@@neoasura alot of vegetarians are not vegans. And they usually don’t preach. It’s always the meat eaters talking about how can you live without meat and this and that
I like a lot of vegetables. capsicum & minced meat spinach & minced meat Fenugreek & minced meat potatoes & minced meat carrots & minced meat green onions & meat The list goes on & on
I'm a pesceterian. I eat chicken stock. I make my own diet. Meat eaters have a problem with us. We don't have a problem with you. Meat eaters are bullies.
@@neoasurai would say the same about 90% of my interactions with meat eaters. I say nothing to them yet they feel the need to "judge" and change my personal choices.
I am a meat eater - but I really like veggie burgers too. Cook them until crispy on the outside, cheese slice, ketchup, onions, lettuce - stick it in a slightly toasted bun - job done 👌
@@GIBBO4182 no I think that would make it taste bad, leave the shit alone and stick to the black beans, in fact you should probably quit using shit altogether in your food........
Ohh been wanting to try a black bean burger for awhile now but can’t find a recipe I like. I think I found it here!!! Looks so good. Just show Jen Chance’s eyes and she will let the man have his Evo! 😂😮
Pretty basic, “almost” veggie burger (-egg), but I always like to put roasted chopped walnuts in the batch, along with scallions and diced mild Jalapeños.
Dietary constraints due to health issues has me looking more and more into the whole vegan realm for food alternatives. Problem is, they all put in way to much salt/sodium to try and make the flavor work. This, this is something I'd be willing to give a whirl in the processor - see what I did there?
I got 2 go to veggie burgers. Slammin'. One is with kale and tomatoes, onions and a few other ingredients with some seasonings the other is with butternut squash and a few ingredients
@@frankwhite555 There is a difference in types of Vegetarians. Typically there are 7 categories that are expressed today. Lacto-Vegetarians, Ovo-Vegetarians, Lacto-Ovo Vegetarians, Vegans, Pescatarians, Pollotarian and Flexitarian. Honestly, the burger that Sam and the Boys made, would follow the Lacto-Ovo Vegetarians the closest. Typically they keep dairy and eggs in their diet for protein (or other) reasons. If you wanted to move the burger to something like a Vegan diet, the most restrictive, then you could use a liquid egg substitute (which I ment to include Sub in my comment before) and Plant based cheese in the place. It just depends what degree of Vegetarian you want to go. I am sure it was an over sight on Sam's part. I, myself, am neither of these categories but I had done some extensive research awhile back for a friend...and trying to change some of my own eating habits.
@@paladonis I never knew that and never heard of a liquid egg haha. Thanks for the info. And yeah I changed how I eat about 4-5 months ago. It's good you are trying as well. Honestly it's helped me a lot
I actually really like black bean burgers, especially with roasted corn (whole). The pop of the corn gives it a little more juice that you don't really get from the blended bean/veggie mix.
@@jeremywebster9598 Gosh, I’m so glad you told me to try beef.👍. But obviously you haven’t purchased any beef lately, because here in Biden’s America, it is a bit expensive. Have a nice day!
Can’t believe the number of snowflakes commenting here. Grow up, expand your horizons a bit. Triggered much? I hope to see more recipes like this. Looks great Sam.
I just feel like vegetarians shouldn't call this a "burger." As much as I love meat...I've done kale, mushrooms, bell peppers, onions and carrots, when I did 30-days vegan (no cheese or beans). It didn't taste bad at all...I just would not add unhealthy condiments to it, put inside a bun, and call it a "burger."
@@seanjones3551 So a burger is a sandwich essentially. Look at how many different things can be put into a sandwich and still be deemed a “sandwich”. Btw- I’m not vegetarian, but do enjoy meatless options regularly.
Sorry Sam... Until you can slice a steak of tufo off of a steer, I'm not eating bead curd...but you enjoy!! and still gave you a thumbs up.....cuz I love ya...
That's a great way to make a black bean burger for vegetarians and I think I would try it, but I might use an egg replacement. Thanks for sharing the video.
