I had an early '60s ES-335TD paired with a blackface Bassman 2x12 for a number of years in the late-'60s through early-'70s. I tear up everytime I think of having sold them! ...This pedal is 'spot on'!

Great vid !!! - That is the very best sounding distortion pedal I have ever heard ! I love the Marshall tone. But I will take THAT tone over a Marshall tone.

Sounds good through the front...through the loop it is just nuts. I had a pan ab165 Bassman for 25 years and this an excellent demo!

Killer playing, man. Especially with the nocaster and the ES. Soaked it up like a sponge. As for the pedal and the sounds, great circuit right there. Pretty handy for when one has to rely on backline amps that don't deliver. Cheers

This is better than Mad Professor own test video :) Great job! Tho one thing that every amp in a box pedal demo should do is that, don't play it through same brand amp that the pedal is. Of course if the pedal goes through effect loop then it's ok, because loop doesn't color sound.

Great playing Jack, but I agree with others, to me the true test of any kind of pedal claiming to give you a true tube circuit type tone would be to run it through a Solid State type non Fender amp running clean and and maybe on the verge of breakup.

I think Jack really likes that No Caster. Every time he plays it he sounds fantastic. Check out the Tele shootout that he did a few months ago.

Not sure if you are really testing that pedals effectiveness by running it through a Fender circuit? Seems that the test would be to run it through something with EL34s or a Voxy somethang-a-rather?

Most pedals are designed using 6l6 architecture, that being said, one could demo it on el34 or el84 amps for comparison.

True, If I had a blackface amp why would I be looking for a pedal to sound like it anyway?

@@paulojcduarte I'd agree if he had put it through a Princeton or Deluxe Reverb. But the hot rod isn't really a blackface. It has much more present mids for example. Also, I think the point is to get the blackface overdrive sound without having to crank an amp. So it could actually be a nice addition to a blackface amp, I think👌

Sounded way better in the return. And more like what it set out to emulate. What does that say about the hot rod's pre section? And what does that tell you about how sticking it in the front of any other amp? The Boss FDR-1 had this problem. It only sounded remotely believable plugged into a Roland JC.

Hi! Which is better, Super Black or Origin RevvivalDrive Compat? IN terms of feel and sound for a Blackface, Twin Rverb tones? I am only interested in Fender TwinRverb, or at least Black face, tones,

I own both pedals and they are completely different. The a Super Black sounds great into my Tone King Imperial mkii, but not as good into my Suhr PT100. The Origin Revival Drive Compact sounds great into both of those amps. In the Tone King, I mix some of the clean tones into it. Into the Suhr, straight pedal with no clean tone mixed in. I hope this helps you.

I have both pedals, there is no contest when it comes to Fender sounds - I am probably selling the RevivalDRIVE Compact as I am only interested in the Fender sounds. The Super Black feels and sounds like a Blackface - much more so than the RevivalDRIVE. The RevivalDRIVE is not bad but I believe it leans more towards the Marshall sound. Plus crank the mids and hit the sweet honey boost on the Super and you have some extreme authentic cranked tweed sounds

I was seriously expecting something a bit more special or majical for 300 bucks ,,, It's a great bluesy tube sound tho and good riffs ,,, I just won't spend that much for this pedal tho ,,, there are much better even less expensive options in my opinion,,, thank u for video tho bro

I don't get it. Ok it works fine in front of a Fender. But this wouldn't do the trick in front of a Marshall, would it?

Well played as always and the Gibson is quite nice. The pedal makes a Fender amp sound like Fender... It would be a better test to see what it does on a non-Fender amp.

Those modern amps are a good basic tone but aren't vintage blackface by any means. If you want a great bf tone surely you would get a basic fender and use this setup. Why start with el84s?
