes! Thank you SO much for this video!!
@@mobiletinyhousetravels Marvin are you able to do the driving or is Mary doing the driving towing the cargo trailer coversion . Y'all did an awesome job on the conversion of your beautiful home on wheels . Marvin may I ask you what caused your disabilty ? I admire you for not letting your disability holding you back from traveling our beautiful country . Go for it & safe travels always .
That's the most complimentary statement I've read in a long time. You are very kind. I do enjoy the back and forth of real time conversation so much that I prefer having those who need help contact me. Now that the build is done, I have enough time.
I’m sure I just missed it but what is the make of your cargo trailer? How wide is your entry door? What is the height from ground to door threshold? Great job and very inspiring.
I'm so happy for them. They didn't let his disability get in the way of their dreams. Can't wait to meet all of you'll when we can get back on the road. God Bless You'll and the Good Lord keep you'll safe in his loving arms. Amen.
It's probably easier living in this camper with mobility issues than it would be in a house. Everything is just right there for him. Great knowledge. Great build. Great life! Wonderful loving wife! Best to you!
What a lovely couple. They have built themselves a great trailer with a lot of comfort and a huge kitchen. Very impressive water and electrical systems and the shower pump is very cool. If you're in a wheelchair permanently, you could have the ramp at the back for entry/emergency exit and use a half wall for your electrical equipment and water tanks. A Murphy bed on the side wall with a desk on the back for those who work online is a space saving idea. Really encouraging video for those of us looking forward to retirement.
I REALLY like this man's attitude and fortitude! He researched enough "to be dangerous"! I love that he was willing to do that research, and then DO WHAT HE NEEDED TO in order to safely get i the rig and ON THE ROAD! He is certainly not handicapped in his faculties of reason and planning!!!
They are a wonderful, smart, and loving couple! Marriage was never meant to be a competition. It was to be love, help - meet to complete, and complement the other! I love them! I pray God gives them decades of safe, happy, and loving travels! Ann from Alabama here! 😁🙏🇺🇸💗🌳
As someone with mobility issues myself, I have to say, these 2 are an inspiration! I could just see myself being able to follow my dreams of traveling the country with a similar set-up. I particularly like all of the handrails everywhere. In my mind they seemed to sound so invasive and off-putting to have them in a tiny home. But they had several and they weren't invasive or off-putting. They didn't take up any space at all really. And they were in such handy places. I was also always concerned about a composting toilet and if I could really use it with mobility issues. If this gentleman can do it, I know I could too. I enjoyed all of the knowledge he shared and the beautiful workmanship. That kitchen so big and pretty. She is amazing doing so much hard work. I'm truly inspired! Thank you for sharing their story.
After 40 years as an RN I'm close to retiring. Marvin, you and Mary have seriously planted the seed. The trailer is spectacular. I hope we cross paths one day. Cheers.
This was awesome. Thank you Marvin and Mary for sharing your amazing build. I have a disability and it is keeping me from getting out of where I am at. Thank you for showing that you build according to your specifications. There is definitely a need for trailers that are designed for someone with mobility issues and the need will continue to grow. There is value in every bit of knowledge, Marvin. Mary is my hero! You go girl! Keep shining your light and thank you for being a blessing.
Thanks for your kind words. We pray that your circumstances don't continue to hold you hostage. We are fortunate and we are fully aware of that fact. We wish the same or better for anyone with the desire to see this country up close.
I could talk to Marvin and marry all day long and also you too. This was the nicest video I watch the tone and feeling makes me think there are good people in the world. Thank you for a great night of entertainment.
What a great couple, full of valuable information! They are an inspiration to many folks that may have mobility issues, they did so much planning on so many issues with the cargo trailer, and I learned so much from this video!! Bravo!! Thank you so much for sharing with us this extraordinary build and sharing Mary and Marvin's journey!! Sincerely, Shay's Ways
William, I really enjoyed the latest update you just posted about the couple with the large Cargo trailer conversion and his handicap. I wish my wife was still alive and we could build something like this camper. Please keep the great videos coming my friend. I hope and pray that your and Deb's doctor appointments work out.
I lost my husband last year and we had plans of traveling when we retired. He was ill for many years. I'm sorry for your loss too. I still want to travel and will be hopefully this summer even if in my suv. LOL.
What an amazing couple. They did a great job on their build. I tell people all the time you can live this lifestyle with mobility issues. I have had seven back surgery, a rebuilt shoulder, and a knee with torn ligaments. I have good days with some bad days. I do want to say this lifestyle gets us up and moving more which helps with doing more. Thanks for the tour of this build. Y'all stay safe and stay healthy. Lisa.
What an adorable couple! Love their personalities :). That ceiling is cool, and the kitchen is so cute. LOVE the hospital privacy curtain too. Well done! God bless ya’ll!
What great ideas and then execution! It was very gracious of Marvin and Mary to allow their story to be shared for others to learn from and encouraged to try. Looks like you guys are having a good time. Thanks for the excellent editing as well.
@@maryely7169 I'm disabled and terminal and we talked about traveling and I couldn't see how, now I do. Thank you both for sharing your story. It has given me hope more than you could know. You guys are truly blessed. 😊👍🌻
What a beautiful home they have created!! I absolutely love the color pallet and backsplash tile they chose! Thank you so much for sharing this amazing conversion!!! Cheers
I remember when Marvin was showing that shower valve off,he was so happy that she had fun building it and how happy they were on how it came our. Glad to see they made it out to full timing.