You lost me at the egg. A veggie burger should be vegan. I have no problem with the egg in a meatloaf as a binder, but a non-vegan veggie burger seems wrong.
Wow, this veggie burger looks amazing! I love that it's packed with flavor and doesn't make you miss meat at all. Sam the Cooking Guy always has such great recipes. I can't wait to try this one out for myself. Thank you for sharing!
My favorite veggie burger recipe: sunflower seeds (pulverized in a food processor), grated carrots, onions, garlic, optional mushrooms, roasted red and/or green bell peppers, parsley, basil, thyme, paprika, soy sauce, salt, pepper, optional mashed sweet potato, binder(1egg or cornstarch/flour/overcooked brown rice/oats and/or breadcrumbs), garbanzos, but the seeds-to-bean ratio should be at least 60%. Loosely based on the original recipe, from "Nature's Banquet", Living Springs, in Hudson valley,NY. If you use raw sunflower seeds you'll need a bit more salt, soy sauce or shoyu tamari. I have no doubt that this one is delicious. It really does look like a well done burger.
My fav vegan "burger"; buy a bunch of non-fat, seasonings and condiments. Stick them all randomly in a bun (maybe). Get hungry again two hrs later and make a quarter-pounder with cheese.... Less calories, and feel more satiated one day later.
I hit the 'like' button for 2 reasons...number 1 was that I love your channel and have for several years..number 2 was that you had 666 likes and I just couldn't let it stay like that..LOL
This is too much prep time. Just pan fry a portobello cap until med-soft. Then in same pan, the patty then put em togeth on whole wheat bread toasted or not. Add tomato, raw onion, lettuce and/or cheese. Yum.
The humble egg does fall into the category vegetarian. He said at the very beginning, vegetarian but not vegan. If you google it, you will know: Vegetarians don't eat any food products made from meat, fish, shellfish, crustacea (such as prawns or crab) or animal by-products (such as gelatine or rennet). Vegans don't eat any food products that come from animals, including dairy products and eggs
I'm very excited to try this recipe out. So nice to see you doing some vegetarian options on this channel. I know you love your meat, but it's nice to see this. Thanks Sam!
I would very much like to try that burger. Maybe with the mushroom/bean ratio leaning more to the mushroom side, as the beans are there mostly for color and texture, while baked shitakes bring the pleasant flavor. Very solid effort anyhow with the onions and peppers.
I love black bean burgers! I’ve made them before and it was delicious. I can’t wait to try this recipe. Thanks! P.S. cilantro is delicious in black bean burgers.
Me: WHAT??? There's eggs being used thats totally cheating... Also Me: If I ever did this for some unfortold reason ide probably use eggs and fry the whole thing in bacon grease.... 🤣 🤣 🤣
@@snaponron most vegetarians are lacto-ovo, which means they consume dairy and eggs. What you're looking for is a vegan recipe which would exclude the egg and the cheese used in this recipe. JustEgg would also be a good substitute.
Have you tried the new paper-based burger from Wendy's? The Paper is a hundred percent virgin pine from Oregon. No artificial ingredients. Real paper. Taste just like meat!
@@ZippityDont taco ingredients (beef cheese sour cream lettuce pico etc.) Thrown in a bag of Fritos or Doritos. I want Sam to take full creative liberties and just go to town😂
Hey Sam, I've tried these burgers twice now and they're delicious! The only issue I have is that mine fall apart after biting through the panko crust. Any tips or pitfalls to look out for?
