ok so this track is similar in my mind to another great hip hop group, Atmosphere. their song Puppets talks lot in a similar vein. i feel like you would pick up on the vibe alot easier. im over 50 and started listening when i was a kid. i can turn you on to any style youd like to explore
My guess on the “drawstring eaters” line is actual drawstrings like on a hoodie. Maybe referencing anxiety, like it’s a habit to chew on your drawstrings and that’s the type of people hanging out late night in NY walking around.

You don't need to produce something to criticize it. This is laughably bad. Man said he's a writing major and is using words wrong and not even paying attention to lyrics, or probably more accurately, not understanding them. He should be embarrassed to have posted this and/or want criticism to improve. Criticism is that he should not jump in the deep end if he can't swim.
