Omg the emotion thing when speaking a foreign language is so relatable!!! On my year abroad in Spain, I ended up not getting along very well with my flat mates near the end of my stay and omgggg I still to this day think about all the things I should have said to stand up for myself, but in the moment I would get so frustrated that I just wanted to scream in English!! So glad it wasn’t just me 😭😭

So pleased to hear over on your instagram DHL finally came today!! I know what you mean about homesickness taking a little while to kick in and often getting you most when you're in the middle of your trip, sometimes it's hard when you can see all your friends and family together in the UK and you're not there with them. ❤️ Hope you have a safe journey home in the next couple of weeks!!

I actually heard somewhere that you're considered fluent in a language if you can express your thoughts fluently when you're angry. So maybe that's why you always felt like switching back to English when you were angry.

As someone hopefully going on a year abroad in September, I hugely appreciate the honesty about that in this vid - not something that everyone talks about but exactly what I needed to actually try and prepare myself for going away!! I'm also studying German (along with French and Italian) so have loved following your Berlin adventures these past few months xx

i think that's the one thing that i wish people had told me before year abroad, that immersion is actually really difficult to maintain, even if you are living there. obviously covid has exacerbated it, but i completely sympathise with the guilt/feeling like you aren't doing enough.

From the beautiful surprise for your mother to the all out raw honesty of your experiences, highlights, disappointments and realisations - you may not realise it right now, but you’ve grown by leaps and bounds from this adventure!!!!! Honestly, the Eve in March, at the onset of lockdown and the Eve now are wildly different creatures! Of course you are still the same Eve we adore but you are truly growing into your own skin, standing tall and making life worth living! We are so so so proud of all you have achieved individually moving from teen to uni to travels around the globe, on your own, taking no prisoners (ps I can teach you how to say: - you and you little - etc. in Spanish and put your foot in the backside of anyone trying to mess you about). literally the week after i *finally* got over the culture shock moving to california for my study abroad and felt confident to travel, we went into lockdown n i had to come home lol - thank you for making a video about study abroad that wasn't all rainbows n sunshine !! xx

14:00 i totally agree about not wanting to speak the language when something is going on. I actually fainted in a metro station on my year abroad in Madrid earlier this year, and trying to explain how you feel, where you're from and why you're there etc when half unconscious was HARRRD

Your photo album should say ‘mom and me’, not ‘ Mom and I’ because it’s technically ( pictures of) Mom and me. You’d say ‘these are pictures of me’ not ‘pictures of I’, wouldn’t you? I still remember my year abroad, split between Mons in Belgium and Alicante in Spain, plus a summer language course for my Italian, in Florence. I travelled loads in Belgium with my lovely German and Italian flatmates ( small country with really cheap and efficient railway system, plus some excellent Erasmus trips to Bruges and Copenhagen for the Christmas markets). Both my landladies were batshit crazy, unreachable when you needed them, but would turn up unnanounced for no good reason!