In case anyone was saying the burger in not Vegetarian. There is a difference in types of Vegetarians. Typically there are 7 categories that are expressed today. Lacto-Vegetarians, Ovo-Vegetarians, Lacto-Ovo Vegetarians, Vegans, Pescatarians, Pollotarian and Flexitarian. If you wanted to move the burger to something like a Vegan diet, the most restrictive, then you could use a liquid egg substitute and Plant based cheese in the place. It just depends what degree of Vegetarian you want to go. Maybe they were taken into consideration or not. I am not a vegetarian, but did some research for a friend, and myself, awhile back when I had considered going the veggie route. I had been sorta thinking about Lacto-Ovo_Vegetarian again recently, and this reminded me of things. I might end up giving it a whirl for a bit to change up some eating habits and the like. Just hit 40 last year so I have been thinking on a lot of things. LOL.
I love black beans, and haven't found one of these I like. I'm really excited to try this one. I'm also going to wait to try it until my mother in law is over as she's been a vegetarian her whole life and also hasn't had one of these she likes. I'm anxious to share the results! Also, I need an EVO, my wife agrees, my budget does not.
@@n.a.garciafamily they need to be pretty firm. The flavor was outstanding and we make it to eat as black beans on the side now. They need more binder to hold their texture though. Everyone said they would eat them again.
Bless you! Please continue to throw in the occasional vegetarian and/or vegan recipe in addition to your other scrumptious ideas. Going into Summer...salad & pasta recipes! Much love & appreciation from Kentucky.💙☮💙
From a real vegetarian, I'd never use canned beans. Soak your dry beans the night before and cook them al dente. Also the amount of mushrooms should be greater. Also you can make even better burgers by experimenting with other types of mushrooms like trumpet, oyster and wood ear.
I made these last night and I gotta say these are pretty damn good. Cooking with the flour, egg, panko technique was a great addition to keep the burger well structured. That, on top of having caramelized onions, and a buttery toasted brioche bun was just heaven with a hint of honey BBQ sauce.
Now, im not a vegetarian in the slightest, but what’s the take on the addition of the eggs to the recipe mean for those who are? Love your work Team Sam, keep crushin it
vegetarians usually will eat eggs and dairy, they are lacto/ovo vegetarians. Vegan do not eat any animal products. They would have to use an egg substitute and eliminate the butter to make this vegan.
@@davidojeda830 No it is still veggie if you have egg in it - or selected cheese (some insist on vegan) .. Well kept chickens do not cross the line of vegetarians ... if they live a happy life outdoors and are well looked after then they are happy chickens and they WILL lay eggs so these need to be used. And the chickens need to be looked after. Ask me how I know. My wife decided to keep chickens years ago. They are fun, sweet, great eggs but I can tell you they have cost me MUCH more than store bought eggs would have to keep them safe (from foxes and badgers etc) and to feed them. Our chickens have an idilic life they have a nice big safe area to graze and a safe coup - and they get lots of treats. They are pets that lay eggs - so why not make use of the eggs. The alternative is to kill all egg laying chickens in the world and then we don't have to worry about people eating chicken eggs - your call, let us know when the cull should start.
I am a vegetarian. I love this video. Can I ask if the patties can be made ahead of time and then put them in the freezer to be cooked the day after? Will it change the texture or flavour?
I miss you guys! I’m trying to have a better life and I’m missing the videos! Thanks for keeping up your end of the deal. If I ever work again, I’m gonna miss more… still your #15 fan, because I use that garlic press like a crazy person!

Looks pretty damn good! Glad you didn't add lentils or quinoa or oats or anything. I would most def eat that. In fact, I'm going to make that exactly the same. And one with Swiss and mushroom sauce. And bacon.
When I worked at one of my previous jobs, the cafeteria had veggie burgers on the menu. I used to get them all the time. It was ok but I still prefer beef.
Amen...In the Navy, I worked in the galley. We ran out of beef patties right before we recieved a new supply. I was ordered to go to our cold store room to get a box of turkey burgers. Then when I had to go get a box of veggie burgers, nobody ate them. I felt bad... My mom offered me some when I was hungry...they werent that bad with plenty of salt pepper, mayonase, hot sauce and overly cooked👍🏾
@@frankwhite555 At least I can pronounce all the ingredients and they're recognizable. Also, ground beef doesn't settle well for me. My preference. You do you.
