@Corbin Terry Snake has been in another fighting game called Dream Mix TV World Fighters. Optimus Prime was also in this game, and he and the rest of the Transformers have crossed over with Marvel. Marvel has the Sky Fathers, beings that rule over their real life respective pantheon. One of them is Zues, and that means there's Hades somewhere in that pantheon. Or if you wanted to be a little less convluted, just say Kid Icarus or Persona.
I think the Brawl announcer gives Luigi plenty of respect. Gives me the vibe of "Oh, didn't expect to see you here, but DAMN, welcome to the fight!" This plays into his cowardly personality. It's like the announcer is surprised that Luigi had the courage to show up, but he's stoked that he did! Honestly, I love this delivery.
I think that when the brawl announcer says "Luigi" in brawl he sounds somewhat intrigued, like if he was surprised by Luigi's abilities after judging him hastily, which makes sense as Luigi is an underdog character Maybe for you it's different, but I sincerely can't hear it's pronunciation as something other than that
When I was a kid and played Melee I didn't know English so I always sayed "mili". Cause that's how he fucking says it lol. To my surprise, years later when I entered the scene, everyone pronounce it more like an "e". And I mean like the "e" in "elephant"
We can’t forget about the time in Brawl after the announcer says the fighters name, that the character screams from your controller if you’re playing with the Wiimote, especially if you pick Captain Falcon
@@cobwebinthecorner I remember going to a friends house to play Brawl and being absolutely confused as to why I heard Kirby say “hiiii~” through the Wiimote.
Yo I always LOVED the way the announcer said “Gannondorf” in Melee. Sounded like he was straight up terrified to be in Gannondorf’s presence. Such a small touch left a big impression on me in this weird way.
Alax is going to be the next Smash announcer and he's going to say every character unenthusiasticly until he screams "ALAAAX!" at the top of his lungs.
Someone pointed out that it sounds like someone greeting their friend and a party and then seeing they brought along their annoying little sibling, and I can't get enough of it.
5:51 thank you for recognizing the cleverness of french localisation for Pokémon names. Also Blastoise's french name is litteraly "Tank Turtle" and it's the best thing
Fun fact : Melee's announcer also said the French and German name of jigglypuff. And hearing him struggling to say "rondoudou" is one of the funniest thing in this game.
Im thinking about how that would work. Maybe have it be a sort of meta fighter, playing as the character select token, and fighting using ui elements and text. The final smash could be placing the token on an enemy and dragging them around. Oh yeah also when they get selected the announcer just says "Me!"
the way that xander mobus says "sephiroth" became my favorite announcer line the second i heard it. so much power and evil behind that line. i love it.
My favorite announcer is Xander Mobus. Other than his upbeat way of saying certain fighter names, I enjoy that he has a more conversational role in the 50-Fact Extravaganza on Wii U. He also did a similar presentation for Ultimate, although I like the 50-Fact one just a teeny bit more.
I love to crush Persona 5 Joker Fangirls' hopes and dreams. I've seen too many times them telling me "oh my god, joker's voice is so hot", and then I show them a picture of his voice actor, Xander Mobus, who just looks like a huge dork. I love it.
I remember when I played melee as a kid, the announcer would always pronounce the name weirdly. Instead of “bowser” I would hear “bumser” and instead of “Samus” I would hear “sose” or some shit
Everytime a new DLC character was out before I’d select the character for the first time I’ll try imitate the announcer’s voice to how he might possibly say it then select the character to see whether I was right. I did come close on some but failed most of the time 😅😂
The way the announcer says your main will forever be ingrained your head. It feels really powerful when starting a match and it's a way to hype up b4 it if your friend isn't there watching
My favorite thing about the announcer is usually how he says the name. Whether it is emphasis, enthusiasm, or distress. My favorite announcer lines are: "Ganondorf" in Melee. "Meta Knight" in Brawl. "Zero Suit Samus" in Smash 4. And "Banjo & Kazooie" in Ultimate.
In my opinion, I think it was Smash 4's 50-Fact Extravaganza that made people fall in love with Xander's take on the announcer, since it allowed him to show some character besides just being an announcer.
So fun thing about Joker and Xander Mobus being the announcer. In an interview, he mentioned that he's given a list of names to say that has both real and fake entries so he can't spoil anything, and when he saw "Joker" one day, he thought that was one of the fake names. He was rather surprised when Joker was actually announced later.
I love how the Reocurring joke with Bowser Jr. being a one-sided character, makes me appreciate how he evolved in the Mario games over the years. If you try to make an analysis on the little guy, check out the spinoff like the RPG and Mario+Rabbids game since he is a lot more tamed and mature in recent games. He even asked Mario to help him in Bowser's Fury too.
I love how Xander says Greninja, it gives off this sneaky vibe that perfectly fits the character. also at 8:24 he sounds like professor membrane from Invader Zim and I just find that hilarious
If memory serves, when recording the names for Smash 4 and Ult, Xander actually got a lot of "dummy names" so that even he doesn't know who's really in or not.
Duuuude. For a while, me and my older sisters only had a GameCube and we played Melee almost excessively to the point where Dean Harrington’s voice is engraved in my memory and thinking of “GAME!”, “STAMINAAA!”, BRRREAK THE TARGETS!”, and “READYYY?... GO!” when I’m tired and burnt out just makes me feel all warm and toasty inside and I know I have this big, stupid grin, but god damn.
Alex making videos that are gonna explode Man you really know what video topics people wanna see videos on, but don't even know they want those vids so badly! Keep it up!
The ending cracked me up. I usually don’t laugh out loud or even smile during some RU-vid videos even if I find it funny, but this had me laugh even during the ad that followed.