Thank you all for the wonderful time spent showing us this great trailer build. I’m a life long mechanical engineer with 26 years spent designing nuclear submarine components and systems then another 20 in aerospace and I was mind blown with your designs which provide functionality with that always sought after engineering principle the KISS method. I have often thought of this type of life but now live with CHF and felt sad about never living the dream. I think you changed my mind in that regard also. Thank you again and continued blessings to you and Mary. Hope to run into you both some day, somewhere down the road. Maybe a Rubber Tramp Rally or in Quartzite?
What a cool couple Mary and Marvin are! Good job on your build, and Mary is indespensible for her abilities! Marvin, that’s a nice quilt, too! You all be safe on your journeys, and sending prays🙏🦋🙏🦋🙏
Love this build! Only thing I'd do a little different is a little more privacy with the toilet. Really well thought out design! Now, if I could only convince my husband we need to do this, too!😋
I love this design as I am physically challenged. I liked also other folks using ramp into cargo trailer....well perfect I am now using a wheelchair sometimes. However, with his rig so low we can use removable ramp over the steps into the regular door.
I hope you're both still on the road and living the dream! Marvin, your knowledge and how you said you learnt everything is inspiring! Love your home and how it's setup, thanks for sharing!
It was great to see this video. I am a mobility impaired 67 year old and the two of us are planning our rv adventure as we speak. So good to see others like us doing what we want to do. Love your clever set up too. Wishing you both happy trails!
There are so many places that are accommodating to people work mobility issues. But, you cannot take that for granted. Build in your accommodations where you can. Keep moving forward and we'll see you out there!!
Marvin and Mary, thank you so much for sharing your trailer. I don’t understand hardly anything about your electrical setup but I hope to learn because I think that’s the way I want to go. Thank you for being an inspiration.
At 58 I can see my health starting to fail. My strength is evaporating. I am so encouraged by your build. I am building out my pickup truck bed as a camper while I can still climb in it as practice for my next build which I hope is a van but if not it will be a cargo trailer like yours. I am so encouraged. Mary is a saint! I wish you happy journeys!
Don't let a bad day or two, or even a series of bad days, stop you from moving forward. I retired as a hospice nurse. Much of my motivation comes from hearing so many others voice their regrets at not having done what they dreamed of while they had time.
Marvin my friend you are very lucky to have Mary , Mary my dear you are also so very lucky to have Marvin, you both are wonderful people, I just love the home you both worked so hard together to create. Thanks also go out to the friends and loved ones who helped along the way. I’d also like to thank Bill for the video and both of you for opening up your awesome home and sharing it with all of us 👍👍
Thank you Marvin and Mary! I’ve been researching RVs, tiny homes, truck campers, etc for over two years now and recently discovered the world of cargo trailer conversions. I just turned 33, have a little money saved from working a little bit more than I should as an RN, and will be starting a cargo conversion with my Dad! A little (or rather large) bonding father/daughter project ❤️ Your beautiful and functional home with your excellent walkthrough has given me the courage to start my build!! Hope you weren’t joking about being available for questions/help 😅
Mary and Marvin, you GO kids!! You BOTH are an inspiration. Thank you for allowing us to tour your home and share some terrific design tips. I see a few that I will be using as I build our van camper next spring. Blessings to you.
OMG talk about nice people! 😁 I love that quilt and noticed it immediately. Mary is obviously a lovely lady and crikey she's a hard worker!! I gotta say this couple make a pretty formidable team. #marriagegoals
This is a great conversion I could live in such a size trailer and everything is on one level I really like that part of it he has thought of everything
Hey you two. I knew this would be a great conversion. The made it do comfortable for themselves and they are a great team and it shows in their hard work. Hope to see more conversions, again since we are working on one two. Blessings, take care and stay safe 🤗🐞
I really like the mechanical thought process that went into that unit. And what a nice couple. I hope they have happy trails for years to come. Thanks for that informative video and I will definitely incorporate some of those plans on my build.
I absolutely love this trailer. You all did an amazing job especially with making it work for your needs. This is something I would love to be able to do given the money necessary, equipment , skills, and the help to get it done right. If my Dad was still alive he would have loved to help build it with me and my family. My husband is sadly lacking in the home repair, building, fixing aspects that are needed and I am dealing with multiple disabilities as the result of multiple spinal cord injuries and a number of neurological issues from complications of the various life threatening health issues I have battled for the last 10 years which altered my life and abilities. I loved going camping and exploring throughout my childhood each summer not only because it brought my family closer, but we got to spend quality time together with Dad and he made it exciting to go see new places across the US and especially in the different mountain ranges when we weren’t traveling to meet up with extended family on both sides of the family. My husband and I had hoped to do the same thing with our daughter, but unfortunately hasn’t been able to happen.
Now that is freaking awesome! I drive a tractor trailer and I meet a lot of people along the way, and I can tell you the people that I see on these videos out doing this are a whole lot more down-to-earth and friendlier than what I meet out driving my truck! I hope to do this someday
Well I have watched the whole thing and it is a great thought through conversion Marvin and mary have done a great job thank you for sharing there is a whole bunch of useful information to share and find so very useful
Love seeing these builds and hearing the stories. All enclosed plumbing for cold weather is a feature I don't really need in Florida. But, I probably should build it for such in case I go to Colorado some day and I'd probably use pex instead of pvc. Love the uniqueness of this build.
