+David Mood Thank You David. Its always a difficult thing trying to make something from lots of video recording. I do cut out many pieces but I think they are boring or long pieces that are better removed so as to make the video flow from beginning to end and try my best to make it interesting. +Chip Guy Vids Hi I have the smaller SMD hot air gun but I was not expecting anything to survive from the use of the paint stripper. thats why I had never tried it before. all I need to do now is find the Air scoop attachments that came with it so i can direct the heat in a more precise way and hopefully a new way (for me) to collect components.

There are about 3 or 4 nozzles for this paint stripper somewhere but my house is like a Tardis. small but lots of gear inside. trouble is it is very difficult to find things.

What I did after being able to acquire a mass of old PCBs is turn them upside down, heat the solderside with a paint stripper and just tapped lightly with a hammer on the PCB, while holding the PCB above a bucket. easiest way to get a bunch of components in a very short time. the only parts not being really happy with this were IC sockets, those would bend slightly.

+markusfuller To do a mass de-solder on a scrap board..... Just use a standard heat gun and pre-heat the back of the board on low first and crank it on high and tap the board with something while continuing to heat and everything should start falling off! ;-)....... I hope this trick will save you a lot of time and save precious space as well :-).....

+markusfuller no worries Marcus. I enjoy your videos. You appear to have taken apart most of my studio haha :-) BTW... if you want a good laugh .. you'll find on the internet that 25kg PSU for the desk was built with inherent failure in the design. Capacitors are mismatched and chips blow. Causes desk to go into red light mode with piercing test tone blaring. Read up on it. its typical Behringer garbage :-) I've had my fun with repair visits to my engineer.

+markusfuller & the current going rate in UK eBay for bridge is about 130 plus carriage on top. wrap it well. those end plates wings snap off as its brittle alloy. peace!

& if you repair the psu .. its going rate is about £100 on ebay.

+markusfuller You would need to built a lot of bandpass filters to make a spectrum analyzer out of that string of LM339 meters.

+hasso0n Yes I would certainly think about replacing that diode. they allwork together making the keys you press send the voltages into a sort of Matrix which is figured out by the diodes. do you have a multimeter?. if so check the diodes close by and see if you get the same reading from the dodgy one. remember they sort of conduct one way but not the other. apologies if you already know this I just dont know about your electronics knowledge.

Hello MrHarmonicminor, the sliders are easily serviceable but a lot of the switches are sealed units and would take a bit more work to try and fix them. It would be easier if you could source new ones and replace them rather than dismantle them as they have tiny springs latches etc inside.

Hi everyone.im pulling my hair out.lol.I have a 2002 12rq unity peavey mixer.It has developed anoise such as,when i plug it in to power i hear a click assumming it is a small contactor and then it immediately starts humming.so anyway my delimma is that i have every piece of nut ,knob there is on top preparing to disassemble the top so i can get inside.Can you possibly tell me if they're clips or ther fastener that is preventing the sides from coming apart to further disassembly.Thanx in advance.

+Jon Simmons (Neffers) Yes its a pity it had to be stripped down but technology moves forward and my allen & heath qu-16 mixer is a third of the weight & size with effects etc and usb stream & multitrack recording to hard disk etc etc. dont get me wrong behringer is made down to a price but I find some of their gear quite good for the price.

Music Group have 'recently' made the acquisition of TC Group too (Tannoy, Lab Gruppen, Lake, TC Electronics, TC Helicon and TC Applied Technologies), it's quite a nest of companies for Behringer to be amongst. Lets hope they don't 'frankenstein' too many products and continue to make viable budget yet desirable ones.

+Jetset Willy I love salvaging parts. I have filing cabinet drawers (the thin drawer type) and they are choc full of parts. some from my childhood (and that was a long time ago). but every now and then someone needs a specific old transistor and occasionally I have it.

I modified a FuzzFace yesterday, glad that dozens of AC128 ,Oc72(glass) laying in the container. I guess we both have minor OCD.

I have some of those somewhere. I scraped the paint of some of them once to make light sensitive switches. that was many years ago.

Its a strange subject getting the video lengths just right, some people complained about video number 70 being too long and not getting to the point instantly and theres the others that can seem too short. I dont think there is any magic number in minutes that can please everybody so I just make the video then edit it trying to pull out any long pauses and some are longer than others but I do not stick to a rule of length of time. I think this last video was just about right for the subject it contained. But thankyou very much for letting me know as it is something I occasionally think about and wonder what people think about the length. Best wishes from Markus

+markusfuller Don't waste too much time thinking about how long videos should be. I think you're doing it just right. I guess it's not so much about the total time (viewers can pause and go on later if it's too long). It's way more important to cut out long pauses and avoid repeating the same thing again and again (as happens often on the EEVblog). Maybe this is a good point to thank you for the effort you put into making these videos! I really enjoy watching! Please keep it up, it's fantastic!

markusfuller For me personally I it doesn't bother not really to me how long a video is, and when it is to long that it is so simple to pause it. So even it is a short one than it is absolutely no problem for me or a longer one with some things repeated is also no problem. Most I like about your video's is also the subject and as you know I am also just like Organaut an musician. And than a look inside of all that equipment is very interesting, and also tips how to repair. But also the way you explain is more understandable for also people like me, just hobbyist and not a professional with electronics. Somebody like Dave of the EEVblog is sometimes to technical and than it gets boring after a time. With lots of respect for Dave of course, but for the simple hobbyist sometimes a bit to complicated. Anyway, go further like the way you make your video's, and that typical English way of making humor is great !! I am crazy about old series like Fawlty Towers and Are you being served haha. Yes I will always try and let the video's take as long as they take but try and cut away boring or non interesting parts. some people want instant video all over in under 2 minutes but I cannot explain anything that way and I think a few minutes to talk about the thing i am about to take apart or repair can be interesting to some people and those that want just the end result can skip forward.

+Terror Van Hi I have had this problem myself and do not have the answer. I just work with small pliers if I can get a grip on the head or have even used a dremel to cut a slot for a straight screwdriver to fit. other than that I do not think there is an easy way.

Yeah, I get it. I'm off buying a grey original mx 8000 tomorrow for 130 euro's, revised 3 years ago, incl. meterbridge. But also I understand Markus' view. The value sum of all the parts he can collect out of one mx8000 is also bigger than having to buy seperate parts online, with extra shipping costs and waiting time. I have 3 mackie 8 bus mixers here (32, 24 and 16.8), of which one is going to get sacrificed to fix the other two. The 16.8 will be saved for sure, incl meterbridge, I really like the size. Not sure if I want to save the 32 or the 24. Also depends on how many good parts are left from the 32 and 24 after the 16.8 is in top condition, so bigger chance the 24.8 wil make it and I will modify the 32.8 casing as a double 19 inch rack holder or something. But If I can save the 32.8, this will have priority. Bigger number is always better, right :p ? I got the 32.8 for 175 euro's, the 24.8 for 60 euro's (left masterchannel is defective, also lots of sticky buttons and scrappy faders) and the 16.8 with meterbridge for 210 euro's.

+markusfuller Possibly another Behringer mixer. I had a 32 channel that lasted about 8 years then died. My tech couldn't fix it (would have cost too much, so I bought a new Yamaha) so pretty much the same thing happened to it.

yes shame these things do not last very long. I do not think I have ever had a mixer last more than 4 years without some problems starting.
